Once again had a fantastic time at this hotel When we booked in we were given an anniversary card and 2 bottles of presecco from Damien, Lisa, Rebecca, Steve and all the staff. This was our 5th visit to this hotel and will definitely be back soon 😆

We stayed here for a weekend and we're first of all put into a suite room with a sofa. First impressions were that is was rather dated (there was still a trouser press) but it would be fine. After about an hour we started to become aware of noises in the roof above us - scratching noises. We later realised...

Thank you for taking the time to review, we are sorry to hear your stay with us was disappointing too yourselves. Having investigated your claim regarding rodents, we have discovered a tile missing from the roof above your room and believe birds have gained access to the roof space. This is now being dealt with and we apologise for the...

Stayed here for a weekend break. A beautiful hotel, although it does need some work. The current management/staff are clearly trying to turn the place around since my last visit and are doing a great job. Room was lovely and clean, great for the cost. The breakfast was nice and the staff attentive and friendly. Lancaster is a great city...

My sister and I stayed for one night a couple of nights ago. Yes the decor is dated but the character of the building and rooms is simply quaint and endearing. Everything needed in the room was there. The water was hot for the shower. The beds were so comfy. We had a street view room and had double glazing...

Stayed for 2 nights Feb 2017 with a group of family in different rooms - this hotel has some negative and positive factors and has the potential to be very good. Unfortunately, the standard of the room we stayed in was very poor. The decor is very tired and dated with wallpaper peeling and stains on the carpet. The bathroom...

I was told by my daughter that this hotel was good. I can only guess she wasn't on the 4th floor. The hotel itself is perfectly located in central Lancaster. The dining / breakfast room on level one is perfect but lulls you into a false sense of security... The staff too were pleasant and breakfast was of a good...

I stayed here for 2 nights very recently, will defiantly be returning. Check in was fast and the staff behind the reception were very friendly and nothing was too much for them. Our room was 306 and it was clean and comfortable although could do with some TLC but upon talking to the new manager he stated that the rooms...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
We always offer the best prices to our guests direct through hotel reception so be sure to call us first. Fantastic all round venue in a central location, ideal for weddings and functions, everything under one roof. In the heart of the historic city of Lancaster, with views of its famous castle, stands the Royal Kings Arms Hotel. Originally built in 1625 and later rebuilt in 1879, the hotel was immortalized by Charles Dickens in his tale of "The Lazy Tour of Two Idle Apprentices". This Grade II listed hotel has 55 comfortable en-suite bedrooms, including the luxury Castle Suite, with its four poster bed and views of the castle, the entrance to which is just 50 yards away. With origins dating back almost 1,000 years Lancaster Castle, a Grade 1 listed building, occupies a city-centre hilltop location on the site of three successive Roman forts and has been described by English Heritage as "not only the North-West's most important historic and archaeological monument but also of international importance". Other historic buildings in Lancaster include the Judge's Lodgings and the Doll Museum. The sea plays a big part in Lancaster's history and the Maritime Museum is a fascinating place to visit. Beyond the city, the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales are within easy reach, while the seaside resorts of Morecambe and Blackpool are a short drive away. Breakfast is available when checking in at reception, we do have car parking facilities at £5 per car per stay at the rear of the hotel. ... more   less
