We chose Josephine because it is near the Moulin Rouge. We were not disappointed. It is quite delightful. I can't speak more highly of the staff - very friendly and helpful. The hotel is modest in size but has so many quirky facilities which give it great character. We had a well equipped room on the top floor. Comfortable generous...

Stayed for 2 nights, can't rate the staff highly enough, they were amazing! Nothing was too much trouble. Perfectly located 2 mins from Moulin Rouge and Blanche metro station so easy to get anywhere. Just down the hill from the Sacre Coeur so hundreds of restaurants and cafes around to choose from. Breakfast was reasonably priced and had a great...

We had a really pleasant stay at Hotel Joséphine. The personnel are friendly and happy to help you. The rooms were very clean and we loved the theme. Breakfast had everything you'd want. Not too much but surely not too little :) I'd recommend this hotel to everyone. Also a plus: literally a street away from Moulin Rouge. Merci!

What's not to like about a hotel that offers free absinthe in the evenings? The room was small (normal for Paris) but fitted in a desk & wardrobe as well as the bed. As well as the free cocktails (absinthe or non-alcoholic fruit juice), there was also a free nespresso machine in the lobby, a small library, and phone charging...

A 3-night city break at a great hotel near the Moulin Rouge, brilliant location for the metro which is approximately a 3 minute walk. Hotel had a great theme and atmosphere, staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was on the street side so there was some noise but to be expected if that's the location of the hotel....

I wish I could rate this place higher. It's convenient to the metro, the staff is friendly and helpful, the rooms were good-sized, the breakfast was tasty, and the absinthe was divine. However, we hardly slept because it was so noisy every night. The room was hot and the air conditioner didn't work so we had to have the windows...

This is a modest hotel, modestly priced (for Paris) but the No 68 bus almost right outside takes you zimming down to the Opera, the Louvre and the Musee D'Orsay. The rooms are modest but scrupulously clean with windows that, in our case, actually opened. A bit noisy perhaps, but the fabulously friendly and welcoming staff more than made up...

Well located for a 2 night city break, about a 20 minute walk from the Gare du Nord. Plenty of bars and restaurants in the vicinity. Friendly and welcoming staff. Did have to wait a short while to check in as only one of the four rooms booked was ready when we arrived. Comfortable rooms though not very sound proof!...

Great location for sightseeing around Paris and close to Montmatre. The rooms are well equipped and decor is very tasteful. The staff are wonderful and very helpful. Breakfast choice is extensive and tasty! Would recommend popping into other 'Happyculture' hotels during happy hour. We were made to feel very welcome

Having stayed in The Marais and near Place Des Vosges on our last two stays, this area was a much edgier experience but one that should be seen. The hotel is close to the Moulin Rouge, Folies Bergeres and the sex shops of the Pigalle. It calms down a lot by the time it reaches the hotel and in the...

Staying in Opera / Bourse

Neighbourhood Profile
Opera / Bourse
The neighbourhood around Opéra and Bourse is a belle époque paradise of grand boulevards, refined arcades, and mass-market art-nouveau entertainment. Here, modern day workers continue to take advantage of the legacy that nobility and finance left in the 19th century. Brightly-lit brasseries, theatres, and cinemas sit side by side with French bistros predominating in one area and Japanese restaurants in another. The area is most famous for the Palais Garnier opera house and glamorous department stores.
