Situated on the seafront in Dun Laoghaire, Haddington House has panoramic views of Dublin Bay. Originally four Victorian townhouses the hotel began its life as Haddington House, a finishing school for girls, before being converted into a hotel in the 1950s. We are continuing to develop the hotel property but in keeping with the unique heritage of the building. Our fifty en suite bedrooms have flat screen multi-channel TV's, free WiFi, Nespresso coffee machines, digital radios, hair dryers and filtered still and sparkling water. Our newer 'Classic' and 'Deluxe' rooms also come with an in-room safe, a mini fridge stocked with fresh milk, as well as a complimentary Irish Times. Most of the rooms in these categories also have spectacular sea views. Oliveto, the award-winning restaurant with views of the sea, serves Italian-inspired fare and is extremely popular so booking is highly recommended. There's also some unique spaces to try while you stay: The Parlour, which serves cocktails during the evening as well as offering Afternoon Tea on weekends, and The Garden Bar, offering drinks and pizzas overlooking Dun Laoghaire's coast line. The location is hard to beat with Dun Laoghaire DART station just a 5-minute walk away which provides regular rail connections to Dublin's city centre. The Aviva Stadium and the RDS can be reached after a 10-minute DART rail journey. If you're staying in the area, we have partnered up with a number of local businesses so guests can enjoy discounts on activities. The beautiful village of Dalkey is a short trip down the coast and is great for an afternoon's ramble. Directly opposite us is the historic east pier which was built especially for the arrival of Queen Victoria in 1900. Around the corner is the National Maritime Museum and the James Joyce Tower made famous by Ulysses is just a 5-minute walk away. If you fancy a dip, we'll supply you with towels for a visit to the well-known swimming spot, the 40 foot (beware of the seals!) We look forward to welcoming you to Haddington House.

Detailed Reviews
We had a wonderful 5 night stay for our sons wedding at the end of August last year. the room was a classic sea view which we chose because it had a bath, with lashings of hot water and lovely amenities.
the views over the sea were really uplifting and added to the already beautiful room. We appreciated the Nespresso machine & the yummy chocolate Teacakes. As we also like tea we asked for a kettle too which was provided. The staff, from front of house, housekeeping and restaurant were really warm and friendly and went out of their way to be helpful .
Breakfast was a feast and again those views over the sea from the restaurant added a sparkle. It was like staying in someones really chic country seaside house, made more so for us as several family and friends were also staying.
Thank you Haddington

We had an excellent staycation here. Staff were so friendly, from the greeting to the gentleman who apologised for the (totally fine) builders in the lobby and offered a complimentary cup of tea and a tour of some closed rooms. We felt welcome immediately. Covid-19 protocols and safety and hygiene were managed to a very high standard but the hotel still felt relaxed and it was great being able to have a cocktail in the lobby! Dinner in Oliveto was delicious and rooms were very comfortable. Well loved the sea views. We will definitely return!

We spent a wonderful weekend in Dún Laoighaire & the Haddingtom to celebrate our wedding anniversary - from prior to arrival to our departure we could not have asked for better service. Nothing was too much for Sinéad and the staff, who were all lovely. Our room was simply delightful complete with a beach bag with towels if we wanted to go to Sandycove for a swim or a hot water bottle if that was needed. We had a sea view room which overlooked the harbour. The food in Oliveto was fantastic matched by the service of the friendly and attentive staff who served us complementary glasses of bubbly to help us celebrate our anniversary. It is this attention to detail which makes this hotel a total gem. The surrounding area from Seqpoint to Dalkey and the town centre are well worth exploring with lots of people on bikes, walking, sailing etc. Finally, the breakfast is outstanding. As you might have guessed from this review - we will definitely be back.

We chose to stay in Dun Laoghaire to have views of Dublin Bay and to be within walking distance to the James Joyce Tower and Museum. We booked directly their site for a better rate, and Sinead Boyle (Rooms Manager) was very gracious and helpful answering my questions.
The hotel is in a GREAT location. Lovely views, close to the DART, walkable area. Hotel reception and common area spaces were lovely as well. We did not try any of the on-site dining. Our room was small (expected) and a wee bit shabby (unexpected looking at website photos), though clean. With the great rate we paid, we were not unsatisfied with those aspects. However, the beds were very uncomfortable, with what seemed like older mattresses.
I would consider staying at HH again, due to the great location, view and very friendly staff. My main reservation would be the comfort of the bed.

