I read some of the reviews and was a bit worried on what I would find when i arrived. Like previous reviews state you have to go over the road to get the keys but that was easy enough and there is a crossing just a little bit up. I had the room right above the karaoke but that was fine as i was in the bar till it finished so no problem. I wouldn't book if you want a quiet night as karaoke didn't finish till 0100 and the singers were awful, even after a few pints. The hotel was perfect for what i wanted and i wasn't expecting the Ritz. The locals were brilliant and the barman was friendly, even doing a few quiz questions whilst i was waiting on mates arriving. Its a cheap and cheerful room above a pub and I would book again if in the area.

The stay was a game of two halves as on the first night there was absolutely no chance of sleep until 1am as the noise from the karaoke and entertainment pounded through the building. We were in room 3, directly above the music, and it was truly hideous. I did inform the owners but they did not reply. I honestly feel that rooms should not be let out there on nights when there is entertainment. I recorded the noise from my pillow and replayed it the next day-it was so loud! The room was basic but very clean and warm. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom had a good shower. The other nights were fine noise wise. Parking is nowhere near as tricky as people have made out. Just across the road and very safe. The cleaning lady was lovey and friendly and the staff in the pub, although it was not their responsibility to do so, were responsive to our concerns and kept us informed of future events. They were so friendly. I have no idea re the noise levels in the other rooms as my request to be moved was ignored but would honestly avoid on events nights. Well positioned for our stay and reasonably priced. I would not have paid a penny for the Saturday night if given a choice or response as it was absolutely not a hotel room as described as sleep was truly impossible.

So we booked rooms above The Bay Horse for a Monday and Tuesday. The rooms dont actually belong to the pub but the Spice Restaurant across the road where you get the keys and park your car. There was no breakfast at the pub or food till the weekend, so good job we had family here. Currently listening to rap music from the pub below, currently 11.30pm, so much for a good nights sleep. Wont be staying here again. Good job our border terrier is not faised by the pounding music or it could have been a different matter this time of night.

Convenient, spotlessly clean and cheap. We parked across the road behind Spice Restaurant. The hotel is just a short walk away from restaurants in Cadzow Street. It is also near Hamilton West station and frequent trains to Glasgow. Slept like a log, lulled by hum of traffic on Bothwell Road.

Good place to stay on our trip to Hamilton for the football. Nice clean rooms serviced by a lovely friendly lady who is happy to get anything you need for the room . Car parking is across the road with cctv , so not a problem. The hosts of the pub are very welcoming and helpfull. Rooms are above the pub so can be noisy until 1am when the Kareoke stops but did not affect our stay here. Price of rooms and location is excellent and would stay again

The room was exactly as advertised. It was very clean and the bed was comfortable. It was as advertised on the website including that the Karaoke would finish at midnight. The power shower was wonderful! If I return to Hamilton for a conference, I would rebook.

I can only honestly review on the first 10 minutes I was in the place - I left as soon as I found another hotel! Called ahead as I was running later than the last check in time to be told I needed to be there by 10pm or they’d “just leave me a key somewhere”. Parking is behind the restaurant in a small dark car park, over the busy dual carriage way! Entry to the place is on a dark side alley. Steep steps immediately on entry, tight corridor, flimsy room door … I can get over all of that but the smell in my room was disgusting. Attempted to call both landline and mobile numbers (no answer as everyone clocks off at 10pm). Did not feel safe at all as a solo traveller, so promptly booked a different hotel and left the bay horse behind (hence the lack of photos). If you can avoid I would definitely advise it!

Stopped over on the way back to the Midlands from Inverness. We picked this place because it was the only one that didn't charge at all for our 2 dogs that other places made staying ridiculously expensive. It was a surprisingly large room, absolutely clean & well maintained. I congratulate the cleaner for keeping the rooms so pristine. Although we were in the front overlooking the road, we didn't notice the traffic much & the beds were 2 singles together so plenty of room & comfortable as well. It was a Thursday so not much noise from the pub below. I think it might be different at the weekend when there's various events going on. Nice big TV & tea/coffee making facilities. It's important to know that check in is across the road at the Indian restaurant & parking is behind it. The people in the pub downstairs were very welcoming too although they have nothing to do with the rooms. There is a large park 5 minutes up the road for dogs to exercise. Definitely a good place for an overnight stop.

I refused to stay here this evening. Spoke to the hotel when I found that their advertised free parking is the other side of a four lane busy road. My elderly father would never have made it across. The nearest crossing is about 200 yards down the road and there is a high kerb in the middle of the road- if you can get there! They said I was ridiculous to expect parking to be next to the hotel. Put the phone down on me and charged me for the room anyway. I feel they misrepresented their facilities. Photos attached. The Spice restaurant across the road is where you’ll actually be expected to park. Take in the picture of the road - when I was parked there trying to talk to the hotel my car was rocking with the constant flow of cars!

I tried calling before arrival but the mailbox was full so my call wouldn’t even ring out to connect. I was later told by a staff member that it’s always like that, no one can ever get through. Rooms situated above a bar, staff were unwelcoming when we arrived and we queried if we could check in. Simply told me “ We don’t do it go across the road to the restaurant”. No staff at the bar in the restaurant, had to wait a short while even though staff could see me from the kitchen. Checked in. Asked for an iron and was told there might be one in the room, if not come back. Had to park in the restaurant car park and cross a very busy road to get back to the bar/hotel. Rooms were very bare and basic but clean. No iron found, had to go back across the busy road to the restaurant and wait again to speak to someone who said “no we don’t have any nothing I can do”. Went to our family event, upon returning after 11pm could hear very loud music/karaoke coming from down the road round the corner, turns out it was coming from the bar/hotel so I already could feel the dread in me before parking up in the restaurant across the road (again). The music, singing and bass were so loud in our rooms the floors and walls were vibrating. It was like there was a party going on in our rooms directly. It didn’t stop till after 1am, I could’ve cried I was so tired. Had hardly any sleep and had to drive the 3 hour journey home. Myself and other family members were all very disappointed with the service, rooms and our experience. We will most definitely not be returning or recommending!!
