The Travelodge Dublin City Centre in Rathmines garners appreciation for its prime location near the city center, with guests enjoying the peaceful vicinity and easy access to public transport. However, some travelers feel the accommodations, described as basic or somewhat run-down, do not offer value for the price, particularly when parking proves to be a hassle. While the rooms are commended for their cleanliness and comfort, issues such as malfunctioning toilets and unpleasant odors have been noted. The hotel's atmosphere, marked by inviting spaces and garden views, alongside the commendable service provided by friendly staff, often leaves a positive impression on its guests.

Hotel is well located walking distance or a short drive to the city centre. Reception staff didnt seem to bother much about guests, which makes you feel that you are staying in a cheap hostel or motel. The room was very spacious however there was nothing in the room apart from bed - no wardrobe, no hair dryer, no iron and toiletries. Bathroom was spacious with hot water supply but so outdated with cracks on walls, bathtub and sink. No breakfast facilities as in other Travelodge hotels.
Given the price, i would expect slightly better quality of accomodation and service.

Dear aboris551011, Thank you for taking the time to post your review following your stay with us in March. I am sorry that you did not enjoy your stay. On arrival, our receptionist on duty should have advised you that we provide hair dryers, irons & ironing boards free of charge from the reception desk. These are available on request. Breakfast is also provided for our Guests in a Restaurant just two door down from us. We take Customer Services very seriously in Travelodge Rathmines and normally we excel in this. I will be speaking to the Reception Team again and re-iterate the importance of good customer service. I do hope that you will consider returning again and I can assure you of a happy & enjoyable visit. Kind regards, Geraldine Dunphy.

A good enough accommodation for a few nights. Hotel is in a well populated area but no noise reaches from outside. There’s Aldi in the very building, Lidl in front, Tesco and Spar within walkable distance (no minibar in the room).

Good features to mention: window can be opened few inches (to let air in); windowsill replaces the minibar; two spare pillows (no spare duvet); the heating rack for the bathroom towels was left working upon checkin (no bathrobes). There’s electrical heater in the room, appropriately sized TV and enough power plugs around (but no USB ports). Also free wi-fi with enough speed to stream (Prime or Netflix).

Shower cubicle however was the size of a wardrobe, awfully inconvenient. One can barely turn in it. There’s body & hair wash dispenser in it (one product for both) to keep things good for a short stay. 1 star down from my review for the cubicle size.

Reaching city center takes 15 mins on foot (downhill), taxi to the airport can be €25 best case (up to twice if taken from the airport), bus stop & taxi stand right in front of the hotel. Everything in the building is aged but kept utmost clean and the first impression is good.

For my stay, PayPal were able to offer payment on 2 or 3 monthly interest free installment upon booking, which was very convenient option to use.

I stayed for business. I arrived in the dark and struggled to find parking due to the location and busy road but there is a multi storey a bit further along from the hotel which cost around 10 euros for the night. My shower had only one temperature - luke warm so I was unable to use this. The room itself was small but comfortable, there was very little traffic noise which was good as I did have a room facing the busy street. The man on reception when i arrived was very polite and helpful and there are plenty of options for food within walking distance.

If you are looking for a comfortable, reasonably proced hotel in Dublin, I recommend this one highly.
I travel to Dublin frequently on business and many of the downtown hotels are quite overpriced AND in very noisy locations. It is much better to have an interesting half hour stroll to downtown while saving a lot of money and also being able to sleep soundly. The staff is VERY nice and efficient, the rooms are clean and it is in the midst of a very interesting neighborhood. There are a Lot of very good restaurants within a few blocks and an Aldi right next door. The bus stops right out side.

