We were treated very well, this was our second trip to the Clarence and we were upgraded to a suite from a double deluxe room. It would have been excellent but on the second morning my wife had some bacon that had been very overdone and was like cardboard so she left it. The previous day the breakfast was perfect.

Adrian, it was our pleasure to have you and your wife here for a return visit recently. I'm disappointed to read the experience at breakfast on the second day and I will pass this on to the management of Cleaver East. We hope you'll both be back for in 2016 to enjoy a third stay with us at The Clarence.

Noeleen, it's a pity to read that the noise from a neighbouring business impacted on your stay. While we've taken every measure to reduce the impact of this, it's unfortunate that we cannot eliminate it entirely. Some rooms are quieter than others here at The Clarence though it's dependant on the nightlife taking place in the vicinity of the hotel....

This was our third visit to the Clarence. Very nice room clean etc. Only problem was it was actually too warm in room and couldn't open windows due to smoke from smoking area in pub next door. Its very convenient to temple bar area which includes lots of nice pubs and restaurants. Only downside of visit was breakfast..a young pale...

Everything was fine! The stuff is friendly and helpful. It was the second time this year I stood overnight in 'The Clarence' - and it was definitely not the last time. The hotel is located in the center of Temple Bar.

This hotel was certainly an acceptable place to stay but it was too expensive. They seem to make a big deal about it being owned by Bono which is cool but doesn't improve the quality of the hotel. The front desk staff were very nice and the room was comfortable. The location is good if you want to hang around...

Thanks for posting your review of your recent experience of The Clarence. While the hotel doesn't make a big deal about or mention ownership unless we are asked about it, I understand that many travel sites and reviews detail this. It's disappointing to read that you found the price to be high and our rates are always dependant on multiple...

We stayed here early Dec for my wife's birthday. At first due to some reviews I was going to look elsewhere but decided to give it a go. The rooms may need attention, but ours really wasn't that bad, squeaky bed bad TV reception but we lived with these. The food and reception staff were great.

The hotel keeps the essence of the tranquil atmosphere that comes with the history of the building, with a lot of wooden paneling, off-white walls and a serene choice of furniture and finishing. The bathrooms have a retro-style equipment - no fancy leds or digitally controlled showers here but old-style luxury. It creates an atmosphere where you can unwind and...

Everything about this hotel exceeded our expectations. We arrived early enjoyed warm beverages at the octagon Bar and our room is ready before we knew it. The front desk staff kept us informed and they were both pleasant and courteous. The suite was comfortable and inviting. The restaurant selection was varied and the appetizers were quite tasty. The Irish breakfast...

Nice and simple hotel, excellent position, the property is Mr Bono and The Edge (U2). The area is quiet and full of pubs and trendy shops. The hotel staff is friendly and helpful. The room was confortable. The only flaw is that it's impossible to use the hairdryer in the bathroom, because there are only electric shaver.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Clarence boasts fifty bedrooms and suites, along with our world famous Penthouse Suite. Our rooms range from Classic through Deluxe and on to our River View and Garden Terrace Suites. Our furnishings are simple: classic Shaker oak, beds dressed in cool white linen, sitting elegantly in contrast to a palate of vibrant cardinal colours, rich drapes and luxe carpets. We aim to provide all the simple needs of our guests and we offer 'round the clock room service and all rooms have complimentary WiFi as standard. Our city centre location means car space is at a premium, but we do have a small underground car park that can be reserved for a small nightly supplement. It is also worth noting that our location does mean that the area can be lively at night, especially at the weekends and while we have taken every effort to reduce noise, it is not possible to block it all out. Please do consider this before booking. Within the hotel complex there are many drinking and dining experiences, from the chilled out bliss of The Study to the super stylish Octagon Bar, the perfect spot for an afternoon cocktail or a laid back nightcap. We also have Michelin star chef Oliver Dunne's Cleaver East restaurant within our walls and we are very proud that Oliver and his team provide all catering at the hotel, so whether it's a late night bite in your room or a Full Irish breakfast the next morning, you know your food will be of the highest standard, made from the freshest produce, closely cared for by Michelin starred hands. In the bowels of our building you will find the luxurious cocktail and food bar The Liquor Rooms, home to Dublin's arts set and the first ROI bar ever to be nominated in the prestigious Tales of the Cocktail Spirited Awards. On our first floor, overlooking the River Liffey lies The Cleaver East Suite at The Clarence, which can be reserved for special occasions, from large weddings to intimate business meetings. ... more   less
