Just a gem, lovely room with exceptional views and extremely comfortable. The breakfast is 10/10 and Sophie, Steve and all of the staff are just so lovely and welcoming! Picture postcard village and we can’t wait to go back! Highly recommend!
Only a short drive from Harrogate, this little gem of a B&B was ideal for us. We stayed in the double room, at the top of the shop, in the roof. It has been well convrerted into a pleasant airy room with windows to the East and West. Despite being there in mid November, the views to the West through the amazing windows were over a large swathe of Nidderdale. We weren't in our room at sunset (because it was November and the sun set at about 4.30 pm) but my guess is that during the summer months the views would be awesome. The service we received was friendly, polite and welcoming. The staff were only too happy to help. Breakfast is served in the café downstairs and is enhanced by non B&B customers coming in for their breakfast food and drink. It's really pleasant to see the variety of people coming and going at around 9 to 10 in the morning. The breakfasts were cooked while we waited and were well worth the wait. They were hot, well cooked and well presented, by Steve. Although Sophie wasn't in the café when we were at breakfast she came and spoke to us when she arrived. She was most attentive and assured us that if there was anything we needed, we only had to ask. There was nothing, everything we needed was there. She was also really helpful in providing information about local cycling routes for me to pass on to my cycling friends. Because we are tea drinkers, there were more teabags left for us on our return for our second nights stay than for the first night. We were also able to view The Shepherds Hut, which is at the bottom of the garden. It looks like a wonderful spot to be to watch the sun sett over the far hills. We would seriously recommend Sophie's B&B.…
We had visited Sophie’s brilliant cafe in Hampsthwaite in the past so we knew about her wonderful food, warm welcome and lovely garden - the site for her shepherd’s hut. But a sunny June weekend proved the perfect opportunity for a trip to stay at Sophie’s. The welcome from all her team was friendly yet relaxed. They helped reduce any latent stress issues and ensured you were able to savour your trip to North Yorkshire. We stayed in the well-equipped shepherd’s hut with wonderful views over the Dales. It was exquisite. Some shepherd’s huts are very basic. This was in the de luxe range yet gave you the feeling of privacy and being away from it all at the end of Sophie’s back garden. If you’ve never experienced a night, or more, in a shepherd’s hut, go for it. You won’t be disappointed. Next door you have your own private modern bathroom and when you surface from your little piece of Yorkshire heaven you can savour splendid breakfasts in Sophie’s cafe. The quality of food, and menu, can’t be praised highly enough. We’ll be heading back at the first opportunity.…
This very comfortable Café with rooms is delightful. We made a last minute decision to stay over and booked over the phone. We had the twin room as the Double and Shepherd’s Hut were taken. It was a very comfortable room spotlessly clean and having a nice view. Breakfast (included) is taken in the Café and was very good indeed.
Set in a very quiet area with lovely views and gardens. Parking was available out the front, but signs to get in a bit confusing and left standing without welcome in shop. Room was clean enough, but could have been better. Ensuite was good size and lovely and warm. Internet was very hit and miss, certainly needs improvement, given this day and age. Breakfast was good.
We had a lovely one night stay at Sophie’s in August, everyone was very friendly. We were offered as an alternative to the room we had booked a shepherds hut which would have been lovely, but decided as it was raining I would prefer not to have to walk down the garden. But that was a lovely gesture and would have been a beautiful place to stay if weather was good. Our bedroom was lovely and bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was cooked perfectly Would highly recommend staying here
We've just spent 4 glorious nights at Sophie's and want to thank Sophie and the team for making our stay so special. The breakfasts are wonderful, the lunches and packed lunches delicious and the cakes are amazing! as other guests have commented there is no breakfast served on Tuesdays but Sophie does offer an alternative or packed lunch and you will not go hungry - the portions are generous! All the staff work very hard and nothing is too much problem. We're already planning to return and recommend it to anyone looking for somewhere to stay near Harrogate centre with easy access to great cycling and walking.
Came back here after my partner had visited with his family and was not disappointed. We stayed in the hut outside where the views were beautiful! It was lovely and toasty with the heater on at night time and we got in bed with a movie at night (there’s a DVD player and some good movies). Great location too (we are heading off to Malham) The breakfast in the morning was lovely as where our hosts and we are looking forward to coming back in summer.
I spent 4 nights with my 82 year old mother at this lovely B&B. Sophie was really friendly and accommodating. We were on the first floor in the twin room which had a bath as well as a shower (which pleased my mother as you don’t often find a B&B with a bath!). It is an old property so there was a little noise from the room above due to squeaky floorboards which could not be helped. The breakfasts were lovely which were taken in the coffee shop. There is no service on Tuesdays however Sophie made sure we had cereal and toast to hand albeit a DIY effort but we did not mind this at all. There was an offer of a packed lunch if we did not want to make our own breakfast. The other food on offer in the coffee shop looked lovely with a lot of fresh food made on the premises. All in all it was a lovely experience and we wish Sophie all the best in the future of her business.…
Can't comment on the b&b because we just called for coffee whilst walking from Ripley. Despite being quite busy, coffee came really quickly and was red hot as requested. Fruit cake with Wensleydale was also good. All the food we saw looked yummy and generous portions. Great cake selection. All set in a beautiful village. Sophie and staff very friendly. Can't wait to try one of their pizza evenings!
