We stayed at des Balcons for two nights in July 2014 and had one quadriduple room for four and another superior room for two persons. We requested an upper floor and noted the hotel of our early arrival in advance. At arrival well before 11 am, adjacent rooms in the highest floor were ready for us! The service was extremely...

This is a perfect little hotel in the heart of the "Latin Quarter". In walking distance to dozens of food places, cafes, bars, etc., and also many of Paris' wonderful tourist attractions, It is right next to the Sorbonne -- the leading university and academic research centers of the world. You can't beat the location. I was there attending a...

This was our second stay(this time with friends) and again we enjoyed the hotel. Our rooms were on the first and third floors overlooking the street, both had small balconies. It is lovely to open the windows to let the breeze in in the evening. The rooms although on the small side, are very clean and comfortable and the staff are very...

This small but conveniently located hotel is a must for those who want to be in the 5th and close to metro and other sights. The staff were very pleasant and the room was well appointed. The price of the breakfast was a bit steep but adequate. Would book here again.

We stayed 3 nights and were very happy with this pleasant small hotel. We had a small but well appointed first floor room with a little balcony overlooking a fairly quiet street. Excellent location close to Odeon Theatre and Jardin du Luxembourg. Friendly, helpful reception staff, who recommended an excellent restaurant nearby. Good breakfasts, including some hot food. Would certainly...

The Grand Hotel des Balcons is very centrally located. The rooms were clean but quite small. Be prepared to climb the stairs to the top floors because the lift is very small. Able to open the windows.

My daughter and I stayed here for two nights recently, the 5th hotel in 10 days of traveling. We could not connect to wifi, although had no problem in the previous hotels. The front desk told us that it must be our phone. The blowdryer did not work. The faucet in the bathroom was loose, not really fastened to the...

Nicely situated just above Jardin de Luxembourg. Quiet street, but plenty of cafes, restaurants, good sight seeing all around. Helpful, pleasant staff. Breakfast a bit expensive, but well worth it if you want more than just coffee and croissant to keep you going. My single room quite small and no chair, but I'd stay again.

We stayed over an autumn weekend with my husband on a wedding anniversary trip. We preferred to pay a bit more for a good location, not expecting the greatest hotel, which turned out to be the correct estimation. Upon arrival we got a backyard room on the first floor, which was disappointing as we were looking out at the garbage...

Staying in Saint-Germain-des-Pres

Neighbourhood Profile
Saint-Germain-des-Pres
In Saint-Germain-des-Prés, life is effortlessly chic and all things are beautiful. The main boulevard is dotted with famed terraced cafés, haut-couture shops, ivy-covered railings and fine-dining restaurants. Antique dealers and art galleries surround the fine art school and small museums hide in unassuming squares. The neighbourhood’s namesake church is the oldest in Paris and is the backdrop for talented musicians every weekend. The Luxembourg Gardens house the national senate, splendid lawns and flourishing flower beds. Famous faces and bourgeois Parisians frequent Saint Germain accompanied by the students of Rue Saint Guillaume and Rue des Saints-Pères. This is a neighbourhood where afternoon people-watching from a café or playing cards in a brasserie are a key part of the daily fabric.
