The location is in the academic infused 5th Arrondissement where the Panthéon is across the street and the Sorbonne law school is across the plaza. The area is dominated by the large, elegant Sorbonne campus. It is a 12-minute walk from the RER B Luxembourg Metro station which goes to CDG.
A fruit basket was provided as a welcome gift. While the room, #62, was small by U.S. standards, it was to be expected in Paris and was spotless, a tribute to the housekeeping staff. The room faced the rear which did not yield a noteworthy view, but it was preferable to me because it was shielded from street sounds. It had a thermostat for both heat and a/c and access to quick WiFi. The lighting was soft although I would include a bright reading lamp. The small TV encroached on valuable desk space and would have been more practical if it was mounted on the wall.
The bathroom was sizable with a deep tub and high-tech controls for rain, handheld or bath. It had a generous amount of counter space and fog proof mirrors, including a shaving mirror. There was a towel warmer which was great for me because I swam in the nearby Jean Taris pool, and my swimsuit dried quickly.
With all of the positive amenities, the hotel would not be at such a caliber had it not been for the staff. Alexandra and Jeanne stood out as being warm, welcoming, caring, patient and so helpful. They both had the innate ability to anticipate their guest’s needs.
I would certainly return to HGH on my return to Paris without hesitation!

I wanted a safe, centrally located, easily accessible place to stay in Paris, where I could be comfortable for an extended period of time. I found all this during my stay at Hotel Des Grands Hommes, which a travel agent friend recommended. A quiet elevator led to my very French room, charming and comfy with all the amenities I might need. Once I unpacked, my luggage was stored, &I felt immediately at home. The bed was comfortable with a variety of pillows, the linens were good quality and well laundered, without irritants. The housekeeping staff was thorough and mindful. Breakfast was served in a lower level dining area, with a few newspapers available in a variety of languages. Dishes were served both hot and cold. I used the front desk as a resource for all things Paris- when to go where, what not to miss, where to eat in the neighborhood and all of my inquiries were unfailingly met with patience, courtesy and competence. Alexandra and Dora put me at ease, fluent in both French and English, they welcomed sharing their local knowledge and perspective. The Hotel is located near a Metro station and a short walk to several bus stops. Conveniently near The Pantheon, many buses display “Pantheon” as their terminal stop, an added bonus. The staff speaks a variety of languages, so are easily able to assist most guests. I will stay here again

The hotel has a great location, right next to the Pantheon. For all “Emily in Paris” fans, the apartment building with park and restaurant from the series is located right on the other side of the hotel and can be visited superbly. The room was very nice and also the bathroom was really nice. It was all very clean and the staff was nice and accommodating. We were in Paris with our dog and for a small extra charge of 15€ per night he was of course allowed to go to the hotel. Since our dog is a bit bigger we even got a bigger room without a price premium. The breakfast was also delicious and all in all the place was really nice and we would definitely recommend it again. For all romantics, you can watch the Eiffel Tower glitter directly from the Pantheon (i.e. 1 minute walk from the hotel) from 7 p.m. onwards at every full hour. So great hotel, highly recommended and if we come back to Paris, we will very much stay at the Hôtel des Grands Hommes again. 😍🥰

We've stayed here for several nights in 2019 and 2023 and had wonderful experiences. We chose the hotel for it's location in the Latin Quarter and because it was an independent French hotel, rather than a chain. The decor is beautiful and the specific room we like best has direct access to a table and chairs in a quiet courtyard. The beds are very comfortable, and the bathroom facilities are new and high-end with good water pressure in the shower. The staff are all friendly and very helpful and accommodating. They speak French, and most of them also speak English too. The guests appear to be a mix of European business travelers and tourists from the US, UK and France. We look forward to staying here again soon.

The hotel is simply perfect, whether it is value for money, you will be spoiled! I stayed in this establishment in January 2024, and I think it is one of the best Parisian hotels I know (having occupied quite a few). The staff is attentive and always responds to our most demanding needs, the location of the hotel is just symbolic if you have a view of the Pantheon, and if you are looking for Parisian architecture, in certain The rooms have terraces overlooking the hotel courtyard (my friend had a room like this). The comfort of the rooms is just phenomenal, I had to get up at 8am however I missed my alarm because of that, if you know what I mean. I ideally recommend this hotel! I will return there during my next stay, it’s unmissable!

We had a wonderful stay in the romantic suite on the 6th (top - there is an elevator - ) floor, which was topped by the magnificent view of the Pantheon, which you can also see from the bed. In addition, there is a beautifully designed balcony with furniture, which extends over the entire width of the apartment, and from which you can watch the hustle and bustle in the Place de Pantheon. You can also look out over the rooftops and even see Sacre Coeur in the distance. The beds are designed for a restful sleep, including pillows. The bathroom is modern and equipped with everything, including bathrobe and shoes. The hotel staff are all very friendly and accommodating. Congratulations were even made on the birthday (thanks again to the hotel team). Also, upon arrival, you will be welcomed with a small bag of macarons and a personal message in the suite (also water). We wanted to have breakfast from the beginning in the city, so we can't say anything about it. The cleanliness should also be emphasized. So a wonderful complete package. An unqualified Recommendation from us.

