A charming setting just north of Angers with a cluster of old (beautifully restored) buildings set in spacious grounds (including a maze). Drinks on the terrace set the tone for a delightful dinner with good service (the restaurant was very full) and excellent food. Room was in the 'attic' up two floors (no lift) and was a bit cramped but...

Very nice setting in a beautiful ensemble of buildings that have been impeccably restored. You feel like you're in an old village when you arrive, and there's even a pretty chapel. We stayed in one of the smaller (and least expensive rooms) because we arrived late and left early. The room was quite small and the floors creaked, but it...

My husband and I had a lovely dinner in this chateau We are happy we did not choose this place as a hotel as it doesn't not have a Castle feel to it but more of a large italian villa. The dinner was very good, service was good but very pretencious. The ambiance was nice and pretty but it felt...

Wonderful setting, accommodation and restaurant! What else to say? Rooms are spacious and very well appointed. Decoration is in-line with "chateau" type and well in-tune with setting. Restaurant was truly excellent. We went for the "menu harmonie" and loved it. Only point of notice is breakfast service when waiting time was just a little on the too long. But then...

This is a really lovely example of what one would like a French Hotel to offer. Still imaginable as a private home, but now well converted into a 'modern historical' traditional hotel. The decoration is stylish but not over the top, and clean and fresh! The hotel is beautifully run by a hands on Chatelaine, and with fantastic service and...

We arrived to Chateau de Noireux after a five hour drive from the Dordogne so were pretty wrecked on arrival however the first impressions of the Chateau certainly lifted our spirits. Set in graceful grounds down a long driveway with stables and main chateau and small chapel all blending well to create a lovely location and atmosphere for what could...

Hotel is very hard to find and this is mainly because of inadequate road signs to Briollay. Charming position in park overlooking river Loir. Reception efficient; luggage carried to room and car parked. Room large and although in attic had charm and well appointed.Very comfortable. Drink on terrace a delight. Dinner outside also very pleasant although we found the harmonie...

This hotel lacks charm throughout, the room we had was just not up to the standard expected of this quality of hotel being both dark and dated, the food served was no more than average and the staff cold and brusque. We do not think this hotel represents value for money at all and would not recommend it.

We stayed at Chateau de Noirieux during a trip through the Loire last month, and it was wonderful! Positives: Beautiful grounds - really really stunning - jaw dropping, actually. Wonderful service - the poor busboy had to carry our 2 giganitc bags up 3 flights of stairs (no elevator) Food - the restaurant was really really good. we didn't know...

We stayed at the Chateaux in June, as a traet for my husband's birthday. I chose a room 'with charm,' which was substantially more expensive than a standard room. I emailed ahead and explained that the room was an important aspect of our stay. We were therefore disappointed to be allocated an attic room with low celings and dreary furnishings,...

Management response:

Dear Madam, We fully regret that our charming room did not satisfy you. However this room with its authentic french silk fabrics of the well known collection of Pierre Frey and the bathroom, signed by Villeroy&Boch, are both fully renovated only 4 years ago. In a Château of the XVIIth and Manor House of the XVth century, we dispose of...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Lying at the heart of a 9-hectare estate composed of magnificent one-hundred- and two-hundred-year-old trees, cradled in the scents of the domain's walnut, cedar and linden trees, the Château de Noirieux is an exceptional Relais & Châteaux hotel that offers a setting of greenery as far as the eye can see. Fifteen kilometres from Angers, in Briollay, this patrician residence reveals an elegant classical façade in freestone overlooking the Loir valley. The rooms offering 4-star comfort are in the Louis XVI, Louis XV and Louis XIII style at the Chateau. Its 15th-century Manor houses pretty rooms in a Rustic style with view over the grounds. In terms of cuisine, our Michelin-starred chef invites to his table and endeavours to show off in their best light the jewels of the terroir of French Riviera and northern Italy through a cuisine at once traditional and contemporary, full of flavour to satisfy the most discerning palate. The excellence of the product is exploited according to his tastes, his expertise and his passing whims. ... more   less
