Traveled with my grown daughter to Paris for 10 days for our first visit to the city. We enjoyed our stay at Hotel St. Jacques. It was perfect! We really liked the location and took the RER train from the CDG airport to within a short walking distance of the hotel. So easy! Centrally located and very charming hotel indeed!...

In the very center of Paris, but quietly located. Excellent access to metro, and walking distance to the most important tourist attractions. A lot of cafes and restaurants around, small groceries as well. We had the room on the top floor, with (very small) balcony - excellent view, spacious enough - especially if you compare it to other hotels in...

Hotel St Jacques is a small, charming, friendly boutique hotel. Apart from the small lobby, there is a tiny lounge/bar where you can read magazines and sip absinthe and also a nice breakfast room. The rooms are smallish but spotless and lovely, with elegant furnishings and windows and balconies. We were on the second floor, and from our balcony we...

We chose this hotel after reading all the helpful reviews on Trip Advisor. We booked a room about 6 months in advance mentioning that we would be celebrating our 40th anniversary and requested room #6 but unfortunately it was not available when we arrived. We were given room #16 which worked out just fine for us. It met all our...

The hotel is situated in Latin Quater, walking distance: 2 minutes to Pantheon, next to Sorbonne, 15 min to Notre Dame de Paris, 25-30 mins to Louvre. Metro is about 5 minutes away. There're many restaurants and cafes in the area, and Boulevard St Michel and St Germain are right there with many nice shops. The hotel is very nice,...

excellent hotel, very nice atmosphere. this hotel is in the style of French Belle Epoque, the staff is very friendly, the price is low in relation to the quality of the rooms and the service and given the central location near Sorbonne, Quartier Latin, etc.

Hotel St. Jacques is a lovely little hotel with a charming interior, well appointed rooms and a friendly staff. We enjoyed our stay and were happy to find that they had been "promoted" to 3 star status -- we couldn't imagine that such a fine hotel was listed as only 2 stars.

Our 3 night stay in early June was very comfortable and happy. Superior double room was of a reasonable size with a good sized bathroom. The painting on the ceiling and wall gave it great character. Windows onto the street gave it a pleasant outlook withour too much noise. Staff were all helpful and obliging with more than enough English...

With new and excellent rooms, with air conditioner and luxury bathrooms, I found a new Hotel Saint Jacques. Salmon, cheeses, fresh fruits, ham, very tasty breads, yogurts, a perfect brunch is now the breakfast of Hotel Saint Jacques. Congratulations to the direction of the hotel for the renovation, that, no doubt, is the best option to stay in Paris. For...

Staying in Quartier Latin

Neighbourhood Profile
Quartier Latin
The Latin Quarter bursts with intellectual life, architectural splendour and ongoing merriment. The small streets are filled with classical buildings, student bars and lively eateries while the squares are dominated by historic monuments. The area is defined by the 800-year-old Sorbonne University, where Latin once prevailed, and is famous for the Pantheon which celebrates the great men and women of France. During the day students rush from classes to the library and intellectuals people watch from the terraced cafés. As night time falls the surrounding establishments fill up and the merriment really begins. The liveliest parts are around Rue Mouffetard, lined with crêperies and international street food eateries, and Place de la Contrescarpe characterised by terraced brasseries, this neighbourhood provides real nourishment for the mind, belly, and soul.
