The Dublin Skylon Hotel emerges as an inviting establishment with its spacious and nicely decorated rooms, although the decor occasionally receives feedback suggesting a refresh is due. Guests have called out the cleanliness of the hotel, especially the impeccable housekeeping. While the hotel's location earns praise for its convenience to the city and airport, opinions on value diverge; some guests appreciate the fair pricing and good meals, whereas others find the costs steep in relation to the quality.
The service is predominantly friendly and professional, but not without its lapses. Travelers are divided on room comfort, citing stuffiness and noise alongside cleanliness and quality amenities.

Hotel's Favourite
Absolutely fantastic hotel with great hospitality from arriving early to find our room was available. The room was very comfortable with a very comfortable bed with great pillows. The walk in shower was amazing and the toiletries were my favourite from Rituals. We will definitely be returning next year and can’t wait.

We stayed at the hotel for four nights.
Friendly reception staff, we have got room upgrade.
Clean and well maintained room. Very comfortable bed. Tea and coffee facilities.
Good and easy access from the airport.
Close to and from the city center - about 20 min (depending on traffic...) by Dublin Bus from the bus stop near the Hotel. Many restaurants and takeaways nearby.
Some noise from the busy Drumcondra Street and nearby supermarket construction.
I would basically have one remark - room cleaning should take place earlier, not in the late afternoon...
Generally worth recommending!!!

Stayed at the Skylon in Dublin with my girlfriend for the Scotland v Ireland rugby game and we were very much impressed. First of all, we got a great deal for a 6 nations weekend in Dublin, Location is great, a stones throw from Croke Park and about 20 minutes from the city centre, GPO and easily acxesssible to other Dublin attractions. Nice comfortable rooms, fantastic breakfast in the skylon bar and had dinner there too. Although dinner was a little pricey it did not disappoint and was just what we needed after a long drive over from Edinburgh and another long day at The Aviva. The Front desk staff were happy to receive our tickets before arrival Staff were very friendly and helpful, Hotel looks fantastic and all around was a great stay. Sadly I left the Aviva less happy than my girlfriend who as a Native to Ireland and naturally on the opposite team!
Safe to say we’ll definitely be back next time we’re in Dublin.

We stayed at the start of the month, unfortunately it was only for 1 night as we were only over for a gig in the city centre so we didn't really get full use of the hotel. We found our way easily from the airport, which was just a short bus ride (once we found the right stop.. Google maps fault) . The hotel was beautiful and very clean in the areas we were in, the warm welcome by reception and the comfortable reception area was much needed after a very early flight. The restaurant did look very nice but again unfortunately we did not make use of this. We did arrive in Dublin very early and reception were more than happy to check our luggage in while we refreshed and went out to explore before check in. Our room was possibly one still to be upgraded as was not as high standard as they look to be and I read reviews about but was still very comfortable, roomy, nicely decorated and very very clean. The shower was perfect and toiletries really were lovely.
Although a little warm, this was fixed by opening a window (who'd have thought) - there was noise from works happening next door, but I had read this and was not disturbed too much by it really especially not in comparison to noise I've dealt with staying in other hotels.
We really enjoyed the surrounding area, beautiful location, kept nice and clean and the locals were very friendly. I think the hotel is in a great location and we really want to return to Dublin for a longer stay, we would definitely return to the Skylon in future visits and hope to enjoy the services and relax a little more within the hotel itself. We hope for a return visit very soon

