The hotel St. Jacques was a perfectly fine choice in a good location on the left bank (latin quarter), especially for the price of 140 euros per night. we had a room on the 5th floor (top floor) with a balcony which we requested. they didn't guarantee the balcony but were able to give it to us when we checked...

My two adult sons and I loved the Hotel San Jacques. It was clean and air-conditioned. The matresses were comfortable. The staff, especially Joe, were wonderful. The hotel is in the Latin Quarter near numerous restaurants and sites. We could see Notre Dame and the Pantheon from our balcony. Both were within a few short blocks of the hotel as...

My husband and I were so lucky to find this hotel. We had not made reservations prior to coming to Paris and thought we would "wing it" somewhere in the Latin Quarter/West Bank. We happened upon Hotel Saint Jacques and absolutely loved it. Joe at the front desk was most helpful in helping us arrange a river cruise and assisted...

pros: location, quiet, clean, good beds, helpful staff, 24hr reception, free use of laptop, has a lot of character, near metro, good a/c (only important because the street is too loud to keep windows open at night and on our trip the temp was in the mid 90s), cons:??? can't think of any If you can fit it in your...

My husband and I took our daughter and her friend to France to celebrate her high school graduation and 18th birthday. We had only two and a half days to spend in Paris and, after much frantic last minute searching on the internet to find hotel accomodations, were incredibly lucky to find the last two rooms at the Hotel Saint...

We stayed for six nights this past May. Location is very conducive to walking or riding the Metro around Paris. Many of the sites one would like to see are well within walking distance such as the Louvre, Notre Dame, many other museums and other sites of note. A good selection of restaurants can be found within a few blocks...

I stayed at the Hotel St. Jacques for 5 nights with my 17 year old daughter. We could not have made a better choice. This is a lovely, charming hotel in an excellent location. We stayed in a small room with 2 twin beds. The room was beautifully decorated in the classic French style. It was perfectly clean. We were...

We spent 5 nights in room #2 on the 2nd floor of the Hotel St. Jacques in late June/early July and had a pleasant stay. Room was of a decent size, had a very quaint decor and, more importantly, had an excellent working air conditioner which my always-too-warm husband appreciated. A/C was quiet, had a digital thermostat with high and...

Staying in Quartier Latin

Neighbourhood Profile
Quartier Latin
The Latin Quarter bursts with intellectual life, architectural splendour and ongoing merriment. The small streets are filled with classical buildings, student bars and lively eateries while the squares are dominated by historic monuments. The area is defined by the 800-year-old Sorbonne University, where Latin once prevailed, and is famous for the Pantheon which celebrates the great men and women of France. During the day students rush from classes to the library and intellectuals people watch from the terraced cafés. As night time falls the surrounding establishments fill up and the merriment really begins. The liveliest parts are around Rue Mouffetard, lined with crêperies and international street food eateries, and Place de la Contrescarpe characterised by terraced brasseries, this neighbourhood provides real nourishment for the mind, belly, and soul.
