Delightful, characterful budget hotel in the heart of the Latin quarter. A truly unbeatable location, in a quiet side street, but never more than a few minutes walk to Notre Dame, Metro and RER lines, and many restaurant options in the St Michel area. We had an ensuite family room, and while somewhat small, had all the essential amenities -...

For my weeklong trip to Paris, I could not have asked for a better hotel! These are a few reasons why I feel Hotel Marginan is the perfect hotel for any visitor to paris: -5 minute walk from metro stop! -quaint market about a block away filled with fresh breads, cheeses, and scarves galore! -I don't speak a bit of...

When planning our trip to Paris my best friend and I wanted a hotel that was inexpensive but did not have the noise and uncleanliness of a hostel. Being two girls that are pretty low key and came to Paris to enjoy the sights and shop we appreciated the amazing location (five minute walk from Notre Dame, and two minute...

Located not far from the Sorbonne this great little hotel is perfect for exploring all the Left Bank has to offer. Three of us stayed in a four person room for two nights; the room had its own little toilet room but shared a shower with the rest of the floor (about 4 rooms). This may put some people off...

It's a simple hotel allright, but also cheap and in a good location. I arrived late (after closing time of the reception) but the staff arranged a very good and clear way for me to reach my room. I had room no. 7, which is small, has no real view, but is ok if you're a (business)traveller on a low...

We stayed here a few weeks ago and obviously you get what you pay for but if you want a clean room and friendly helpful staff then this is the place for you. It is a great location near restaurants and coffee bars. A short walk from notre dame and within easy metro or bus links for the eifel tower...

I and my friends, we stayed at Hotel Marignan for 4 nights. It was absolutely fantastic. There are lots of reasons that we liked this hotel. For instance, our room was big enough for four people and had a huge, modern bathroom. The area of the hotel is Saint Germain, the heart of Paris. It's totally safe and you can...

It was great to find a reasonably priced hotel in such a wonderful location that sleeps a family of five. We have stayed at the family run Hotel Marignan on three separate occasions and are looking forward to staying again ! The friendly, hospitable staff, the convenience of the included breakfast and most of all the quiet location in the...

We stayed 4 nights and recommend Hotel Marignan if you want a great value in the Latin Quarter. Manager Roland Keniger offers helpful information about Parisian sites. The breakfast served daily is very good and the rooms are well-heated in winter. The location steps from the Sorbonne and Boulevard St. Germain can't be better! For visitors traveling to/from DeGaulle airport,...

Staying in Quartier Latin

Neighbourhood Profile
Quartier Latin
The Latin Quarter bursts with intellectual life, architectural splendour and ongoing merriment. The small streets are filled with classical buildings, student bars and lively eateries while the squares are dominated by historic monuments. The area is defined by the 800-year-old Sorbonne University, where Latin once prevailed, and is famous for the Pantheon which celebrates the great men and women of France. During the day students rush from classes to the library and intellectuals people watch from the terraced cafés. As night time falls the surrounding establishments fill up and the merriment really begins. The liveliest parts are around Rue Mouffetard, lined with crêperies and international street food eateries, and Place de la Contrescarpe characterised by terraced brasseries, this neighbourhood provides real nourishment for the mind, belly, and soul.