My husband , My son and myself stayed in one of the good sized family rooms in this hotel. The check in process was efficient and friendly. The information given at check in was very helpful. Booking a table in the lovely resturant was done at this time for us. The room that we stayed in was spotless and airy. Tea and coffee making facilities were well stocked. There is also a mini fridge in the room which was brilliant to have especially in warmer weather. The hotel staff were all so nice. We meet hazel Byrne the first evening. She showed us our table and spoke with us for few moments. She was very helpful with any question we asked. She gave us tips on where to go in Dublin. Although out visit was during the pandemic we were very comfortable in our surrounding. The hotel had a lovely atmosphere about it. People social distance but it was not uncomfortable. The food was superb we are in hotel both evening and tried different options. Each as lovely as the other. My son would highly recommend the lamb cutlets dish. The lamb just fell off the bone.
There is a bus stop across the road by the shop that brings you in Dublin city centre for €2.10. The bus only take coins no change given. It does have leap card facilities.
I would highly recommend this hotel to any person. Families, couples, groups. It suits all. The decor in the hotel is also beautiful and the hotel gave some great value for money deals.

As an events manager I was delighted with the service and facilities from the Skylon. We had a weekend conference back in February of this year and the service was impeccable. Although there was renovations being completed on the periphery of the premises, there was no sound interruptions or distractions. The hotel masked all work being done so as not to disrupt the smooth running of the weekend extremely well. The Staff are beyond helpful and friendly. The ladies at the front desk are a credit to the hotel. The space was perfect for a small to medium meeting. Some of our delegates stayed overnight and had a very pleasant stay in comfy rooms. This is a great upmarket hotel so close to Dublin City centre in the idyllic village of Drumcondra with loads of restaurants, cafes, shops and local amenities all within yards of the Hotel. It is on the main airport road and minutes from Croke Park and the city centre. All main public transport access and 5 min walk from Drumcondra Train Station
I can highly recommend the Skylon and look forward to having our next Dublin event back there !

Our trip to Dublin was a Christmas present for my father in law.
We booked 2 rooms - one for myself & my partner and a room for my father in law and brother in law.
On arrival, check in was smooth. My partner and I got our room straightaway despite the official check in time was a good few hours away. Not forgetting to mention our room upgrade. The other room wasn’t ready but we were more than happy to wait. My father and brother in law put their luggage in our room whilst they waited for their room. The staff on the front desk were really helpful and friendly. They gave us lots of advice about transport. I’m sorry I didn’t get catch their names.
The room was spacious and nicely decorated. Just what we needed.
The hotel is situated slightly outside the town centre but certainly wasn’t a hindrance. It’s about a 25/30 minute walk from the hotel to O’Connell Street which we really enjoyed.
There is a bus stop right outside the hotel which will take you into town. At night, we took a taxi back to the hotel. As there was 4 of us it worked out cheaper to get a taxi. During rush hour, from the Guinness factory we paid 20€ for a taxi, that was the most we paid for a taxi back.
When we initially booked, we didn’t pay for breakfast as we weren’t sure if we wanted breakfast or eat later and have a big brunch. We ended up having breakfast everyday at the hotel and you pay for it when you’ve finished.
Breakfast was lovely, there’s something there for everyone. It’s a self service breakfast buffet and it certainly set us up for the day. The breakfast cost 14€ but you’d pay that for a breakfast with a hot drink elsewhere. For example, you could have a full Irish breakfast with pastries, a cappuccino and a couple of glasses of juice. There is also continental style breakfast with a choice of breads, continental meats and cheese. Not forgetting there are cereals, yogurt and fruit on offer.
Not forgetting they had gluten free options available such as bread, scones and pastries I believe.
I would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay here again 🙂

Booked this hotel as it is advertised as a 4 star hotel but should actually be a 3 star or below. Staff are not friendly or hospitable at all except for Mauritian lady at reception. Booked a king size room but was awfully small. Extremely hot at night with lots of traffic passing through all hours of the night. No fridge in room and slow flow of water from shower. Breakfast was limited and had to pay extra €14 to eat the continental part of the breakfast which is ridiculous. Shockingly cold behaviour from most staff at this hotel. Definitely will not recommend. I somehow get the feeling that not all residents are subjected to this type of treatment(from what I witnessed) and maybe we had a bad experience as we are of Indian origin????

