My daughter and I stayed here overnight as part of our inn-to-inn hiking trip. Our luggage was left in Lauderbrunnen for direct transfer to Murren. We just brought our day packs with some overnight essentials. The hike is flat through the valley, then up, up, up from Stechelberg. It was a grind even for a gal who hikes at home....

This place is on the best spot. Well there is only way to get there and that is by foot. The view is unbelievable. The hospitality is very good. Hanzel and Vicky thanks that i could accompany you to your dairy early morning when you went milking your cows. (South Africa)

This delightful old museum hotel is a must should you be trekking in this part of the world. It is more like a big mountain hut than a hotel. It is kept very much respecting the original features. There is no electricity and no running water in the bedrooms. We returned to it this summer and once more enjoyed their...

We hiked up from Stechelberg, a short distance of a few miles but lots of elevation gain (over 2500 feet). Took us twice the posted estimates, but we were pretty out of shape. Our friends, who were on their second stay, fared better. The views are indescribable. I took some nice looking pictures, but they can't compare. This place is...

No ensuite, no electricity, no wifi....best of all no light pollution and an incredible night sky! I loved the night we spent here. Call it glamping, but it was comfortable & cozy & clean. We slept with the windows wide open and could hear the waterfall all night. After breakfast we were treated to a tour of the cheese-making and...

No electricity, no hot showers, communal bathrooms and simple breakfast. However, this is easily one of my very favorite hut accommodations in terms of location, comfort and style. The views were breathtaking. We had a private bedroom, and the room and bathroom were absolutely spotless. The extra heavy down comforter kept us nice and toasty at night, and we throughly...

My family spent a rainy, foggy evening at Obersteinberg after a wet hike up from Stechelberg in the valley. I can't blame the weather on the hotel but when you eliminate the views and therefore the ability to appreciate the unique and, I am told, beautiful location, there isn't too much left to recommend the place. On the positive side,...

We hiked from Murren to Obersteinberg (Alert: this is a hard hike (mostly uphill) - if you are not up to it, do the hike from Stechelberg). It is a very peaceful place with wonderful views. If you want to get away from it all, this is the place. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. We paid for a...

The steep hike up the mountain was worth every step to stay in this wonderful place! - it is amazing what Doris and the staff could provide here in this remote mountains setting. Loved the clean fresh sheets and cozy comforters.

No cell phones, no electricity, no hassles. Worth the hike for one of the most beautiful places in the world. Highly recommend. Full course meal for dinner. Friendly staff and beautiful views. Not heated but the beds are super warm with feather comforters. So glad we went.
