Let me just say if you're not adventurous at heart do not stay here. Hotel Luxia was very dirty, the service was pretty bad and the location wasn't the best. However, if you look on the bright side, which is something you should always do in Paris, the hotel has charachter that adds to the experience. Not to mention the...

I stayed there for two nights last January. The only thing that really upset me was heating, in our room there was one really big heater and it didn't work, only leading pipes were hot, what means that there was working heating in this building but heaters were broken. Outside it was minus 2 or 3 so at night it...

This July, July 2011 I went on a school trip to Paris and we stayed at the Hotel Luxia. The location of the hotel is pretty good and considering we were going to be there for Bastille day the hotel was in the perfect place. (Though it is situated in a ghetto area of Paris, which could be quite dangerous...

We stayed for three nights at this hotel. I was very worried before I got there because of all the bad reviews, and I have to say most people on here do have a point. However, it is liveable. The reception area is quite nice, but once you go up the stairs the place is old and filthy. When we...

When we came to the hotel, the receptionist informed us that the hotel is having an electricity blackout and plumbing issue so that we had to be transferred to some other hotel. The new hotel was around 10 minutes walk from Luxia the opposite direction of Sacre Ceour (we booked Luxia for its close distance from Sacre Ceour for God's...

From what I heard, the hotel wasn't that bad. The room was okay, the carpet was a little bit dirty and dirt got stuck under my socks. There were some cracks in the color on the wall, but it didn't make me uncomfortable. The toilet was pretty okey, there were soap, toilet and a working shower with hot water. For...

Not very friendly staff ( except for Nadia...we loved her!) We had to wait for the breakfast until almost 8 o'clock in the morning everyday and they charged us for it even with the confirmation e-mail saying it was included in the price . The room was very old, kind of clean and very near to Anvers Metro Station. Carol...

I had initially read all of these students' bad reviews before going to Hotel Luxia and thought for a moment "Uh oh...maybe I should have checked out it's reviews before booking"... That all being said, I was very pleasantly surprised that this hotel was excellent in terms of staff/reception and the room I had (a nice little double with bathroom...

The worst hotel ever. I was on a school trip and the three days at the Hotel Luxia ruined Paris. The only thing that made me remotely happy was the view of Sacre Coeur. When we checked it there was drirty laundry in the stairwells. My bathroom floor had hair on it and there was a bar of soap in...

Staying in Montmartre

Neighbourhood Profile
Montmartre
Montmartre is a bustling mix of cultures, colours, and styles which changes from one street to another. Ride the funicular (or, for a real workout, climb the steps) to the sublime Sacré-Coeur (Basilica of the Sacred Heart) with its inspiring view of the city. The church is surrounded by provincial streets and piano bars where tourists, artists, and street entertainers thrive. At the foot of the hill, Boulevard de Clichy features shops not intended for young audiences, while residences are scattered to the north and east. The diverse population includes a large part from the Arab-speaking world, Africa, and Turkey. It’s a corner of Paris full of life and dynamism with charms that can’t be found anywhere else.
