This ain't your typical accommodation, so if you're after something slightly different then stay here. This house oozes history and charm. It may not have the spa facilities of the big hotel chains but when you see the fantastically generous bathrooms then you'd be forgiven you began to imagine that you were in one. We stayed two nights and loved...

We stayed for one night whilst visiting friends and booked last minute based solely on the look of the place on google and trip adviser :-) Well, the place ended up being a gem, a pure, rare gem. The initial thoughts were a little mixed as the street view is not what you see on google searches! But once inside,...

First, if you're driving on the street you will miss it. The picture they have is taken from the courtyard which is behind the front entrance. They do have a parking station for the cars but again if you blink you will miss it.1970's decor. We stayed here during our time at Kilkenny, we received an upgraded room for our...

My husband and I stayed here last week and were so happy we decided to pick the Butler House. The location is amazing and the room was perfect for us! The front desk staff was friendly and very knowledgeable. She was able to recommend some great places to grab and bite and suggested activities for us. The room was clean...

We can't say enough good things about the Butler house. We stayed for one night in October; our room was large and had a fantastic view of Kilkenny castle. The staff was exceptional. We had to leave early on our departure day in order to get the Dublin airport; it was before breakfast was normally served. Mairead made arrangements to...

We came here as a stop on our honeymoon around Ireland. First off, the Butler House is just gorgeous, they have beautiful gardens to look out on and from our room we have a great view of Kilkenny Castle. The staff is AMAZING. Our first experience was with Mairead and she went over a map of Kilkenny with us and...

I wanted to like Butler House but there were a few things that nagged at me. We had booked a superior queen room and ended up with a large room on the top floor with a view of the castle and gardens. We found that the room got warm during the day and we had to open the windows -...

I really loved this place...we had a junior suite with a view of the castle and the beautiful gardens. The room was bright, modern, large and well appointed and the breakfast was great. My only concern is that the common areas were tired and could use with a coat a paint and new carpet...but at the end of the day,...

I wanted to like this hotel. Great location, beautiful garden, friendly staff, free parking. Sadly, the beds and pillows were terrible. Four of us stayed in two rooms with the same complaints. I would have rated it at least four stars had it not been for the bad beds.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Butler House. Great location, terrific staff/services and very friendly. I have a bit of a back problem and found the mattress too firm for me......small complaint! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. If you are looking for a very historic house converted to a hotel in the best location in Kilkenny and great staff,...
