Had a meal in the restaurant , really looking forward to a special meal. I could have cooked it at home, very plain and nothing special. Cobwebs on the hops and felt like it needed a deep clean. For summer, it was so quiet, just us a one other couple. Very disappointing .

Small intimate hotel on main road just over a mile from town centre. Quiet and very friendly. Restaurant serving locally sourced ingredients, very nice and reasonably priced. Great breakfasts too. Lovely bedroom, nothing fancy but clean and comfortable.

We spent an enjoyable 2 days in Rye over the bank holiday weekend. The staff at Playden Oasts were lovely - really friendly. Breakfasts were good - continental and cooked. The hotel has lots of character and charm, particularly in the bar / restaurant area. However, the room we had was tatty, dated and really in need of some TLC....

We stayed in one of the roundel rooms for 5 nights. Lovely room with very comfy bed. All the meals we ate here, both evening & breakfast, were delicious and we would highly recommend the food. The hosts were welcoming and friendly as were all the staff we came into contact with, nothing was too much trouble. Locals that we...

Stayed here over a weekend in August. There are pluses and minuses and in conclusion I wouldn't recommend it and wouldn't return. The pluses are: it is very close to Rye village. The building itself is very quirky Some of the staff were friendly Portions in the restaurant were big The minuses: The food for dinner service was extremely slow...

The outside of the oast house does not disappoint not the public rooms downstairs they are lovely and in keeping with the area and style of building. However, our roundel room (which is their best room at £120 per night b&b) was a disappointment. It desperately needs upgrading as it looked a bit tired. We found a used razor in...

We stayed as a mini break for one night. The room was clean and well presented. The staff are friendly and very accommodating resolving a fairly big issue for us without fuss; we thank them for this. The breakfast was generous and very tasty; this set us up for the day ahead. Location was 5 minutes by car from the...

My wife and I booked the Playden Oasts for a break so that we could visit Rye, the hotel is extremely charming, as was the owner Raphael who made us very welcome. The hotel is comfortable with two restaurants and a spacious bar area. All of the meals are produced with locally sourced ingredients, the food is hot, tasty and...

What a pleasant change to stay in an hotel that is not just a carbon copy of so many others. We had a lovely room in one of the former oasts, which was reasonably large and comfortable. The hotel bar is frequented by locals as well as guests and all are made to feel at home and welcome to join...
