I chose Hotel Diderot based on the experiences of other travellers here on tripadvisor, and I must say the reviews were 100% correct. Great building, warm welcome, really friendly and cosy atmosphere, very clean, delicious jams! A must repeat!

Hotel Diderot was featured in Trip Advisor, so we sought this little cutie out. Madame et Monsieur who own and run the hotel were very accommodating and amiable. Monsieur told us about his own travelling experiences in Australia, much to our delight. Booby, the cat, reviewed visitors as to their worthiness on entree, and if so blessed, one was able...

We stayed here in November 2011 for 2 nights, after spending time in Paris and Northern France. Looking for a true charming French countryside experience, we came across Hotel Diderot. Our stay here was the highlight of our 10 day trip throughout France. Owning a travel company, we had the opportunity to stay in a few 5 star hotels in...

Be sure and stay in this charming town, Chinon, and Hotel Diderot when visiting the Loire Valley. Lovely family run hotel. We loved room #20 on the ground floor with our own patio area. This hotel is in a very quiet area but a short walk to the center of town. We parked in the free lot just 30 meters...

Drive through the gate and you are in a magical garden with a fantastic feel. Many plants, flowering vines, cafe tables and a handsome old cat to lounge at your feet. We stayed 2 nights and were treated like family. The stone house is very special, ancient looking wooden beams in the breakfast room, many nooks and crannys to explore....

This was like a 5 star hotel.. The room was large and cozy, charming in fact. Bed was fantastic and it was a very comfortable stay. The staff were fantastic and friendly. Parking was easy. Close to the centre of the village so easy to get something to eat. But by far the highlight was the breakfast, in particular the...

What a wonderful B&B to stay at in Chinon! Laurent and family were very attentive to our needs and were a wealth of information regarding local venues, restaurants, etc. The B&B starts the day out with a wonderful breakfast of a variety of local breads, fresh yogart, and the tasty homemade jellies(YUM!). After returning from a day of exploring, a...

We had a ground floor room in the courtyard. It was incredibly dark because the only light comes from the glass door to the room. We didn't mind because the garden was lovely and the darkness made it possibly to sleep off our jet lag. Extremely quiet and the staff was really helpful, every restaurant they recommended was excellent. Their...

What makes a hotel a 5 star? Hotel Diderot is rated 2-star, but in our opinion has 5-star service and staff. It's a family run hotel with a warm and friendly atmosphere. Our room (room 20) was large and comfortable and had direct access to the lovely patio and garden. It was well-situated in walking distance of many good restaurants...

A beautiful old building full of character. Comfortable rooms, very helpful and friendly staff, great breakfasts well worth 7 euros. Goos position to walk into Chinon and its restaurants. Have stayed before and will again.

Ideally situated in the heart of old Chinon, nestled in the quiet and historic neighborhood of the Saint Mexme collegiate church, Hotel Diderot welcomes you into a 15th century limestone mansion, restructured in the 17th and 19th centuries. Hotel Diderot is famous for its marvelous breakfasts, offering a dizzying selection of homemade jams, delicious French breads, brioche and croissants, locally produced fresh goat cheese, honey and fruit juice. Close to the fireplace in autumn, or on the shaded terrace as soon as the warm weather arrives, the first meal of the day must be as unforgettable as the night that preceded it. Gluten-free breakfast available on request. Here you will find peace and tranquility ; you will experience the warm hospitality of a " tourangelle " residence, in the land of Renaissance writer Francois Rabelais, amidst the splendid vineyards of the Val de Loire, the landscape dotted with magnificent castles and unique gardens. ... more   less
