Enterkine Country House Resort offers an experience that many find to encompass luxury and comfort, with its modern amenities and stunning atmosphere receiving accolades from numerous guests. However, opinions diverge regarding the rooms, which, while comfortable, have faced criticism over cleanliness and heating issues. The service shines with instances of staff providing warm and attentive care, yet some guests have encountered inconsistencies. Amenities are generally celebrated, especially the food, though room upkeep and breakfast have room for enhancement. The resort's value proposition garners mixed feelings, with some questioning the cost relative to the services provided.

Went for a family meal during the eat out to help out scheme.

Unlike other restaurants I've been to lately there were lots of hand sanitisers available. Tables clearly wiped down as well.

Food was fantastic and despite being very busy the service was great as well with the staff at reception being really friendly and directing us to our seats.

Will definitely come again.

The chicken with the peppercorn sauce was delightful along with the handcut chips (loads of them). The sliders were great and my son enjoyed the scampi and chips even though he is usually picky.

Definitely recommend Enterkine.

Were meant to be walking the Ayr River Walk but due to the storm warnings didn't walk but decided to just enjoy the overnight stops we had planned. Husband had booked this Hotel so I hadn't taken much interest. What a lovely stay we had here. We arrived early and enjoyed coffee while our room was prepared. The dining room rapidly became busy with Sunday carvery on offer as well as the main menu. We didn't have lunch but the carvery looked excellent. We were given an upgrade to a beautiful large room with spacious ensuite with one of the largest balconies Ive seen. We had dinner in the main restaurant and plumped for the excellent value for money set 3 course. The choice was wide ranging, delicious. The service was faultless too a great balance between being attentive and giving space. Thats a talent all of its own getting that right. A very restful, peaceful nights sleep in our lovely room watching the sun rise over the spectacular views of the Ayrshire countryside. Thought I couldn't eat anymore after the dinner but managed to scoff the full Scottish breakfast. Again perfect. We walked around the function suite/wedding venue, there has been a large investment into this and it was a gorgeous area that I am sure will benefit many businesses in the surrounding area too. Faultless stay.

Stayed here and found the location very picturesque. Our room was a good size and had everything we needed. Excellent base for travelling around the area. Excellent seating areas outside with pleasant country views. Staff all very helpful and courteous.

Meals were of average standard but COVID precautions were not impressive. All the correct notices were displayed and plenty sanitiser available but general implementation was poor. While not obligatory at the time, many people did not wear masks when moving around and not all serving staff wore them. At one point the restaurant was crowded with some people too close for comfort. There were never many people at breakfast, yet service was not so good then, especially when staff disappeared making getting any help rather delayed.

Can generally recommend but COVID needs to be taken more seriously.

We stayed for one night in this hotel mainly on the back of the (mostly) positive reviews on Trip Advisor. There were only 6 of the 20 plus rooms occupied, but the hotel was quite busy with locals taking advantage of the Eat out to Help out scheme.
Our room on the top floor was clean and quite big with a good view, but our suitcase had to be dragged up the stairs (no help was offered) as the lift was not working. It was very hot in all the rooms even with the windows all open and a fan going but it had been an exceptionally warm day.
There was no guidance or signage about wearing masks in the hotel but there were some dispensers of hand sanitiser at various points. We decided that on a balmy summer night rather than go to the indoor bar, we would take an outside table for a drink. Some 30 minutes later we finally were served having had the attention of 3 different waiters – the problem eventually was resolved by the manageress. The order was nothing complicated – just two basic drinks, so why did the staff find it so difficult? We were not the only ones complaining either.
Later in the restaurant, to be fair, the service was much better and the food was good value and quite tasty.
At 6am early next morning as it was getting light, we were woken by the piercing shrill of the fire alarm going off. Sometimes that sort of thing happens, and we evacuated down the fire escape stairs to the car park. The night manager appeared in the foyer in bare feet while on the phone to someone. He was pushing buttons on the alarm panel under instruction from the person on the phone but this was having no effect on switching the alarm off.
Guests from the 6 occupied rooms were milling about wondering what was happening. At no time did the night manager apologise or say what was happening and why he could not turn the alarm off. He made no attempt to check everyone was out of the building or have a roll call of any kind. The situation was eventually resolved some 30 minutes later by the arrival of the manageress who had the alarm shut off within a few minutes. She did apologise, but several guests pointed out the lack of a roll call or safety instructions – it was a shambles and potentially dangerous.
There was also no appearance by the fire brigade but the manageress said that as a night manager was on site there was no requirement to have an automated call out to the fire station.
We came down for breakfast about 9am, but were surprised to see that fruit juice, cereal, tea and coffee were all self-service - not sure if that is allowed in the current circumstances. The fruit we ordered and the cooked part of the breakfast was brought to the table by the manageress.
Later on checking out she said to us it was a false alarm caused by dust but if that were the case why did the alarm wait until the early hours of the morning to go off when the rooms were much cooler? I made the comment to her that staff training seemed to be an issue. There seemed to be no checklist or action plan followed in what turned out to be a false alarm.
Overall, there seemed in my opinion to be a very casual approach to health and safety both in terms of the Covid 19 pandemic and fire safety. We will not be staying there again.

