I am 68. When I was 26 I came here the first time with my new wife and kid after leaving East Africa where I had worked for two years. That was in 1975. We have been returning once a year ever since. I prefer the right bank although I have also gone fancy on the other side of the...

This is an elegant 4-star hotel in the sixth arondissment of Paris tucked away in a courtyard on a side street a few blocks from Saint-Sulpice and the Luxembourg Gardens. It is well regarded in the guidebooks such as Rick Steves, and it is hard to quarrel with the location. In the normal course of affairs I would probably rate...

My favorite tea / coffee spot in the Latin Quarter area. So quiet, charming, and cosy. The perfect spot to relax after a busy walk in the St Germain / Odeon / Luxembourg area ! Staff is very caring & nice. Highly recommended!

By far the best service we've had at any hotel in year. From the front desk to the room service, the people who worked at this hotel know how to treat clients. While we visited my husband and I became ill - unfortunate I know but the people at the hotel were genuinely concerned about our welfare and helped us...

We stayed at L'Abbaye several times in different rooms each time and found the hotel to be so intimate and charming. The breakfast downstairs is lovely, especially when the weather is fine. The hotel is located on a quiet street very near Luxembourg Gardens and within walking distance to many fine restaurants and wonderful shopping. The service is kind and...

Lovely, small, elegant hotel; relatively spacious beautiful room (Deluxe) overlooking courtyard (see site photo) Staff was extremely attentive, friendly--we wanted for nothing And were always greeted in the morning and on return like we were returning home.

This is another review that is a few months late, but I really did not want to fail to comment on such a great stay. The staff were outstanding. They helped with luggage, transportation, restaurant recommendations and reservations and just generally made both us and our less-seasoned traveling companions feel comfortable. The best was when they got on my phone...

Quite the best hotel in Paris. With its own sunny terrace and birds in the trees. The penthouse rooms are special. It was a while ago but I assume its the same now. Staff very helpful and breakfast outside perfect

I have returned to the Hotel de l'Abbaye many times, and always found it to be such a gem. The attention to the décor of the hotel is truly a delight to the eye. Not only are the rooms beautifully decorated, the lounge area with a wood burning fireplace is really lovely. The breakfast room is wonderful; its a delightful...

A gem of a place hiding in a beguiling courtyard just below the rue de Rennes. We stayed 4 nights for my wife's 60th birthday. We booked in a de luxe room but the first night we found the 'grand lit' was in fact 2 single beds put together; I fell into the black hole between sucked in by gravitational...

Staying in Saint-Germain-des-Pres

Neighbourhood Profile
Saint-Germain-des-Pres
In Saint-Germain-des-Prés, life is effortlessly chic and all things are beautiful. The main boulevard is dotted with famed terraced cafés, haut-couture shops, ivy-covered railings and fine-dining restaurants. Antique dealers and art galleries surround the fine art school and small museums hide in unassuming squares. The neighbourhood’s namesake church is the oldest in Paris and is the backdrop for talented musicians every weekend. The Luxembourg Gardens house the national senate, splendid lawns and flourishing flower beds. Famous faces and bourgeois Parisians frequent Saint Germain accompanied by the students of Rue Saint Guillaume and Rue des Saints-Pères. This is a neighbourhood where afternoon people-watching from a café or playing cards in a brasserie are a key part of the daily fabric.
