Nestled within the walls of St Malo, this is a small, wonderful, family run hotel managed by a husband and wife team who have escaped the Paris rat race. The sleep quality was exceptional with a quiet sound proofed room, high quality linens and a very comfy bed. The room was a decent size with excellent facilities. The breakfast is characterised by fresh produce and tasty baked goods and the use of many local products.

Hotel's Favourite
Our stay at Hotel des Abers could not have been better. Our hosts were wonderfuly warm and helpful, and the experience was a delight, from the comfortable accommodations, to the fabulous breakfast (including the best granola I've ever had and a variety of fresh baked goods) to the assistance with a dinner reservation and helping with appointments for COVID testing before our return flight. The location was convenient to everything we wanted to do in St. Malo. I very highly recommend Patricia and Philippe at Hotel des Abers.

Very friendly staff, they have a cute puppy too! The rooms had a great atmosphere, very cosy. Beds were medium firm, with good water pressure in the shower. It was very quiet when we were there, but it's off season so can't speak to how it would be with lots of people around.

I can't say enough good things about this hotel. First and foremost the owners Patricia and Philippe are outstanding hosts. The homemade pastries are over the top, Philippe is a culinary genius. Patricia is so nice, always a big smile, incredibly helpful with recommendations. Our private tour was cancelled due to the gigantic storm that the region experienced a few weeks ago and she called and discussed in French with the tour company to help up rebook. Rooms and location were perfect, don't look anywhere else, just book!

My partner and I wanted to explore Saint Malo and the surrounding area for a week, after being in Paris, and this was the best place to stay. It is in the middle of all the historical buildings and streets, which really immerses you in the history. You are also a 2 minute walk from the ramparts which takes you straight to the outskirts of the town. Our room was just what we needed to explore during the day and rest in the evening. They were very attentive with cleaning and ensuring we had everything we needed. It was nice and quiet as well, even though we were close to the hustle and bustle. We weren't planning on having breakfast at the hotel when we stayed, but once we had it the first day we ended up eating there the whole week. We felt like we were eating at home with the delightful homemade pastries and selection of items for breakfast. The owner even gave us recommendations outside the city that ended up making our trip even better. Would definitely stay again if we ever return!

Saint-Malo looked to my wife and me as an interesting destination for sea and sea food, history, and a touch of Brittany. Hotel des Abers is located centrally in the old walled city, and was conveniently located for dining, walks along the ramparts and seaside, and bus and rail for side trips in this area of Brittany (for example, Mont Saint-Michel). The rooms were very clean, the plumbing solid, and the breakfast more than adequate. Philippe and Patricia, the proprietors, were courteous, cheerful and quite helpful. The sea food in Saint-Malo, esp oysters and mussels, were exceptional, and the walled city has a very interesting history. We traveled by rail to Saint-Malo, so I’m not sure how parking an automobile would work for hotel guests. We are in the 60-early 70 age bracket, and note that there is an elevator for those who might need it. We very much would recommend Hotel des Abers. Chuck and Karen, WI.

We stayed at Hôtel des Abers for three nights. We arrived by train and took a taxi to our accommodation (certainly recommend doing this as it is about a 25 minute walk to the station; we did do this walk (it is flat) when we did a day trip to Dinan – fine without luggage). The hotel is located within the old city in a quiet area and a very short walk to the tourist office. The host are lovely, always willing to help and provide advice. The hotel room was on the small side (for which we were prepared) but it was not an issue; the room was clean, the bed comfortable and it had a good shower. Breakfast was very good. The hotel is about a 15 minute flat walk to the Condor Ferry terminal, which we did with our luggage. Just be aware, when estimating walking time, there is a swing bridge that must be crossed to get to the terminal and it may be open to allow boats to pass through. If we visited Saint Malo again, would we use Hôtel des Abers? Most definitely!

Lovely hotel with warm and charming host couple. Great location. Ample breakfast. And a good value. Need to park at one of the outside lots. Try and arrive early on the day. If not be patient and wait to enter.

The bed was very comfortable. The staff were kind and courteous. They went out of their way to help us. We liked the location, very near the old town center. The restaurant Bistro Jean next door was handy and delicious for dinner.
