We (family of 5) spent a November afternoon on Sherkin Island. Went looking for somewhere to have a snack and a drink and this was the only show in town :-) Friendly and welcoming - even off-season. Nice fire in the corner, piano beside it (our daughter tried a tune or two), and games room (well three pool tables really,...

I am so disappointed in the experience I had today in the islanders rest. The lady in the bar clearly didn't want us there however this wasn't the main issue. We were just grabbing a sandwich but what I got was foul. Ham shouldn't ever be going green/Brown and have a gelatinous consistency. I'm sure the owners would agree. See...

Stayed Wednesday to Monday and had a great stay. The views from the bedroom was fantastic watching the boats coming from Baltimore across to sherkin island.the restaurant was very busy considering it was the middle of September.the food was very good. The baked hake was great and the toasted sandwiches were very good. The staff were very friendly and the...

I loved the fish and chips! With a fantastic outdoor seating area on the grass - what a view! There's a little natural history exhibition from the Marine Station which is great for kids with interesting exhibits such as a dolphin skeleton. (my 7 year old was fascinated). There's a separate dining area for kids with pool and football.

Through the summer it's a busy pub attracting locals and visitors. It's a 5 min walk from the pier (which is 10 mins by ferry from Baltimore). The large marina attracts plenty of boats, and many come for a day or two and stay a while. It's a place people come year after year. Food is good with daily specials...

The hotel is on a stunning location over looking the harbour, right next to the ferry stop. The island is idyllic with gorgeous beaches. The hotel is basic but has very large clean and simple rooms with a flat screen TV. The restaurant has lovely fresh fish, i had baked hake and chips and my husband a sirloin steak with...

Such a beautiful location, bar could do with updating, bar food is very average indeed, I ordered 3 different main courses over my time here and you always feel you could do better yourself..... outside the hotel had fantastic views, one of the nicest places in West Cork I have seen, shame the outdoor are is not well maintained, in...

We've been several times to the Islander's Rest with a group of friends for a week in the summer. We've always had a marvellous time, on/off and in the water. Comfortable, clean rooms with fantastic views over to Baltimore; especially in the bar and breakfast room. There's always something to watch, whether its the ferries going back and forth or...

We've stayed at the Islander's Rest several times and it's ALWAYS great. Clean tidy rooms with some of the best views in Ireland...you could stand all day just looking out the window! The food was delicious especially the fish which was so fresh and beautifully cooked with 3 different types of vegetables. We had a lovely hot breakfast freshly cooked by...

For the price you pay for the rooms and food you would expect it to be much higher standard, talk about taking advantage of the tourist that come to Sherkin, if you are visiting the island make sure to bring your own picnic, much better restaurants in the main land of Baltimore and more value for money.
