The Kingston hotel is surely unique in that the ONLY food available is Italian! If you don't want masses of carbs, then you're a bit stuck because the menu is predominantly pizza and pasta. If you're a vegetarian then it is also very limited. That said, the food is very tasty and the restaurant has a good atmosphere. The room... More

We were a little surprised that this hotel had no air-con anywhere and our room was very noisy outside with the window open but we had no other no other choice as it was quite warm. We were kept awake until 3am by crowd noise then woken up at 6.30am by a very loud radio playing in the hotel. The... More

Spent two wonderful nights here while waiting for our cruise ship to arrive. Our room, clean and comfortable, overlooked the harbour, brilliant. The service is first class as well as the restaurant and the outside patio, where you could sit and relax with a drink and food service. We were a short stroll to just about everything you needed to... More

Stayed here with my wife while visiting Dun Laoghaire & was very impressed with the quality of the accomodation. Staff were helpful & friendly. Would recommend highly. We really liked the old Victorian style & this made the trip more fun overall.

I stayed in this wonderful converted Victorian seaside house(in fact 2 houses adjoined) for a night. Late check in was no problem even arriving at 1am. The room was small but adequate and modern and the bed was comfortable. The great surprise was next morning on opening the curtains was the staggering up close and personal view of the harbour... At first glance the Kingston Hotel looks inviting and a perfect place to stay facing the bay. But upon opening the door to our hotel room, I was extremely disappointed. The carpet, drapes, bedspreads are old and somewhat tattered. The room smelled stale, the mattresses were hard and lumpy. I would have left if my husband had not insisted we... More

Everything fine. Clean, central, well priced, nice restaurant, friendly staff. Only criticism is the summer weather, so cold for July but that can't be controlled by the hotel. Would i stay again ? Yes.

I gave 3 stars as the rooms were bit small. Railway line near by. Couldn't open a window. Restaurant extremely over priced with a small portion. Go to Forty Foot bar better known as Witherspoon's. Great food and plenty of cheap drink. Carlsberg £2.75 pint. Mixed grill and a pint on Tuesday special at £11.50. Kingston's still a nice place... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Haddington is a new brand name for the old Kingston Hotel and works are underway to improve our spaces and move it towards a luxurious hotel. This won't be a fast transformation but enhancements are already evident in the newer rooms and some of the public spaces and we'll continually look to improve our offering. Our hotel has fifty bedrooms and all rooms come with en suite facilities, digital TV, free WIFI, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities. Our newer 'classic' and 'deluxe' rooms also come with an in-room safe, a mini fridge stocked with fresh milk, filtered still & sparkling waters as well as a complimentary Irish Times. Most of the rooms in these categories also have spectacular sea views. Our main bar and restaurant is called Oliveto (which is very popular so booking in advance is well advised) and we also have a separate Library Bar for private parties & gatherings as well as a larger Oak Room. Additional lobby bar facilities are part of the upgrade works but we hope our guests can use our current lobby to relax, read and enjoy afternoon tea or evening drinks. Dun Laoghaire DART station is just a 5-minute walk away and provides regular rail connections to Dublin's city centre and the 3 Arena in just 20 minutes. The Aviva Stadium and the RDS can be reached after a 10-minute DART rail journey as can the beautiful village of Dalkey going in the opposite direction. On a local level, we are directly opposite the east pier (great for a walk) and close to Sandycove beach (swim all year!!), James Joyce Tower, Maritime Museum and a dozen other local attractions. We hope you'll get a chance to stay with The Haddington. ... more   less
