One of Derby's renowned pubs for great real ale and it doesn't disappoint. Good selection on at the minute and great pit stop after a dreary Derby County game! It's very oldie Worldy and has some nice historical train features if that's your thing. Good value for money too.

If you leave the station and bear right after a half a mile you will find the Alex opposite a set of traffic lights. There was upwards of a dozen different real ales on providing a mixture of flavours and colours. All those we tried were in excellent nick. The room was basic. But it was all there and it...

Love the Alex or the Annex as it was called years ago. I have been going for over 25 years and I still love it.Basic old world, fab real ale, bashing memorabilia and conversation. One for rail and beer lovers, don't miss it if you like trains, beer or Derby. Long may it stay the same. Miss Des Trout and...

A pleasant afternoons drinking was had sampling some of the numerous ales available while sharing the Pubs lounge with the resident rabbit - Amber... No music or other disruption, so just pleasant convivial conversation - although Amber didn't say [or drink] much...!

Situated a short walk from Derby Railway Station this is a real ale icon. Recently named Derby CAMRA pub of the year, the pub offers 8 ales on hand pump plus 2 ciders. The pub has a very noticeable railway theme and even has a loco cab in the beer garden. It has 4 letting rooms at a very reasonable...

A great range of flavoursome beers. Its a shame we didn't live close by otherwise we would be able to visit more often. The most pleasant staff and railway memorabilia to savour. A loco cab in the garden was a real gem. Keep it up.

Great range of real ales on offer all kept to a superb quality. A must for Railway enthusiasts due to all the memorabilia held here. Ralph and Anna are superb hosts and their knowledge of ale is fantastic. Nothing fancy a basic city pub but close to the railway station for a quick pint after a journey. No hot food...

I absolutely love this place. The beer selection is fantastic- bottles and what is on tap. The staff are incredibly helpful and friendly- one member of staff actually found me ice cream to go with my beer on a hot night, and I will never forget her for this. If I ever win the lottery, I will find her and...

Derby has a wealth of real ale pubs, but this is one the best and you are guaranteed an excellent pint here, whatever you choose. There is also a selection of continental beers, so pretty much all beer drinkers are catered for!

The birthplace of CAMRA in Derby, this friendly house makes an excellent and relatively inexpensive base for a pub crawl of the town. Right around the corner from another of the icons of the local cask ale scene (The Brunswick brewpub), the only thing you'll need to have for a pleasant stay is a modicum of moderation. (The ale here...
