I tried calling before arrival but the mailbox was full so my call wouldn’t even ring out to connect. I was later told by a staff member that it’s always like that, no one can ever get through. Rooms situated above a bar, staff were unwelcoming when we arrived and we queried if we could check in. Simply told me “ We don’t do it go across the road to the restaurant”. No staff at the bar in the restaurant, had to wait a short while even though staff could see me from the kitchen. Checked in. Asked for an iron and was told there might be one in the room, if not come back. Had to park in the restaurant car park and cross a very busy road to get back to the bar/hotel. Rooms were very bare and basic but clean. No iron found, had to go back across the busy road to the restaurant and wait again to speak to someone who said “no we don’t have any nothing I can do”. Went to our family event, upon returning after 11pm could hear very loud music/karaoke coming from down the road round the corner, turns out it was coming from the bar/hotel so I already could feel the dread in me before parking up in the restaurant across the road (again). The music, singing and bass were so loud in our rooms the floors and walls were vibrating. It was like there was a party going on in our rooms directly. It didn’t stop till after 1am, I could’ve cried I was so tired. Had hardly any sleep and had to drive the 3 hour journey home. Myself and other family members were all very disappointed with the service, rooms and our experience. We will most definitely not be returning or recommending!!

Well, first there was no WiFi as stated, check in was across 4 lanes of busy traffic, then 4 lanes to get back. The room booked was a double but what we found was two single beds pushed together, was uncomfortable to sleep on and kept rolling into the centre. The blinds had questionable stains on them, as did the walls, the shower was broken and I could've gotten wetter if someone stood and spat at me. The shower gel box was also broke. There was greasy hand stains on the head board. We were right above what felt like hell as the temperature of the room was somewhere between 15 degrees and Satan. No food/drink available. No staff anywhere. Definitely not worth the £100 spent for two nights.

We came along as it was my Daughters 7th Birthday. Staff couldn't be more attentive and the food was 1st class for very reasonable price. I recommend the steak pie! My Son has asked to come back for his own Birthday when given the choice of anywhere to go to. Phone ahead to ask about kitchen opening times but at a fraction of what other local venues are charging you will get the best quality food from new chef who has come from Maggie Mays in Glasgow. Not to be missed!

Yes, I wanted to be quite near the races and the railway station and the Bay Horse met my criteria. However, where I didn't dig deep enough is that Friday night is karaoke night! On the positive, my reception was quick and functional, the room was small, but generally fine bar an intermittent television reception. But the music blasts away until one - and I mean blasts, it was impossible to even consider sleep until it finished. So, if you like your late night music get yourself along, if you want a bit of decent kip on a Friday, don't.

Went in at 1pm on a Sunday... Not a soul in the place but thought I’d hang about and we would have a drink anyway.. Sat at the bar for five minutes while the bartender was standing outside smoking. We left. Won’t be back.

Went here to watch football the other evening, wasn't particularly busy. 2 bar staff on one on phone and one serving. Got my Guiness, would say, pint, but wasn't a pint. The obligatory inch of head..... Settled in to watch game, ordered another, eventually got served 2 bar staff , quiet pub.....Again, pint....was short of the mark.... Second half started and i went to take a drink of my ... pint... which had about 1/4 left in it....GONE..... Bar was filling up but by no means busy.... 2 Bar staff ..... one on phone, the other looked like had just come out the gym, chatting to her pals. So not only do you get short changed, and ignored you dont even get to finish off the drink you had paid for. That and the soccer casuals vaping, " green" best avoided

We travelled there for dinner one evening and were not disappointed. A quaint pub with a lovely three course dinner at a reasonable price. There was a selection of entrees, main meals and sweets. The place had atmosphere and quickly filled up as the night went on, this is probably due to the good service and great food. We would definitely go there again.

We stayed one night for the races. The locals were very hospitable both before and after the racing. The pub is a traditional sports bar. The rooms are modern and clean. The fire alarm kept going off in the morning, luckily we were awake anyway. Will definitely return. A big scottish breakfast would have been nice!

Booked to break our journey on way to stay in Edinburgh. On main road and if busy it could be an issue with parking but we parked at side of building. Rooms via separate door to rear of public house. Very clean and presentable decor in communal landing. Room clean, tidy and good value for money. Bathroom big and shower really good. Plenty of drawer and hanging space. Lady in charge was very pleasant and helpful. Cannot fault the hospitality. Pub was busy and lively with karaoke on the Friday we stayed. Very popular bar considering not a lot of other attractions around. Ideal for Hamilton racecourse.
