We chose the Best Western Le Donjon because of its location. It was perfect for exploring within Cité de Carcassonne, restaurants, and the Château Comtal. Although we only stayed one night, the hotel staff was excellent and provided top-rate customer service for both check-in and check-out. Our room was superbly clean and comfortable. We definitely recommend this place!

Stayed just 1 night and had a nice room although the heater did not work in either the bedroom or the bathroom. It was a cold, rainy night, so I called for someone to fix the heating. Someone brought me an electric heater which turned on and off all night. I've stayed here before, but only during the summer. I... More

A friend recommended it on the basis there are very few hotels inside the medieval city itself. As much as anything it means it is easiest to enjoy the city at night once the vast crowds have left for the day. Very atmospheric after dark by the way. As a hotel was quite happy with it. Staff were friendly and... More

Great location. Very central within the old town walls. I prefer staying in the old cite to the main Carcassonne town over the river. It's lovely to stroll around the old cobbled streets & never more than 5 minutes from the hotel. A very comfortable hotel. I felt safe which was important to me as I was travelling alone. Reception... More

couldn't fault this place. In the heart of the old city in a medieval building so it didn't feel like a hotel chain. It was very reasonably priced, cheaper than the apartments advertised and far cheaper than other hotels. Double glazing meant you couldn't hear any noise outside although it was quiet when we were there. Nice little bar to... More

We had a 'courtyard' room, which was surprising. There were 4-6 rooms surrounding a courtyard with individual table and chairs, outside the door. We had an olive tree just beside our table (complete with black and green olives on it). So it was a fairly private area, but separate from the hotel. Our room had only the door and no... More

Positives: Great, central location inside Carcassonne medieval town. Room & bathrooms were nice and clean. Scenic view of street and rooftops of medieval town and towers. Negatives: Hotel set us up in rooms in a building separate from the main hotel/reception. We had to walk a few hundred feet to the main building for breakfast. It was also inconvenient when... More

Location in le Cite is wonderful. Carcassonne is is so close to the villages and wineries of the Languedoc. Thid location is ideal for exploring the beautiful region with its many picture perfect villages and wonderful wineries. The hotel is clean, the staff friendly, being inside of the fortress walls adds a special charm. Some excellent restaurants within a few... More

On arrival, we were initially disappointed to be given a room in the garden when most others in our group were in the main building. But what a great room number 43 was! A walk outside through the garden to a little block with three great rooms (plus three more on the other side of the garden) and the location... More
