A 1 night stay on a road trip from The Dordogne to the UK. Had dog with me too. Small room with good bathroom, tv and fan ( needed in July!). Clean and comfortable and the hotel is a 5 minute walk to the river. Excellent host who was welcoming, helpful and willing to please. Had comfortable night’s sleep and lovely breakfast (E8) which was money well spent. Don’t be fooled by “only 2 stars”. This is a perfect example of inexpensive quality.

A truly fine hotel: excellent location, attentive (and light-hearted) staff whose enthusiasm show that they like what they do...and the best breakfast of my trip! Clean, recently remodeled and dog friendly...free parking all around the location.

This city centre hotel is charming, nicely decorated, clean and traditional. The staff are very friendly and helpful and speak good English. The rooms are quite spacious and comfortable and the bathroom is clean and tidy.

Ideal for city break to this beautiful city. Unimposing from the outside and a strange name for a typically French turn of the century hotel. The interior is very welcoming and the room was spotlessly clean and comfortable, although there was no air conditioning so I would imagine it would be very hot during the summer. The continental breakfast is superb and definitely 5 star. The negative points of my stay were:- Parking. The description states free hotel parking, but this is not the case. The only parking is in the street which was nose to tail packed. I drove round the block 3 times, which, as all the streets are one way - usually in the opposite direction to the one you want to go -getting lost and having to reset the sat nav to find my way back, before eventually having to stop across the gates to a school to unload the suitcases. Just glad it was a weekend otherwise it would be very difficult. 2. The stairs to the rooms are very steep, narrow and winding, which, for a 76 year old with a gammy knee and carrying two suitcases, made it a bit of a struggle. 3. The shower in my room was non adjustable and pointing sideways above my head, so to use it you had to unhook it and hold it in one hand which is not the most convenient way to have a shower. All in all, a very enjoyable stay and I can thoroughly recommend a visit to this beautiful city. …

The Hotel is so nice, so clean. The stuff is so friendly and helpful. The room was really nice and clean and for a 2 Star Hotel we even had a hairdryer! The breakfast was nice, there is no buffet so we got served 2 croissant, baguette, cheese, ham and saucisse and we received a hard egg, orange juice and coffee. The Hotel is really good situated next to the city center and 10 minutes from the lac.

We had one night stay here on our way to another destination. The hosts were very friendly. The hotel was recently renovated with charming decor and is extremely accessible to downtown Vichy. We stayed in the family room which is hard to find and was a perfect size for our family of five. The breakfast was great and well worth the cost.

This is a small family run hotel and you feel really welcome there. The breakfast was amazing, the room was quite spacious. The bathroom was not big, but very very clean. In the summer it might get hot in the room and it has no A/C, but in the end, for that price and location, it is perfect for a weekend. A parking house is quite close - on the streets, you could theoretically park for free, but there is no way you can find a parking place in the weekend. It is very close to the city center, you can visit Vichy from their on foot.

Spent two nights here recently while touring Vichy and found the California to be in the perfect location for a complete walking visit to the city. The couple who run the place were the perfect hosts and went out of their way to accommodate us. Huge room, very clean and very comfortable bed. These are definitely not your average hotel rooms! We will be back.

I really believed I'd booked for the Friday night. I rocked up there to find I'd booked the Saturday night: my wedding night. The receipt confirmed my mistake. As the manager saw the horror on my face he decided to let me sleep in his private room. What a hero.... Therefore I can only give high recommendations for this place.
