Two week stay used as home base to explore Paris and environs. Primo central location with close access to metro and train stations to go anywhere in Paris; also used for inexpensive, easy day trips to Versailles, Chantilly, Fontainebleau and Chartres. Standard room was roomy by Paris standards, clean, quiet, tub and shower, cleaned daily with linens replaced, comfortable bed....

Great location, great service. Would skip the breakfast and go to St. Regis cafe down the street, which never disappointed. Extremely convenient to everything, quiet and with loads of architectural character. Great cheese monger steps away and the original Berthillion ice cream very near, though also unpredictable as to hours. Can't go wrong.

Second (and third) time at this hotel. Lovely place with comfortable rooms. Not spacious by Asia Pacific or North American standards, but certainly considerably bigger than much of Paris. Hard to beat the location. Literally on the doorstep of Notre Dame and right beside the Marais and the Latin Quarter. Very easy to get around the City by Metro -...

5 minutes from metro, ships and restaurants within minutes. Staff welcoming and friendly, smiling faces everywhere. Room amenities better than anticipated, including robe and slippers that came in handy for using steam room. Comfortable bed and fast free wifi. Great coffee!

This is a very good hotel in the main. The conversion is remarkably well done and the neighbourhood is absolutely fantastic. A few things to note though: ground floor rooms open right onto the communal area which isn't ideal. Our room on the second floor had a spiral staircase to the bedroom which was fine but pretty tight (they do...

Really loved this hotel and will definitely return. It's in a great location walkable to many sites. The decor is really nice. The staff was very friendly, courteous, and helpful, especially since we do not speak French. Nice room size. Bed was comfortable and the linens were plush. There is a really cute puppy on site who is playful and...

Gorgeous location and SUCH a beautiful hotel inside and out. A real treat when I went with my mother for a girly trip away. Just a short walk from all the best places and the staff were charming. Love the ceiling in the main part of the lobby.

With a seven minute walk from the direct RER B line to CDG airport (Saint-Michel–Notre-Dame station) and to Metro 1 line (St. Paul station) and within a block of excellent restaurants, you can't beat the location of du Jeu de Paume. The front desk staff is unbeatably helpful and the breakfast is excellent. The building renovation is beautiful; very modern...

Excellent location for walking, restaurants and small shops for shopping. Nice quiet room in the back of hotel. Friendly and helpful staff. Room was small but comfortable with a workable window. Non smoking room as well. Little galleries nearby and many paper stores to wander in and out of. Very close to the river and Notre Dame. Great neighborhood.

We had an excellent stay at the Jeu du Paume. The staff was pleasant and helpful (for those for whom it is a concern, they do speak excellent English). The RER train takes you for the airport to the Cite stop, which is a short walk from the hotel. Unlike our other hotels in France, there is good lighting in...

Staying in Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis

Neighbourhood Profile
Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis
Two islands sit in the middle of the Seine at the very heart of Paris. The more majestic one, Ile de la Cité, sparkles with history. This is the birthplace of Paris, the home of the Gothic Sainte-Chapelle, and the site of the prison where Marie Antoinette was held before her execution. Tourists flock to see the iconic Notre Dame and the beautiful bridges that straddle the Seine. Ile Saint-Louis, the more provincial island, welcomes you with cozy traditional eateries, small boutiques, and what some people say is the best ice cream in the city. This is essential Paris from its very beginnings to its modern appeal.
