We visited Carcassonne to celebrate my wife birthday and stayed in this hotel over the weekend. The hotel location is very central, near the canal and the train station and about 20-25 minutes to the old town. The building is very original originating from the 19th century and its full of character. It does require an update. We were upgraded... More

Friendly helpful staff but a hotel that needs a complete refurb. Faded grandeur indeed. Looks like nothing has been invested in it since about 1900. Dirty carpets, horrible smells, rusted balconies. Never again.

we stopped for 4 nights feel some people over critical , yes some parts could do with a refurb . but wouldnt you expect that we found all staff friendly and helpfull . The place oozes charm and we thought the breakfast was superb . Nice touch there was a nespresso machine in room . We would certainly use again

Stayed here for 3 nights and couldn't wait to leave. The pictures on the web site look much better than it really is. This hotel isn't worth 2 stars. It needs a total makeover , it's not just tired it's exhausted. The rooms are drab and the shower room is out of the 1950's. The only thing you could say... More

Faded grandeur at the entrance. Rooms, small and in need of total refurbishing. Staff unhelpful and with an attitude problem. Breakfast grossly overpriced and poor. An expensive weekend in a tatty hotel.

we were very disappointed with this hotel, the rooms were really dirty, there was black mould on the shower curtain and in the scratches in the bath, the dust on the doors was disgusting. the paint was peeling off the walls this was in the room they changed us to because I complained about how bad the first one was.... The hotel might have seen better days but it does have character. Handily located for both the railway station and Canal du Midi it is about a 15-20 minute walk from the medieval city. Some fellow travellers complained of small rooms but ours was big enough with view of the medieval city. Whilst the bathroom and bedding was very clean... More

Built I would guess 100 years ago and a good base in the town to stay. There is an elements of faded glory but the hotel is kept clear and tidy, with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The rooms are large and ours at the front of the hotel over looked the park and the Canal bu Midi, the bathroom... More

The hotel is tired and in desperate needs of refurbishment. Creaky floorboards, carpets without underlay, thin walls, dated furnishings etc. It is however clean and tidy with polite, helpful welcoming staff - it's saving grace. Breakfast is uninspiring with some of the worst scrambled egg on record. The evening meal (provided for a group trip) was ghastly. Cant comment on... More

This hotel needs to be refurbished as it is very shabby. The walls are paper-thin and there was an awful lot of door banging going on. Had lunch in the brasserie, which was awful. Was only staying for one night, so was pleased about that. Bed and pillows comfortable. Bathroom was so unappealing.
