Our stay started with a distinctly lukewarm welcome, although once we got to our 'superior' double room we were happy. Plenty of space and a large, comfortable bed. The bathroom was sizeable but although it had an all-singing-and-dancing shower there was no bath. Evening meal - hand made burger - was disappointingly tasteless. Breakfast was lovely, made to order from...

Came in for lunch, expensive (especially £6.50 for kids cheese sandwich). Took a while to come (no biggy) but said sandwich came with no butter (apparently had to request?). Yet our neighbours had butter (and hadn't had to request). Service wasn't good - no-one came to see how our meal was and when my partner went to query the lack...

It's always good to find an alternative to the chains that dominate our travel and eating/drinking. The Sun Hotel in Lancaster provides that great alternative. An old well established inn, with great choice of beers to accompany home cooked food. The full english breakfast is just the best way to start the day working in or visiting historic Lancaster.

Four of us had lunch here and we were not disappointed. Three shared a deli platter which, apart from the slightly dry pate, was fresh and delicious.....especially the whitebait. Our vegitarian individual had the soup and fries which she also said was great.

Always a nice welcome here and drinks are really good with wide selection of local ales and lagers.Foos is usually top notch but let down today as partner received dull tasting fish as "goujons" with salady serving of rocket that was yellow in parts. This looked like leftover stuff from weekend(it was Monday Boxing Day)and serving very thick bread after...

I stayed here in mid December with work. The hotel is right in the centre of the city and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was in the 'roof' and, although a little bit pokey, it had all the modcons you need including fresh coffee! The bathroom was small but the bed was very big and comfortable....

We stayed here for one night while in Lancaster for my daughter's graduation, and had booked a suite. In addition to a lovely large bed, there was a little sofa, plus dvd player and freestanding bath in the room, very original and a touch of decadence! The bathroom was a good size and the shower was very pleasant. The cooked breakfast...
