The hotel is pretty average. Ok Standard on the rooms, ok breakfast buffet and Service at the hotel varies from super sweet to lost in translation. The area around the hotel is however superb. French style cafés in open spaces, just at the entrance of the old city. It is a few minutes walk to the sea and the big...

Spent 2 nights here on a weekend break to St Malo. Having stayed at several hotels in St Malo over the years, some being 4 star, this hotel more than matches them in quality. The only thing that could be done to improve things is to maybe include tea / coffee facilities in the room or to have them available....

This hotel is in a great location inside the lively, old walled town and with lots of bars and restaurants around the hotel. Staff were friendly and helpful. Nice room. Very small lift. Wifi reception in room reasonable. No parking at hotel but public pay car park just a few minutes walk away.

We took a seat on the terrace to people watch and have breakfast. Our waiter was friendly and service was quick, the coffee was strong and the pastries were fresh and...

stayed here for a 5 night break in august booked through brittany ferries and were truly delighted. We arrived at 8.30 am feeling a bit tired so took a taxi to the hotel instead of the shuttle bus for 7 euros well worth it. it stated on our booking that we would not be able to check in until 3...

This was the second visit to this very nice hotel, the previous visit was Spring 2012. There are deals available with Brittany Ferries which mean if you use the L'Univers as a base or for a short break you can reap a substantial discount as opposed to booking the ferry and the hotel separately. The hotel has a lift and...

My friend and I stayed overnight in this aged but accommodating hotel. The receptionist was cheerful and helpful, and made our stay most enjoyable. Our room overlooked the wall and the bustle of the restaurants and market stalls below and added to the ambience of the stay in the centre of town. The room was clean and space was generous...

Stayed here before but 1st review. Excellent value, rooms small but clean and tidy. bathrooms ok. Bar and breakfast area great for people watching and not too expensive. If you want a quiet hotel with no buzz around it then go somewhere else but the buzz is why most visitors come here !
