The Hotel and Reasterant has had a revamp menu is in Italian, so many fantastic starter, mains and deserts to choose from. My Husband and I visit here with my siblings and their partners ever three months , for a wee dinner bed and breakfast. We all love it but this visit with the new menu was the best visit ever. As we were all choosing what to eat we were also choosing what to have the next time lol. All the bedding looks brand new, amazing pillows too , beds are a mix of medium or hard so we swap rooms so we each have the kind of bed we like .

We came along to the restaurant last night to celebrate my parents 60th Wedding Anniversary. From arriving we were looked after excellently by Michael and all of his team. Food was lovely and everyone enjoyed all courses, including nice wine and drinks. It’s been a few years since we’ve visited having previously been fairly regularly. Very pleasantly surprised, and hope to return in the near future. Thanks again for making it a special night for Roy and June👍

Simon Marshall when I arrived on the 10th early took 500 pounds so I could get a room then denied the fact until realising the camera that saw it and claimed I gave him a tip of 500 pounds just for doing his job, after all of this I was faced with a disgusting attitude of Mary lambie as I like to tip staff members for doing a good job something I never gave her she decided that I did not belong in her hotel to which then I left with no problem as after the treatment from Mary lambie was so disgusting like her face

I’m going to start with the positives as this place needs to be bigged up. A small independent up against the big name brands. Every staff member was friendly approachable and smiling. Nothing was too much trouble. We had a problem with our first room which was instantly resolved and we were moved no hesitation. We ate in the restaurant Fico restaurant. Both had the tagliatelle one with steak one with king prawn overall hearty and tasty and again exceptional service. Now on to the downsides. The first room we were allocated number 19 was spacious and faced the main road with big picture windows. Though clean the room was tired and could do with some TLC. The heat when we opened the door was oppressive and we were unable to turn down the radiator as the dial was on the floor. We tried fitting it back on with no luck. Opening the window let the traffic noise in and there was no way we could have slept there. As I mentioned we were moved rooms with no bother to a family room in the refurbished annexe (as per photos). This room was spacious comfortable and much better maintained than the first. No coffee on the tray though just teabags. There were memory foam pillows and comfortable mattresses. The noise from the road was minimal and bar the noise from other guests talking whilst coming and going was peaceful. Overall we had an ok stay and for the price would return to help the hotel save some pennies and give all rooms some love. We also prefer giving our money to the independents they need our support.

Had the best 2 course lunch in the Avonbridge. Food was so tasty and atmosphere was very relaxed and friendly. Great value, food all very fresh and good choice on the set menu, waiting staff were really friendly and good choice of wine, will definitely be back.

I stayed one night before continuing my journey north. I stayed in a room on ground floor. It was clean. However the mattress was thin and lumpy. Bathroom was clean and shower worked well. Dinner at the “Italian”restaurant in the hotel building. Nice staff. Very limited menu. Not much Italian influence almost like a small pub menu. I had chicken wings for starters. Looked good on the menu but it turned out to be pre boiled then coated in a hint of something slimy and light brown sprinkled with a few sesame seeds. The starter was not nice at all. Then I reluctantly ordered the steak as it looked good on the menu. The food arrived in good time as the restaurant was not busy. The steak was admittedly only 8oz and it arrived balanced on a small heap of skinny fries like the ones you get in kfc. I got a small pot of “peppercorn” sauce no taste of peppercorn at all. Then there was was a small portion of tired looking rocket sprinkled with ….sawdust….oh that was the Parmesan cheese (remember this is an Italian restaurant). Got to make it authentic like :)) the food was warm the steak was not tough thankfully. For the price 26£ for the little steak I was rather disappointed. I enjoyed the glass of Shiraz that was served by a polite and friendly staff member. If it weren’t for the friendly staff and the nice gas’s of wine, I wouldn’t have enjoyed the dinner at all. Overall disappointed with my experience at the so called “Italian” restaurant. After a rather uncomfortable night. I dragged myself to the breakfast room which was the previous nights stage show of the Italian restaurant. Breakfast was appalling. The coffee was dark black bitter and foul tasting. Engine oil would have tasted better. I won’t bother to describe the display of cereal and juice and bread and toaster. I ordered a cooked breakfast and I requested to fried eggs with soft yoke. No point in wasting one’s breath making any special request even if it’s given politely caus you get what ever they decide back there so again the experience was unpleasant. Probably one of the worst breakfast I have ever had. I supposed because the price is cheap one should expect low standards but I have had much better staying in a Travelodge for half the price. However, I would like to say the reception staff and the Italian restaurant staff were great. Certainly not going back there again.

I should preface this by saying the staff were lovely, for the most part. Still though, £180 for 2 nights just isn't worth it. - Unclean bathrooms. - Damp/stained/damaged light fixtures. - Stains and marks all over the walls, windows and curtains. - Tiny rock hard mattresses and pillows. - Outside lights are left on all night long and beam into the rooms. - Floors are creaky, uneven and covered in what looks like a 30 year old carpet. - Very little in the way of disabled access other than the ramp at the front. (The ground floor rooms in the main building are only accessible via stairs). - Breakfast was just horrible. The tea and coffee looked like it was made with puddle water from outside. The worst thing by far though - The night porter fell asleep and was very rude when woken up. Family flying in couldn't get into the building for the better part of half an hour and were stuck outside with their bags in the middle of the night, in the rain. Whole place just feels old and run down.

The staff here went above and beyond to make my mother in laws funeral go to plan. Marco and his team provided the perfect venue. The room was dressed to a very high standard and the food was outstanding. We stayed 2 nights in the Hamilton suite, which was a high standard room with a very comfortable bed. Antonio front of house made us feel very welcome, at breakfast and dinner. I can’t pick any faults therefore I would recommend the Avonbridge hotel to anyone, it’s a 5* from us many thanks to the team here👍

I was there 30 years ago , one of the best hotels you could visit . The staff were extremely helpful and friendly , but the room was terrible. I don’t think it had been touched in 30 years!!!. The curtains were filthy , the bed sheets were ripped , there was no drawer storage . There were cobwebs everywhere , water marks on the ceiling at the window. We had the kitchen extractor fan right outside our bedroom window !!

Broken lights, broken lampshades, damaged floors, carpets stuck down with masking tape. Last straw was when I decided to have a bath the water came out dirty. 😬 Brought it to the attention of the girl on reception only to be told they "didn't have a handy man to fix it a present?" I asked why the water was like that and was told "it's probably the tanks haven't been cleaned out... how long did you run the water for?" 🤨 I won't be back.
