We stayed at this hotel on the recommendation of a friend and were glad we did. It's incredibly central and has a lovely Left Bank feel, especially with its history of the famous writers and musicians who based themselves there. We requested a quiet off-street room with a bathtub, and it was perfect for what we wanted. Comfortable bed. Just...

I have been staying at the Hotel La Louisiane since 2001 every second for a reunion with friends. The hotel is basic at best and it doesn't set out to be any more. It is however located in a fantastic location with countless bistro, restaurants, bars, street markets and shops and is only a very short walk to Notredame and...

I loved everything about it. With the windows open I felt so connected to the city. The location was perfect, walking distance to the Seine and metro. There was no big screen TV in our room, but we didn't go to Paris to watch TV. 100% recommend, looking forward to staying there next time.

Welcome to Romania back in 1965! Run down, for lack of a better word, sinister, cannot believe they are still in business! On the other hand: cheap and well located. Make sure you carry a gun as you might want to shoot yourself in the mouth.

I discovered La Louisiane many years ago quite by chance and it immediately became my favourite hotel in Paris. While a long way from being luxurious, it is very comfortable and has everything you need from a hotel - a spacious room, a good size bed with a firm mattress, a bathroom (with daylight!) and even a mini fridge. If...

My wife and I stayed here to meet up with friends who know Paris well. The hotel is easy to find, has a great history as being the place that jazz musicians would stay at, is an easy walk to the Seine, and is surrounded by cafes, art galleries, boulangerie, fresh produce, wine and great people watching. The hotel lobby...

This hotel is only a couple of blocks from the metro station and only a couple of blocks away from the Seine River in the other direction. It is near the French Institute and the Louvre. It is located right in the center of great sidewalk cafes and shops. Grocery store and pharmacy are convenient. Our room was Spartan and...

While not luxurious -- the room reminded me of hotels I stayed in during younger days -- this slightly Spartan hotel room is clean and comfortable with an en suite bathroom. Hold out for a second-floor room with a balcony for people watching while you try one of the great French wines and enjoy looking out over a wonderful Saint...

I have been staying at La Louisiane for almost 10 years and it never disappoints.Rooms are clean, comfortable and spacious, although the lack of A/C and TV may not suit everyone. There are lots of nice big towels every day for the bath/ shower and extra pillows and blankets for cool nights. The location is just perfect, right at the...

Staying in Saint-Germain-des-Pres

Neighbourhood Profile
In Saint-Germain-des-Prés, life is effortlessly chic and all things are beautiful. The main boulevard is dotted with famed terraced cafés, haut-couture shops, ivy-covered railings and fine-dining restaurants. Antique dealers and art galleries surround the fine art school and small museums hide in unassuming squares. The neighbourhood’s namesake church is the oldest in Paris and is the backdrop for talented musicians every weekend. The Luxembourg Gardens house the national senate, splendid lawns and flourishing flower beds. Famous faces and bourgeois Parisians frequent Saint Germain accompanied by the students of Rue Saint Guillaume and Rue des Saints-Pères. This is a neighbourhood where afternoon people-watching from a café or playing cards in a brasserie are a key part of the daily fabric.

“Rooms on the courtyard side are quieter than rooms on the street. The "round rooms" are a larger size than others for a slightly elevated price. Note the room sizes can vary drastically - if it is not top season, You should be able to ask to see another room - I have found them to always be very accommodating.”

“If you have a fear of lifts, the lift is very small and the stairs quite steep so perhaps request a room on the lower levels”
