The people have been relatively friendly considering the language barrier. The hotel appears clean but is very very old. Beds are tiny, basically a mattress on the floor. Breakfast is not a breakfast more a bun to snack on. Shower is a tub with a hose. Noisy as it's right next to the 'adult' area of town. Close to the...

We stayed one night, before moving to an apartment we rented for a week. The hotel is quite spartan, with few ammenities. It was clean and relatively quiet. The breakfast was simple but adequate. Like everything in Paris it is overpriced. The big negative is the neighborhood. It is the red light district, full of seedy bars and "message parlors"....

We stopped here for the absinthe service, which had been recomended. The hotel bar was an elegant, cozy place to hang out and the hotel itself was a nice escape from Pigalle. The bartender was pleasant, and we had fun trying this unusual drink.

We visited Paris mid October 2010 and was recommended Hotel Royal Fromentin. How this hotel could be recommended is a mystery to us. First of all the hotel is situated in the heaviest sex-district in Paris! Not to recommend for families with children! When checking in the person in the reception was very irritated - like we were not welcome....

Located just off Rue de Steinkerque, it it very to the nightclubs, theatres, and music venues (such as the Boule Noir and Elysee Montmartre) of the area. Paris attractions Moulin Rouge and Sacré-Coeur Basilica are close by. Many businesses nearby are "adult" in nature, this is perhaps an area not suitable for kids or Moral Majority members. For an old...

Just spent the weekend at the Royal Fromentin. Exactly what we expected. Hotel clean and staff pleasant. Breakfast was good - great coffee. Central location between Blanch and Pigalle Metro stations for easy access to rest of the city. Area as described - a bit tacky but not threatening - even at night. Go to Abbesse area for good food...

Very disappointed when I saw the inside of this hotel and even more when we arrived at our small room with well worn and stained carpet, curtains that badly needed washed and an antique tv. This was my husband's 60th birthday present and when I booked a 3* hotel in Paris I did not expect this. The bathroom was ok...

I stayed here in September with my friend. The hotel is nice. It's not luxurious inside the rooms but more than sufficient. We had a twin room which was huge with 2 double beds. There was a flat screen tv (although we never watched TV we were too busy out and about). The included breakfast is nice - breads, cheeses,...

The Hotel royal Fromentin is just off the main street for the Red Light district so don't be surprised to see a lot of sex advertising, girlie bars and a variety of dubious individuals hanging around the streets - this location is not for the faint-hearted! Saying that, the hotel is very central which is a plus. On the down...

Staying in Opera / Bourse

Neighbourhood Profile
Opera / Bourse
The neighbourhood around Opéra and Bourse is a belle époque paradise of grand boulevards, refined arcades, and mass-market art-nouveau entertainment. Here, modern day workers continue to take advantage of the legacy that nobility and finance left in the 19th century. Brightly-lit brasseries, theatres, and cinemas sit side by side with French bistros predominating in one area and Japanese restaurants in another. The area is most famous for the Palais Garnier opera house and glamorous department stores.
