The location is great- on a quiet street right between Saint Germain des pres and Montparnasse, a lovely and lively neighborhood (lively after 10am, that is), walking distance from marche Raspil, Luxemburg park and great patisseries and restaurants, and close to Metro stations of lines 4 and 12 giving you an easy way to get anywhere. The room is not...

There was also a Metro station right out front basically and the RER is about a 10 minute walk from the hotel. The...

I had the opportunity to stay for a week over Christmas in this hotel’s best room: #62, the Junior Suite on the sixth floor with a fine view of Boulevard du Montparnasse. Recently renovated with contemporary bathroom fixtures and an efficient HVAC system, the room has an attractive dance mural which reflects the hotel’s quirky ballet theme (see photo). As...

We stayed at Atelier Saint-Germain from Nov 24-Nov 30, 2013. It is in a great location, very, very close to Vavin metro station and also very close to Montparnasse-Bienvenue and Edgar Quinet stations. The hotel has been very nicely renovated; the bathrooms are very stylish and basically seem brand new. I loved the décor and bed was comfy. The staff...

Staying in Saint-Germain-des-Pres

Neighbourhood Profile
Saint-Germain-des-Pres
In Saint-Germain-des-Prés, life is effortlessly chic and all things are beautiful. The main boulevard is dotted with famed terraced cafés, haut-couture shops, ivy-covered railings and fine-dining restaurants. Antique dealers and art galleries surround the fine art school and small museums hide in unassuming squares. The neighbourhood’s namesake church is the oldest in Paris and is the backdrop for talented musicians every weekend. The Luxembourg Gardens house the national senate, splendid lawns and flourishing flower beds. Famous faces and bourgeois Parisians frequent Saint Germain accompanied by the students of Rue Saint Guillaume and Rue des Saints-Pères. This is a neighbourhood where afternoon people-watching from a café or playing cards in a brasserie are a key part of the daily fabric.
