Enjoyable night out with friends, spoilt a little at the end of the night when the hotel receptionist slammed the side door behind us after we left, maybe leave the front door open until the bar is empty! Dave
Very comfortable and central location. Room was lovely and sash windows worked which was great. Lovely bathroom with nice quality toiletries for your convenience. Breakfast was fantastic a large choice of hot food cereal and pastries, hot and cold drinks.
We have stayed in several Harrogate Hotels, but this was my first time in The Crown, primarily as I found a good deal. I am pleased to say I was very happy with it and would definitely stay here again. It is in an ideal location , minutes walking to the Gardens, Stray, Shops, restaurants, the Convention centre. There isn't a great deal of onsite parking, but we were made aware of this and other parking options nearby before our arrival. We were lucky and were able to park right outside on the property. Check in was very smooth, efficient and friendly. It is an older property, but has a lovely feel to it, the entrance is spacious, with seating and an adjacent bar, multiple meeting rooms are available. Our room was a standard twin, luckily we had a front facing room which was nice, lovely view . The room was very clean, spacious and had everything we needed for a short stay. The bathroom is a little old, but spacious and perfectly serviceable, The bedding was good quality and we both had a great nights sleep. We had an issue with the TV ( the sound didn't work ) we had excellent and prompt service by David from the Maintenance team, who rebooted the TV and restored the sound. The service from the staff members we met was uniformly excellent. I would certainly come back here over other competitor hotels in Harrogate. Why isn't my review 5* - simply because it isn't a 5* Hotel, it is an older hotel and there is evidence of some wear in the rooms, but that is to be expected. Service, comfort and location were excellent, it will be my first choice if the price is right for my future visits.…
stayed jan 4 checked in room 162 lovely surprise had been upgraded to a suite which was cold heating was on automatic kicked in 3 in the afternoon radiators barely warm tstat up full reported this said maintainance would investigate no feedback hot water barely tepid so no shower sat in bar area in the evening near 2 radiators both cold lady behind bar said would report to maintainance the heating problems left us dissapointed with our stay by the way room corridors were nice and warm
Booked with e bookers and paid £57.13 for upgraded executive double room with a discount of about £80 due to bonus + discount from previous booking so getting a good deal. Our room, number 129 was a big en-suite bedroom with big bathroom, newly decorated but a bit dated and we found that with only one radiator in the bedroom we had to call reception to get a small fan heater to get the the room up to a nice heat as it was very cold outside. Bed was comfy and wifi quick with reception staff very helpful in this once grand Victorian town centre hotel with little parking we managed to park a few minutes away near the Wetherspoons pub at about the same price as the hotel was charging.
The Crown Hotel is central to Harrogate. There is parking at the front of the hotel, but the spaces are awkward to park in, especially when people don't park properly. Parking is limited for such a large hotel and costs £12 a day. We stayed in room 151. First floor, which you can access by lift or stairs. This room is not suitable for people with disabilities as there are more stairs to climb to access this room, not something the receptionist points out. Something that should be noted, this is a huge hotel and very old, so floors creak as you walk on them, especially in our room. The room has high ceilings and huge Georgian windows. I found the room depressing, no character or view. I couldn't have spent much time in here. We booked a twin room. The beds were comfortable, linen crisp, white, and clean. Plenty of towels, toilet paper, and shower gel. Bath with shower, plenty of hot water and shower worked well. Table, chair, mirror, and a tea tray provided with uht milk. No biscuits! Some information about the history of the hotel. The room was warm, quiet, and good value for £54. …
On arrival the front car park was full but the lovely lady on reception suggested we try the car park at the rear of the hotel and we were lucky as there was just one space left. Our room was OK but the bathroom was very small. Even though we had a front room the noise from the street didn’t bother us at all even though we had the window open a little. Found the mattress to be fine but the pillows were very poor. Our evening meal was included to the price of £25 there was no price on the restaurant menu. This would have been helpful to how many courses we had. Overall a decent stay.
Great location and looks good from outside. Price is good but I would prefer to pay a bit more to get better. Room was warm enough but mattress was too firm Floorboards very noisy in our room, other rooms and corridors. Old windows don’t stop the noise from the traffic outside or nearby Wetherspoons Bar very expensive Parking expensive ( but may be in line ) Buffet breakfast was mediocre Would give it another chance if I was returning, but would make the appropriate requests.
Hi me and my wife stayed here in the suite room 136 , it’s a large room with a bedroom bathroom and separate living room, it is nice to be honest, but we found ourselves unable to enjoy the suite room due to it been so cold , we had to be under the duvet in the bedroom due to it being so cold , the radiators are Luke warm at the top , and freezing all the way down , I have informed the hotel and had no reply , so hotel / manager , there is no point replying on here you have my number / email etc , you need to make contact with me , thanks
Booked for a Sunday night in December...v low price. Easy to find and as we called ahead a space had been reserved for us in their carpark. Friendly, helpful staff. What amazing architecture and decor inside and out. Had been decorated for Christmas too, so was extra special. Rooms are large with high ceilings. Age means that floorboards are a little creaky and windows not completely sealed, but the area was quiet and heating good. Breakfast was lovely...a little busy but I guess as it's often used by coach parties there will be a rush at certain times. Central but not in the party zone of Harrogate...easy to walk there though even with our limited mobility. More for the older generation, suited us perfectly and we will come back again.
