It was a pleasant stay at Eviston Hotel. Being out of season, the hotel was really quiet which worked great for us. We were not disturbed by music from the famous Danny Mann pub as there was no music from what we saw. This could have been down to it being low season. We

Stayed in this hotel for the second time in a month. It is close to shops in the town and staff in bar and hotel are always helpful. For the price of 95euro was good value. However the hotel attention to detail has been let down. Room 240 has a lamp with no bulb in it. Orange

Dear Guest, Thank you for your 4 star review. We really appreciate your feedback which is mostly positive. We are sorry for the two issues that impacted your stay and have addressed the issue in your room which we would have been very happy to do during your stay. We use homestead juices at breakfast which is a popular Irish company, we try to buy Irish wherever possible. We do hope that you continue to choose the Eviston for all of your accommodation needs in Killarney and we very much appreciate your recommendation. Best Regards, Jason Doyle Operations Manager

Dear Prospective Guests, As you can see I have chosen to write to the possible readers of the above review rather than the authors having previously exhausted every avenue to have a reasonable conversation with them. Quite frankly the majority of what's written in the above review is complete falsehoods. There are certainly two pieces of information that are totally correct. 1. The party was asked to stop swearing. 2. The lady in question was told that there was already sugar in her Hot Whiskey twice. In response to fact 1, there is a huge difference between singing along with a song and roaring expletives at the top of your voice. Unfortunately the latter was the case and our Assistant Manager did ask the party to "please stop swearing". That is the extent of the conversation which lasted all of 1.5 seconds. In response to fact 2, a very common mistake that happens with oversea's tourists is that they add sugar to a Hot Whiskey without knowing that it is already there. I do however think that it says more about the lady in question that she chose to ask another member of staff again rather than explain to the first that she just wanted more. This hotel does not have a General Manager, I being the senior manager in the hotel did speak to this lady at approximately 11.30pm at night after the music finished as she was loudly complaining to the other people in the party as to how she was treated. Naturally upon hearing a dissatisfied guest I introduced myself and spent a few minutes talking to the whole party. Again this highlights the further inaccuracies of the review as the reviewer says that they left the premises. Following on from the 1.5 second conversation with our Assistant Manager the entire party stayed until at least 11.45pm in our bar, possibly longer as this is the time that I went home. They laughed, they sang, they danced, they enjoyed more drinks and one lady from the party even joined the singer on the stage to sing two songs. i think its fair to say that this is not the behavior of a group of people who have been upset and insulted. Also why would I introduce myself had I had no interest in their complaint. I told the people that I was very sorry that they were upset, I was very thankful for their patronage, I accepted that it was part of the song and that the musician was responsible for enticing them to sing along. I chose not to argue with the people again as to the volume they "sang" it at as we want our guests to enjoy themselves, the matter was dealt with previously and the guests did nothing untoward or out of order for the rest of their time in the hotel. I did point out that we had given them, the best of food, drink and service for the previous number of hours and that I thought it would be quite unfair to focus on a 1.5 second conversation over 8 hours of impeccable service. I left the group on good terms and was under the impression that the matter had been dealt with. Unfortunately i was very wrong and the next morning my colleague the Hotel Manager arrived to the front desk to find all eight members of the party shouting and using very abusive language towards our receptionist. having not been aware of the happening the previous night he listened to their complaint and told them that he would phone them back upon further investigation. The main lady took his card and said that she would e-mail him the whole story again? We are a family owned and operated three star hotel. We are very lucky to be in such a busy location and are very thankful to anyone who choses to spend their hard earned money in this hotel. We are indeed very thankful to these people for choosing our hotel. We are quite willing to accept responsibility for our mistakes and to take necessary steps to make up for our shortcomings or failings if they happen. We will not however be held ransom with the threat of TripAdvisor or any other review site where we have done nothing wrong and we will not engage with a person or persons who are looking for a free ride. If you are looking for an affordable hotel in an ideal location with quality food and beverage offerings served to you by friendly and attentive staff choose our hotel. if you don't believe me read the vast majority of the reviews on this site who say the same thing. If you need something during your stay or if there is anything not to your satisfaction let us know and we will resolve the issue while you are still in our hotel. We are here to provide the best possible experience for our guests and that is what our 60+ members of staff work very hard to achieve every day. Best Regards, Jason Doyle Operations Manager

A bit over priced for what we got A little run down and lacking the personal touch. We arrived to be told no parking was available but the American man who checked us in tried to sweeten us by saying we got a free upgrade!! Ok we were happy for 5 minutes but then saw our room!

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. I hope that you may appreciate that your own opinions are not shared by the vast majority of our guests who do like our facilities and are very appreciative when they receive a free upgrade. We are a three star town center hotel, we don't advertise that our rooms have views so perhaps it is slightly unfair to expect them. We do sincerely hope that you choose to stay in our hotel again and we can arrange for your stay to be in one of our larger rooms now that we know your preference. Our prices do fluctuate greatly and there are some fantastic deals available throughout the year. Best Regards, Jason Doyle Operations Manager