Very good location, right in front of Dun laoghaire pier. However, there is nowhere to sit outside and enjoy the view unless you're having something to eat. I think that that the garden should have an allocated seating area for guests as well as those who have booked to eat....it's certainly big enough! We booked a meal via email before we arrived and were offered the garden or the restaurant. As it forecast a beautiful evening we opted for the garden to enjoy the sun and the view but we were very disappointed to find out on arrival that you can only order pizzas in the garden and this was not what we had in mind. Definitely feel that this should've been pointed out when we were booking. The hotel itself was fine, there was no bar open however, we were offered a drink in the lobby. The room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast was excellent but be aware that everything on the breakfast menu is priced individually so it can work out expensive. I think it'd be better if they had a standard rate for guests as is the case in most hotels.

Had the pleasure of booking our OutdoorSpaces Austrian Partner Wolfgang from Meissl into Haddington House. He stayed for four nights. The level of service was exceptional. I met him each morning in the lobby to be greeted by Emma or Sinead who were always smiling and so helpful. Wolfgang said his room was so tastefully designed and had a fab view of the sea. On one of the days we had to Zoom meeting with an important potential client and they could not have been more helpful in allowing us to use the Parlour Room to ourselves and the Wifi was perfect.
I over heard the owner (Fla I think is his name) talking to other guests and the amount of time he spent giving local advise and recommendations was unusual for a busy owner !
I could not recommend this Boutique hotel enough and will be booking all our International Partners and clients in the future as such a good location close the the DART and near the City but not in the city - more relaxing

Everything was lovely, from the reception in the elegant Library to the banquet in the Oak Room, to the closing moments in the foyer in the early hours of the morning. Not forgetting the breakfast much later the next day while looking out over a beautiful Dublin Bay.
All of the food served was delicious. The canapés before, the meal itself and the late night pizzas. I had asked you to be generous and there was really no need. There was an abundance of all the dishes from the sharing plates to the main course, the vegetables and the dessert.
Vegetarians were excellently catered for with a delicious risotto - popular also with carnivores.
The Oak Room was beautifully presented. White tablecloths, candelabra and flowers. It was really elegant and warmly welcoming.
The staff were unfailingly charming and helpful.
All in all it was a great day and evening. Everybody was impressed with Haddington House and we would recommend it unreservedly.
I must mention that the weather really favoured us and we were able to make the most of the hotel’s magnificent setting.
We very much hope to return - perhaps not with a wedding party but maybe a 70th birthday.

Myself and two friends stayed here for one night. From the moment we checked in, right up until when we left, it was an absolute pleasure and delight. Both receptionist were very welcoming. The rooms were beautiful and very spacious. Bathrooms supplied with all the toiletries and trinkets you would need. Lovely Nespresso machine, capsules and treats in the room.
Breakfast was another positive experience. Due to Covid, breakfast was not the normal buffet. We ordered off a menu and were given pastries, juices and coffees of our choice. Overall it was just simply a great experience and treat and would definitely recommend to a family, friends or couples.

My friends and I had a great stay at the Haddington. From the minutes we checked in by the lovely receptionist to the friendly bar staff, restaurant waiters and Manager when leaving, it felt very personal and we had the same staff for our entire stay. The hotel is really tastefully furnished and we loved our pre dinner cocktails in the cocktail bar. We had a delicious dinner in the restaurant that evening and again we couldn’t fault it. Definitely felt more like a restaurant than ‘hotel food’. The breakfast the next morning was delicious and freshly made with a great choice. The hotel’s location is perfect as there’s free parking outside, across the road from the dart and within 5 mins walk into pretty Dunlaoighre. All in all I would highly recommend for a getaway break.

Myself and my partner stayed here back in December and had no problem with the food, we were charged €12 and everything was included, but last week we stayed here again and availed of the breakfast for €12.50 each. We were charged €33 in total, and discovered when we checked the bill, we were charged extra for the coffee and orange juice we had. The full Irish was very overdone, and seemed like it had been sitting there for a while. This experience has put me off staying there in the future.

The hotel is about 8km from the racecourse. The railway station is only metres from the hotel. There is no train service to the racecourse, but a bus from the station to Leopardstown runs every 20 minutes according to Dublin bus website.
we asked for a quiet room away from the front of the hotel and we had no problem just ask for a quiet room when u book
Hi,
Yes, we have hairdryers in all of our rooms.
Regards,
Haddington House
Not that I have seen. Not needed in Ireland there is a breakwater to walk along outside.
Hi, yes they do only have a few spaces but there is a multi story 5ish min away.
Personally I have never had an issue parking at the hotel.
