Small, boutique Parisian hotel in the heart of Marais area ......lovely restaurants close by, designer and independent shops, and walking distance to Pompidou centre, and Notre Dame, and metro giving easy access to all destinations, and close to the Seine.. Hotel itself is charming and quaint. Beds very comfortable. Room decent size, bathroom clean, but no air conditioning, and definitely... More

The staff at the hotel are so kind and helpful, it felt like family. The hotel is older, but still has charm. The rooms are small and the bathroom only had a bathtub with a shower wand (made hairwashing difficult). The location is excellent and everyone who worked there was so nice!

This is a lovely small family-run hotel in the heart of the Marais with its narrow and colourful streets. The hotel is very clean with a charmingly original style. And the service is excellent and friendly without being at all obtrusive. With its location it is the perfect place from which to explore the Marais, the Isle St. Louis and... More

Minus: furniture old, mattress with foam material, all a little bit oldfashion, etc. Plus: large room, large bathroom, clean, mini-bar correct filled and cheap, With a water heater and coffee, it would be better.

We had a great stay at the Hotel de la Bretonnerie. The staff are extremely friendly, helpful, and professional. The rooms are very comfortable and beautiful. The temperatures in Paris were about 20 degrees above normal for early September, but the partly open window and a fan let us sleep comfortably. Notre Dame Cathedral is just a short walk, as... We enjoyed our stay at the Hotel de la Bretonnerie. The staff was friendly and helpful. The location was within walking distance of the metro. We also walked to Notre Dame ( a short walk) and the Louvre, which was further away. We had a room facing a courtyard, so street noise was not a problem. The room did not... More

Always good to arrive here, not the top of luxury, but always consistent and clean for the price. Super staff, room are quirky and very French. Super little breakfast cave, with fresh squeezed orange juice and a nice spread of pastry and other breakfast foods. We stay here every trip to Paris.

Don't let the lack of A/C stop you from experiencing this charming (and very French) little pet-friendly hotel. The staff is helpful and professional, the rooms are each unique, super clean and functioning, the lobby is comfortable, and the location can't be beat. Everything in walking distance. You should mind that it can be very hot in Paris in August. Just fans in most of the rooms. Best kept secret for all the other times of the year. The room decor is a real treasure. We love it.

Staying in Le Marais

Neighbourhood Profile
Le Marais
The Marais is a winding maze of multi-faceted streets that beg to be explored. It bursts with small boutiques, historic buildings, cozy traditional restaurants, and hidden parks. Around each corner, you'll come across little gems of architecture spanning the centuries, from understated medieval towers to classical libraries and 17th century splendour. This neighbourhood unites a rich mix of people of all ages, but it's best known for the gay scene mostly in the south and the Jewish community around Rue des Rosiers.
