If you need a lunch stop whilst travelling north this Inn would he hard to beat! Lovely fresh bacon & Brie sandwiches and a cafetière of coffee in delightful surroundings. Give it a try next time you’re in the area.

Stayed here last night for a wedding reception. We were allocated room 3 which is in the main building up a little staircase. We were checked in quickly by a very friendly young man. The room itself had a double and a single in it so a large space with an internal bathroom that had a big shower cubicle. Clean and tidy room although the sundries tray looked a bit like it needed an update. It all looked a bit like it had been there a few years untouched!
The party was held across the way in a big tent and we had a super time. The bar man was the lad who checked us in, still smiling!
We had a good nights sleep although a couple of times woken by a huge door bang, not sure which one but it really rattled our room!
The shower was hot and clean with nice soft towels.
Breakfast was waitressed by, yes you’ve guessed, our smiling receptionist/bar man! Still smiling and wearing a superb pink headband! I asked for poached eggs on toast and husband, a full English. Mine was fine, 2 eggs, 1 bacon and 2 slices of toast. Husbands a bit on the tight side with only 1 bacon, 1 sausage and 1 egg. Although all was hot and of good quality. The room itself is very nice and really fits the building.
We checked out with said above lad who was very knowledgeable when interrogated about the history of the building.
A lovely stay, thank you ☺️

To be fair it is a very old building and so I can understand there might be problems, however, when the shower did not work at all, despite following the instructions set out, we told the manager and he went upstairs and said their must be a ghost as it’s working now! Didn’t offer an apology or any money off the bill due to the fact we hadn’t been able to have a shower! Absolute shambles! No class! Avoid at all costs!

For an overnight or short stay, excellent. We had a Courtyard room which initially was a bit cold but a Dimplex heater is provided. The main building offers a pleasant lounge/bar and spacious restaurant. The food was varied, good and reasonable pricing. I would have no hesitation in booking again.

Stayed here for its location. At first we were given a small room at the back of the hotel but for the remaining 3 nights of our hotel we were given room 1 which is the bridal suite. Only rooms 1 to 5 are in the main building. Nice clean and quaint hotel with a country house feel. However my stay was let down by the breakfast, day 1 was fine, 2 eggs, 2 sausages, 2 bacon, lots of beans and 2 toast, lovely. Day 2 had less beans. Day 3 had less beans and 1 toast. Day 4 was 1 bacon, 1 egg, teaspoonful of beans, 1 toast. Absolutely feeble. Spoilt a good stay.
