Love this hotel. The staff are friendly and patient. The rooms have character and are comfortable. The breakfast spread is excellent and in a nice cosy setting. And of course the location is ideal for exploring the centre. All in all, a lovely hotel.
This is a small private hotel, the rooms are quite small, but comfortable. Although it was hot when we visited, and there is no fan, the room temperature was cool, if you left the windows open. There was constant some confusion amongst the staff, but they were very friendly and helpful. Location is pretty good, and it was very good value for money.
Room was small but comfortable, especially for the price. Comfy bed and lovely shower and everything clean. Yep it’s a bit dated but that’s part of the charm, it’s a 12 room family hotel not a chain! The gentleman in reception was friendly and helpful and spoke good English. Only negatives would be the wi-fi, it’s a small thing but if it’s important to you then the connection is non existent. You also need to be mobile. We stayed in room 10 which is up 3 flights of stairs. No lift. Overall we would stay in this hotel next time we visit Caen.
Good little hotel in a very good location in Caen. Room was clean if a little run down but for the price absolutely excellent. Breakfast was 7 euros extra but there was plenty to eat and it was very convenient.
If you are looking for a no-frills, clean room with private bath (and don't mind lugging your baggage upstairs), this is for you. Our room was small, but clean, and the bed was comfortable enough. The bathroom was tiny, but served its purpose. For a short stay, this place does the trick without breaking the bank. I found the breakfast in the morning rather meagre for the price - normally one gets some cold cuts and sliced cheese in addition to bread and fruit. That being said, I find this type of hotel charming, and classically European, but it may not suit those accustomed to brand-name hotels.
Perfect Hotel for your Holidays in Normandie. Very charming room in a quiet central area really in the center of Caen!bus stops are nearby. Abbey aux hommes at 5 minutes walkng. Pay attention to the scheduled time of the reception.
Hotel is in a good location although car parking is difficult but that is the same in any city. Requested an early checkin at 11am prior to arrival and was told this was fine, but when we got there room was not ready! Bedroom we had was number 8 on the 4th floor with no lift and a narrow wooden staircase and was very tiny. Bathroom has a sliding door as room was so small you would not have been able to open a "normal" door. Small double bed and general decor not very good, scuffs on walls, hole in wall behind door, general poor maintenance. Did not have breakfast as it was served in the the reception area Easy to walk in to Caen where there are numerous bars/restaurants - city is great but would stay somewhere different next time.
Are you looking for an original vintage experience? Do you prefer a typical French room more than a serial hotel..?? This is the right place. Great position in the city. We had room n.2, ground floor. Small but clean and comfortable room. The bed is good as well. Staff is young, flexible and really kind. Breakfast is served in generous portions.
For an overnight stay ...we were happy with the hotel ...Nothing fancy but clean..Comfortable beds and good breakfast ...If looking for a fancy hotel, this is not one but it a typical old hotel...While visiting an old city ...Location is great
I booked this Hotel as an overnight stopover in Central Caen, not really expecting a lot. We didn't get a lot in truth, although the continental breakfast was good value for money. You will have read the factual detail elsewhere in the critiques, so I won't bore you with more of the same. The hotel is tatty let's be honest. Our room was painted in garish shades of yellow. The electrics were suspect, with nowhere to charge a phone (important in this day and age). The shower was pathetic, the bed linen was not very appealing. The place was dated and gloomy.... I half expected to pass Toulouse Lautrec on the stairs.!! Some would call all this "French charm", but it isn't. It's tat. On the other hand, the place is convenient for Caen, it's clean(ish), the telly works, the Internet is fine, the staff are pleasant when you see them, the continental breakfast was good and the price you pay ain't great, so you pays yer money and you takes yer choice as us Brits say!!! Would I recommend the Hotel.? Put it like this, I would'nt stay here again but other less affluent travellers may be happy with all it's shortcomings, and there are a lot of those!! The red geraniums in the window boxes are pretty. I hope the staff turn up to keep them watered !!!…