I stayed at Hotel Des Grands Hommes the weekend of 4th/5th November 2023 as my daughter had arranged a special 80th birthday treat in Paris for me. There were seven of us on the trip and we booked three rooms at the Hotel Des Grands Hommes, 17 Place du Pantheon, Ile de France.
On Saturday 4th November the family caught an early Eurostar from St Pancras to Gare du Nord and took a short metro journey to Luxembourg. We easily found the hotel, which was a short walk away next to the Pantheon itself. This was an excellent area from which to explore Paris; Notre Dame was only about 15 minutes walk away through the famous Latin Quarter and across the River Seine. From around the corner we could see the Eiffel Tower in the distance.
The staff at the hotel, which we found in an 18th century building, were very welcoming and in a very friendly way took care of our luggage as we were too early to check in. When we were arrived back at 3pm from exploring Paris I was in for a treat. My daughter had told the staff it was my 80th birthday and the hotel had given me a wonderful suite (I was upgraded to the best suite in the house) on the sixth floor with a balcony. They had filled the small sitting room with cheerful birthday balloons, left macaroons for me and put up banners saying “Joyeux Anniversaire”.
I was really touched and thrilled. It added to my tremendous excitement at being back in Paris after several years and staying in a traditional French hotel for the first time. The decor was wonderful and there were reproductions of old masters on the walls.
I would like to say thank you to the wonderful staff, who made us all so welcome - Geoffrey, Manuel, Solange, Camille, Nicholas, and Margot (the Deputy Manager), to name a few. Nothing was too much trouble. I can’t wait to stay there again.

I was celebrating a milestone birthday so my best friend graciously booked us a room for our last four days in Paris at the beautiful Hotel des Grands Hommes. We were charmed by the Superior Pantheon room's beauty and attention to detail, especially after having stayed our first four nights at a more expensive yet significantly less appealing corporate brand in the 11th arrondissement.
This particular room has a balcony, and while small, it was most enjoyable. Not only did we get to enjoy our morning coffee while watching Paris wake up, but we saw some spectacular Bastille Day celebrations both on the night of 13th and on the 14th before we checked out.
I'll conclude my comments about the room by saying that the air con worked great, the french doors are soundproof, and every inch of space was maximized for the guest's benefit. I've never seen 16 m2 so efficiently designed. I absolutely loved this room!
The hotel is also geographically well situated. We relied a lot on the Metro and the Cardinal Lemoine station was just a short 7-minute walk from the hotel which is located in the Latin Quartier, a lively area due to its prolific student population.
Now about the service: It was impeccable! Manuel was at reception when we checked in. Talk about making a great first impression! We had some trouble setting up our room safe and Manuel was so helpful, and frankly, so patient with us. I have to admit, we (okay, I) asked a lot of questions of both Manuel and Guilherme (who we met at reception the next day) as I'm clearly geographically challenged. One morning, we had an early tour at the Eiffel Tower. Guilherme who had just finished his overnight shift, I think picked up on my concern about getting lost again (we had gotten lost sooooo many times in the previous few days even using Google walk). Incredibly, Guilherme walked us most of the way to the Eiffel Tower to make sure we didn't miss our time slot. Guilherme, you are exceptionally kind! All of the Grands Hommes' staff were amazingly patient and attentive, and they made our stay so pleasantly memorable.
My husband and I are going back to Paris later this year, and I've already booked our room at the Hotel des Grands Hommes. I can't wait to stay there again, and I highly recommend this lovely hotel.

I originally chose this hotel mainly because of its proximity to my daughter's apartment. But the hotel's lovely amenities and the friendliness of the hotel staff won me over, and now I consider this to be my first choice for my return visits to Paris. The rooms are tastefully and charmingly decorated, and are very clean and comfortable. The bathroom with its walk-in shower was immaculate, well-lit, and even included a seat in the shower, not comments I always make about Parisian hotel bathrooms. I'm not an early riser, so was glad to see that the breakfast room service delivery extended to 11 am, later than most Paris hotels offer. I very much look forward to my next visit. All in all, a most enjoyable stay!

Dear Iaprof,
We thank you so much for your question. We confirm the hotel has a charming and cosy bar, available 24/7. For information, the hotel does not offer cocktails per sei, although you can enjoy a nice glass of wine, champagne etc.
Best Regards
Manuel
Like most hotel mini bars it is quite small, but a few yoghurts will be no problem and of course you could remove some beer or soft drinks and put back before you leave.