I stayed at Travelodge Rathmines in Dublin for two weeks. Very clean and tidy place. Very well heated during the cold winter month I was there. Comfortable beds, kettle with tea & coffee provided in the room. I also requested an iron board along with an iron that was provided. Breakfast was outsourced to BAKED cafe right underneath the Travelodge building. They do excellent hot breakfast. There is an ALDI and LIDL right underneath. The bus stops are right outside the main door as soon as your exit from the reception. The city centre is about 12 to 15 mins walk. Highly recommend place.

This Travelodge is in a very convenient location, at a walkable distance from central Dublin (St Stephen's Green) and close to Portobello, Ranelagh, Rathmines Road Upper, Rathgar, Dartry, Harold's Cross. There are many very good restaurants and coffee shops, book shops, supermarkets (Dunne's & Tesco's), Post Office, launderettes, thrift shops on Rathmines Road Lower, as well as the mall in the Swan Centre.
The hotel provides the standard Travelodge accommodation: clean, basic and convenient, appropriate for 1 or 2 nights' stay. The room was therefore a bit small for a 6-night stay but in compensation, the staff could not have been nicer or more welcoming. They went out of their way to help, although we hardly needed anything beyond what was provided. The location and the staff ensured that we recommend this hotel highly.

Budget hotel. No frills.
Positives:
Clean

Good blackout from curtains
Friendly, helpful, professional staff
Great transport connections
Budget but acceptable toiletries

Negatives:
Toilet squashed in a corner. Difficult for a larger sized person to use
Bath towels tiny (see prev comment)
TV reception very poor
Noisy. Room faces onto busy main road’ (tip: ask for a rear facing room)

Might come back

I stayed at this hotel in August 2023 with my mother. We stayed for two nights. The hotel is very decent. I wouldn't say it's the best, but it's certainly not the worst, either. The rooms are clean and comfortable. However, there is no wardrobe or proper place to put your clothes. There is just one coat rack with a few hangers. They could improve the rooms by putting something that customers can put their clothes into. The hotel is also pet friendly, so that is good news for those travelers who want to travel with their four legged friends. The hotel is just in front of a bus stop so it is very easy to hop on the bus and get to the center of the city in just a few minutes. The staff are also very friendly, especially the lady at the front desk. I definitely do give this hotel a positive rating and I would go back there to stay again.

The rooms are spacious and the beds very comfy. The only drawback is that the rooms are a bit cold, but we were told that's due to "green" regulations, so one wears an extra T-shirt and helps our Earth too. The stuff is very friendly, and Rodrigo's tips for dining in the area very useful: thank you very much!
Another nice green thing is that they don't make the room as default, you need to hang a sign on the door. Good for not polluting our planet with unnecessary washing!
The position is great too: just in front of a bus stop where a gazzilion buses directed downtown go, but the road itself is very quiet at night, so you can sleep in peace. There is no dining area, so don't expect a wonderful breakfast, but you have an electric kettle in your room with teabags, instant coffe, and paraphernalia. I didn't pay for my stay, so I can't really say anything about price.

Excellent basic accommodations. This is a spotlessly clean hotel with outstanding staff. The location was just what I needed, an easy walk to the many downtown locations I had to visit. The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable.

The staff was outstanding. They were friendly and helpful with any request. In the evening, I asked for a taxi for an early morning flight. I approached the counter in the morning to ask again, expecting the message was not passed along, only to be greeted by name and told my taxi had just pulled up outside the door. I have a thing about communication, and they delighted me with theirs.

There is no sauna in this hotel. It is very basic, no bar or restaurant, just tea and coffee maker in the rooms. Plenty of eating places in Rathmines and the bus stop is right at the door.

Take the 757 bus to Camden. Just around the corner get a bus to Rathmines (town centre stop). Buy a Leaps visitor ticket in advance - either get it posted to you or buy at he airport. This is the best value for your stay as it covers all buses, trams and the Dart.

Hi I am sure that the hotel is only a few minutes by taxi and there is a bus stop across the road which will also take you directly to the city centre and from memory trinity is just off the same road the hotel is on. I don’t know if the hotel does twin beds sorry.
