A very pleasant, privately run hotel with very nice, individually furnished rooms. The location on the edge of the old town (5 minutes walk) makes it particularly attractive.
The reception was very friendly and helpful.
Good beds make it easy to relax, and a very well-equipped bathroom helps you get off to a good start in the day.
The hotel offers a very tasty breakfast buffet.
A garage is available on request and is inexpensive.

I stayed there twice in 12 days (on the way there and back from the Mediterranean) and would be happy to do so again.

The small hotel is located on the edge of the "Secteur sauvegardé", the historic city center. The Place de la Libération with the Palais des Duc and the Musée des Beaux Arts can be reached on foot in around ten minutes. The house is easily accessible by car and has a monitored car park in the inner courtyard, which is why guests who travel by car mainly stay here. It can only be reached by taxi from the train station, unless you want to walk 25 minutes or take a big detour by tram and bus.
This is a historic hotel that dates back to the end of the 18th century as the "Auberge de la Teste Noire". In 1988 it was extensively renovated and reopened as the Hotel Wilson.
The history of the house means that all the rooms are different, smaller or larger, often with exposed beams. The rooms are as different as they are individually furnished, some with old furniture or antiques. The common rooms, a small lounge and the breakfast room with fireplace are just as cozy.
We liked the extremely friendly staff - one of the receptionists also speaks German - and the individuality of the house. The rooms have everything you need, the beds are very good, the bathroom is spacious and the shower is pleasant. Because of the small - historic - windows, the rooms can be a bit dark.
As other guests have already mentioned, the rooms are a bit noisy. In our case, two nights were very pleasant with little noise from the other guests, but one night was almost unbearable because of the inconsiderate residents, who apparently moved the furniture around for hours, and then there was a long shower at three in the morning... If you want to reduce the risk of noisy guests, you should book a room on the second floor, facing the inner courtyard. The rooms facing the street are said to be noisy with the window open, ours facing the courtyard was very quiet in this respect.
The breakfast buffet is extensive and offers regional products, e.g. wonderful cheese. Drinks are served; they have to be pre-ordered when checking in, which seemed a bit complicated to us. Since the service was very nice and also fulfilled another drink request, we were fine with that.
You can park your car in the courtyard for a fee. This is very convenient for security, but not exactly a feast for the eyes. With a few tables and chairs - without cars, of course - the courtyard would be a nice place to spend some time.
There are four good restaurants in the immediate vicinity of the hotel: two with high-quality French cuisine, as well as an Indian and a Japanese restaurant, both of which are also excellent. Not far from there, about a five-minute walk and with plenty of parking, there is a large supermarket that is open until late in the evening, seven days a week.
We felt very comfortable at the Wilson and would visit the hotel again at any time.

The hotel is well located, Place Wilson, with a certain charm (old listed building), the breakfast is of good quality with local products but the photos do not show all the rooms.
Bedroom 1, located on the ground floor on the courtyard side, is in fact below the level of the sidewalk on the street side, with little light, but still passes through.
Above all, it is very small (not announced by the receptionist when booking) and with a bathroom from another era: the shower is 30 cm from the ground, impossible for someone with a disability. use (my request).
Be wary of the person who answers the phone, and ask for written confirmation when refusing this room until it has been renovated.

The first impact was certainly not the best. In fact, despite having sent the credit card details for pre-authorization, as usual, and having tried again in presence with TWO other cards, we had to pay for the stay in advance, otherwise we would have had to find another accommodation. But arrived in the late afternoon and tired we could not wait to take a shower and rest. And then who knows what and where we might have found. So eat this soup or.... Since it was very strange the next day I asked my bank for an explanation and discovered that the procedure adopted for the pre-authorization was incorrect. So they were wrong! Despite my request the bathroom did not have a shower, but a shower inside the bath. If I made a specific request there will be a good reason! In the room there was no air conditioning but a simple fan. Now if we go on the mobile we can see the photos that the structure has included including "superior room" (type of room proposed by the hotel, not requested by us) where you can clearly see that the room is equipped with air conditioning and for this reason we chose it! In our rooms there were no satellite channels, well advertised in all hotel advertisements. Breakfast was a ridiculous thing. The cold cuts and cheeses as well as being poorly presented were made to measure. So much so that customers have had to request products on multiple occasions. The rest does not deserve sufficiency in relation to the price paid of 15 euros per person. At 11 pm the reception closes. And so far nothing to object to. Too bad, however, that in doing so they also had to close all the other access doors to the breakfast room and the small lobby, inhibiting access to customers while denying the possibility of a little relaxation and conversation. Finally we delivered some clothes for the laundry that were partly returned dirty and unironed. To our complaints the person at the reception, displeased with our protest, reacted in a vexatious way by tearing our clothes from our hands to take them back to the laundry. The other people who took turns at the reception instead were always very kind. Recommendation: if you are going to choose this hotel put it on paper as if it were a contract!

The old post office exudes a cosy atmosphere. However, you can expect nothing more from the hotel than the 3-star comfort. Our room was clean and tidy but quite small but adequate for two people and a short stay. The bathroom had obviously been renovated not long ago and has an appropriately sized shower cubicle.
The reception upon our arrival was very friendly and well prepared, so the check-in went uncomplicated. Even a special room request was fulfilled without any problems. Thanks also to the young employee, who could explain everything to us in German excellently and could give us good hints for our city tour. But the rest of the team also did a good job. Worth mentioning is still the employee who is responsible for breakfast and really had everything excellent in view. Despite the good occupancy of the hotel, there was no shortage of well-set tables or the equipment of the buffet. We were completely satisfied.
The hotel is relatively central for a sightseeing stay and is also well soundproofed towards the busy front.

Excellent welcome in this old coaching inn 5 minutes walk from the historic center of Dijon.
The thickness of the walls is pleasant. The breakfast room has a fireplace with a lit fire.
Breakfast buffet of decent quality with good real cheeses. Pleasant rooms with good bedding.
Practical and secure private parking.
Excellent restaurant with a Michelin star within its walls. Practical for an excellent meal with good wines. The bed is almost within reach.
Perfect hotel for a stay in this beautiful historic city.
Very good value for money.

Pension Wilson is very well located in Dijon and offers private parking. The welcome is warm. The Pension setting is typical. Its location makes it easy to discover the city on foot, on a beautiful square with benches and water jets if you just want to enjoy the fresh air.

Nice hotel, close to the city center. The decoration is very nice and the rooms comfortable.
Breakfast buffet a little light but quality. If you arrive too much, some products may be missing. Access to the car park is not necessarily easy (no codes, someone has to open) and can be constraining hours. Very friendly welcome nonetheless. A bottle of water on arrival but it is not refilled if you stay several nights (or you have to pay for the refill!).

Hotel offering the charm of an old post office but also important differences in the layout, size or soundproofing of rooms, inherent in the original specificity of the building. The staff always welcome you with a smile and kindness. It takes only 5 to 10 minutes to reach the lively districts of Place de la Libération, Les Halles or other shopping streets. Hotel to recommend.

I was at the Wilson Hotel twice with groups and each time my clients and I were amazed by the charm of the house and the kindness of the staff.

The hotel's location is close enough to the city center to do all the sightseeing on foot.

A big thank you to the entire team for this pleasant stay!

Good morning, we have a public parking just in front of the hotel which is free. We also have a private parking for 10 euros per night. Is better to book it in advance because we only have 14 parking spaces. Best regards. Sandrine Descaillot - owner