Hi Lulujohn1234, Firstly we are very disappointed to read your review about our hotel and that you found your bedroom too small. All of our room sizes are displayed on all websites and our King Room includes a King Size bed as well as many amenities for you and your guest to use complimentary. We do apologise that there was an issue with your water pressure- we do hope you notified a member of our team as we always assist our guests with any room issues. The one word we would not use to describe our breakfast is limited as we have both hot buffet, continental buffet (cold meats, cheeses, fruits, cereals, pastries etc) as well as made to order items from our kitchen. We also provide many items for guests that may have allergies so we do feel disheartened as our breakfast would always be praised. On a more serious matter, we are very upset to read your words about our team. We hire and train our team to provide an excellent service for all our guests no matter what race or region they are from. The last part of your review is very hurtful to our team as this is a complete assumption on your behalf and certainly not what we are about nor have we ever discriminated against any guest as you have suggested in your review. It should also be noted that we have a Multiracial team meaning that we have many different races in every area of the hotel and having won Quality Employer 1st place award for Best Place to Work in association with the Irish Hotel Federation we can only vouch that our team is very happy working here. We take every review posted extremely seriously but we are very disappointed to read yours and the content it provided. Team Skylon

The Skylon is an ok hotel. It seems fairly new in the reception/bar areas, but quite old and dated on the floors where the rooms are. Supposed 4 star hotel, but more like a middling 3 star.
We stayed 1 night (2 adults, 2 young kids) and found the family room to be just ok:
- 1 double bed and 2 single beds
- heating was constantly on and there was a fan that helped slightly with air circulation otherwise the room is extremely stuffy and hot. But you are still going to sleep poorly due to the stuffiness and age of the hotel
- tea/coffee supplies conveniently on a low shelf so our toddler was amused with his new toys. Not sure of the point of having 'family room' if there are just going to be breakable items that are accessible.
Overall, none of us slept well due to the stuffiness of the room so would only suggest to stay here in the warmer months when presumably the heat will be off.
If we visited again during winter, we would stay at a newer hotel with a more modern heating/air circulation system to get better sleep. It is worth the extra money.
Also, there is a gap in the market for a hotel with a decent family room that is not filled with useless decorations or coffee cups/etc.

Hi cobie1982, Thank you for taking the time out to write a review about your stay at the Skylon hotel. We are very disappointed to read that you were uncomfortable during your stay as you found the room too hot. Our team are on hand to help with any temperature issues. At any stage did you contact reception with the issue? Our family room is well equipped for both families and groups of adults so the room is multi-functional with amenities for that reason. However we understand the reasoning behind your recommendation so we will certainly let our housekeeping know about the helpful tip. Kind regards Clodagh O'Mahony

Checked in when it was busy, on checkout was not even asked if everything was okay and if I enjoyed my stay.
Food was good but service was a big disappointment. Service needs to improve immediately waitresses serve people but don't check back at them.
Only good thing was that the toilets in main ground floor regularly sanitised and well maintained especially by a particular toilet attendant. Toilet attendat clearing tables for news guests to sit and eat? where was the waitresses and waiters. The same toilet attendat from last night was clearing my table during breakfast. Staff very unstaffed I felt sorry for the poor guy.

Unfortunately, we do not have air conditioning in the rooms. To ensure safety, the windows are designed to be opened for ventilation purposes only. It is important to note that they cannot be fully opened to avoid any potential hazards.
There is certainly 24hr reception, so I would think you can. It may be worth a call or email to warn them you will be that late.
Hope that helps, it's a lovely hotel.
Hi. I'm afraid I don't know the exact answer to this. However If you get an airport coach it will drop you quite a way past the hotel, leaving you with a good 10/15 min walk. However I have caught an ordinary bus service from airport into Drumchondra/city centre which takes you right past hotel and there is a bus stop very close by the hotel. Cheaper and more convenient. Good luck.
Parking is €8 per 24 hours, so you can take your car in or out as often as necessary. Hope to have you come to stay with us soon
