We made a booking at the beginning of December for two rooms. All confirmed. On arriving from Australia in March to find the place was obviously closed up. We arrived at check in time, rang the door bell and waited an hour and still no sign of anyone. We found a public phone and called, but the phone rang out....

Despite being advertised as a hotel, this is a hostel. There is no other way around it. We were booked in for a stag for the weekend and had no bother finding the place. The issues started as soon as we arrived, they had no key cards for particular rooms and had to let people in and out with a...

The metropole is a basic hotel come dorn type hostel for travellers. It is clean and the staff are friendly, the food is good. The private room I had was adequate, clean and had a good shower but small. Not the Ritz but comfortable. The bar is ok and had entertainment, a one man band usually. Very central and convenient...

Stayed here one night. Check in was easy. Room was clean, though the flushing toilet shook the pipes to the point that you wonder how the hotel still stands. Room faced the street, on the side of the hotel, so wasnt the quietest hotel ever, but fit the bill. We only spent 60 Euros for the night, so reading the...

I'd been to Kilkenny before and attempted to book the same B&B where I'd stayed last time. No such luck. So I found the Metropole. When I got to Kilkenny, I couldn't find it, despite my GPS. So I drove around, got lost--that wasn't Metropole's fault--then found I was next to it, according to the electronics. Puzzled, I looked more...

Staff is friendly but the triple room we are in is pretty bare bones....more hostel than hotel, which sucks for 175 euro a night. If we were paying half as much, it would be fine, but a nice hotel in Dublin cost nearly as much. It is centrally located so that's nice. Other rooms may be better equipped, but don't...

Do not visit this hotel. I have never set foot in such a dump in all my life. We needed to get something to eat and ended up in the Metropole bar/"restaurant". Before taking a seat we asked the barman if they were still serving food (they still had a lunch menu displayed outside the door at 6.15pm), we were...
