We spent two nights in the Novotel Les Halles with our eight year old granddaughter, who really enjoyed it. The property is well located, within walking distance of many sights, including Notre Dame, the Pompidou Centre and the Louvre. There is a metro and RER entrance (Chatelet) outside the front door. The immediate area is somewhat run down and a...

The hotel is superficially very nice looking, with contemporary and smart decor...and prices to match. The maintenance was poor tho. Only one of the 3 small lifts worked, so inevitably there were always queues so we used the stairs all weekend. There was a leak in the lobby so buckets and water were laid in front of the lifts. The...

This was my second stay at this hotel and, considering the good deal I got online for it, I think it was good value. My room was very stuffy and I was told that the system hadn't switched over from heating to air-conditioning yet. The room looked out on the atrium so the window was locked. But I was then...

As another reviewer commented, the hotel is very conveniently located with both RER and the Metro interchange within the Les Halles Forum. Shopping & transport is therefore literally on your doorstep. Bars, brasseries and restaurants are again all within walking distance. Close to Hotel de Ville, Notre Dame and the Louvre. However, that is all on the ‘plus’ side. The...

Hotel is conveniently located in town and by the trains both the metro and RED. Lots of shopping, restaurants, and parks within walking distance. Close to the Lourve. Easily see the twinkling lights of the Eifel tower at nightfall. Short trip to the river. Hotel lobby nice. The staff is slow though so lines can become long. There are two...

In typical Paris fashion once again we were very disappointed with our accommodation. Having stayed at the awful Le Meridien Etoile the previous year we hoped that Novotel would prove a better choice. NOT! We booked a "Junior Suite/Family Room". We arrived at a hotel with one person doing check in (there were about 5 families waiting in line). Our...

My husband and two children recently stayed at this hotel ( 29Dec 07 - 1 Jan 08). The location of the hotel is very convenient especially for access to train and the surrounding sites of Paris eg: Lourve. On arrival the check in staff were most helpful and allowed us to check in early which was greatly appreciated. The room...

I was really happy with this hotel - it was part of a package and I was a bit wary. However, the lobby and breakfast area are quite lovely and my room on the 8th floor had amazing views - the Sacre Coeur in the distance and St. Eustache just below. The room had a sitting area with big windows...

We stayed in the Hotel for a Family Birthday weekend and must say that we were very disappointed. The Novotel Paris les Halles is really only suited as a budget business hotel, not for a nice romantic getaway. The whole hotel has a dated late-80s feel to it. Location The location is fine, with minutes from Paris Les Halles, Centre...

My husband and I stayed at Novotel Les Halles for one week. The amenities are modern and in good working condition by Paris hotels' standard. That is the heat and hot water was more than sufficient and the mattress was firm. The bathroom was renovated and has an efficient layout which reminds you of a Japanese hotel's. The drain was...

Staying in Les Halles

Neighbourhood Profile
Les Halles
Historically the central iron-clad market of Paris, Les Halles has evolved architecturally since then but the pulsating energy has stayed the same. Now it houses the main shopping mall, which nestles underground surrounded by fast-food take-aways and international restaurants coupled with beautiful churches and the old commodity exchange. Parallel to it are the high-street stores of Rue de Rivoli and just parallel to that the Seine. The area bustles with faces from all continents and all ages at all times of the day. If enjoying high-street shopping with easy access to fast eateries and lively bars is on your agenda, this is the place to go.
