Exactly what we were looking for a small cosy hotel in a less touristy neighbourhood. From a side street you enter a courtyard where the entrance of the hotel is situated. Checking in was more like a fun conversation than filling out the paperwork. The room was clean, had everything we needed and overlooked the courtyard. Breakfast was French style,...

I've been here twice and it will always be my first choice when going to Paris, Lovely atmosphere, friendly and professional staff! Laid back and romantic with a quiet garden in the hotel's atrium where you can relax with a glass of wine after sightseeing and shopping all day. Easy access to several metros and walking distance to lots of...

My sister and I were only able to spend the night of October 31, 2016 at this lovely & serene hotel. We really hope to return in 2017 from our home near Boston, Massachusetts, USA. We loved our room which was beautifully decorated with matching flowered wall paper and drapes, and which had a grand old-fashioned window that opened onto...

I must confess: I consider Ernest Hemingway as one of the greatest writer of all times (The Old Man and the Sea!). So, my attitude towards this hotel started on the positive side when I discovered that it is on the same street were Hemingway lived when he was young and poor (you can see his house a few meters...

We were looking for a small hotel on the Left Bank of Paris and had Hotel des Grand Ecoles recommended to us. It was exactly what we were looking for. A small French hotel not a large urban one. The staff was very helpful and friendly. We really appreciated the welcome we got after a long flight from Seattle. It...

My friend and I stayed here for the past weekend. Our room, 106 was above the reception and close to the elevator which was noisy. The view was of the back of an apartment complex and one of the neighbours was extremely noisy until about 4am. The room was supposed to be a Twin Plus (€145 per night) but it...

Absolutely zero WIFI: even though it says it's connected it doesn't work. You will have to go to cafes and restaurants to get WIFI. This makes it very difficult, especially when traveling alone. The front desk people are really nice, except for (I think) the manager, Marie. Extremely snooty and was very surly that I asked to use their phone...

I don't want to give a great review or you will all start coming here. This place is perfect yet imperfect and I would not changd a thing. The staff are friendly and welcoming as if you were staying at thier private residence. The courtyard is a joy for breakfast or resting after manic Paris touristing (if only they sold...

For the end of our two week trip to the South of France, my wife and I had booked an Air B&B flat in Rue Cardinal Lemoine. It turned out to be a claustrophobic cupboard, carved out of a much grander salon, with a bed perched precipitately under the ceiling; we feared sleepless nights, climbing up and down the rickety...

Clean and friendly good value hotel in a convenient neighborhood that's not too touristy. We had a twin room on the 3rd floor with a beamed ceiling, large bathroom, great shower, nice bath amenities. Very quiet considering you are in the center of Paris. Good value breakfast French Style, with more coffee than you would get at a cafe, but...

Staying in Quartier Latin

Neighbourhood Profile
Quartier Latin
The Latin Quarter bursts with intellectual life, architectural splendour and ongoing merriment. The small streets are filled with classical buildings, student bars and lively eateries while the squares are dominated by historic monuments. The area is defined by the 800-year-old Sorbonne University, where Latin once prevailed, and is famous for the Pantheon which celebrates the great men and women of France. During the day students rush from classes to the library and intellectuals people watch from the terraced cafés. As night time falls the surrounding establishments fill up and the merriment really begins. The liveliest parts are around Rue Mouffetard, lined with crêperies and international street food eateries, and Place de la Contrescarpe characterised by terraced brasseries, this neighbourhood provides real nourishment for the mind, belly, and soul.