Unbelievably poor service and value for money.

I’ll start with the room. We stayed in the woodland lodge which sells for £145 on the website. It’s a wooden glamping hut in the trees away from the main building. Freezing cold with broken underfloor heating and one of two radiators not working. There was a blind missing and as it is ground level people can walk up and look in which is exactly what we saw two people do as we arrived. It was totally different to advertised photos and reception claimed it had be refurbished. It was cold, bare and unwelcoming. The outside was covered in cobwebs and the lights at seating area didn’t work. The floor is spongy and the cable TV advertised was a poor offering of free view channels.

When we politely questioned the false adverting, dated pictures, missing soft furnishing and above issues we were offered another cabin which admittedly was nicer but was open plan with shower and toilet in the same room as the bed with no door. Hardly a romantic set up with zero bathroom privacy and no TV. Clearly an unacceptable alternative so eventually they put cardboard over the window and extra electric heaters which got us through the night.

After all the hassle we ordered dinner from a nearby takeaway so cannot comment on that but while having a few drinks on the patio we were subjected to long waits for drinks and hideous music at times which included constant swearing along with racist and vulgar lyrics. Ambience seemed to elude this otherwise lovely outdoor area which was the only highlight of the stay.

Finally breakfast and after being left standing in an empty restaurant we were shown to a table and ordered. Despite advising of a mushroom allergy mine came with mushrooms and my partners came with toast and no butter or preserves. There was no sugar on any tables or sauce. No teaspoons or butter knives. Also nobody to be seen most of the time. Cereals, juices and hot drinks were empty and buffet style when only table service is allowed currently in indoors hospitality.

To sum it all up it’s the most unprofessionally ran hotel I’ve had the misfortune to stay at. It’s a building site at present with loud noise early till late. Builders walking around grounds smoking and indoors without masks. A common trend here as most staff weren’t wearing one either. The woman behind reception was rude, abrasive and unhelpful even calling my parter “darling” at one point.

At check out there was no attempt to apologise for the catalogue of errors. As someone who owns hospitality venues I found the lack of empathy, unprofessionalism and ignorance astounding. The one shining light was the younger gent working the bar who was polite, courteous and friendly. Everyone else there could learn a lot from him.

Brought my wife here as a treat as we had been here before and loved it. This stay was dreadful! I booked online but no confirmation email?? I had to phone a few days later as still no confirmation to be told the system was down. I originally wanted dinner at 7.30pm but this was not possible as kitchen was closing early due to cleaning? I was told 7pm would be more suited (for them!) Upon arrival, the reception looked like my local gym with the receptionist (turns out it was the owner) wearing trainers leggings and a gym top. A smile would of been nice. I had to witness her eating her lunch as she spoke to me behind a bombsite of a desk! The room wasnt ready for 2pm (check in time) but 25 minutes later. After checking in, I was TOLD 6pm would be a better time for dinner because all the staff were tired as they had been so busy with weddings ... WTF! We weren't directed to the room, (no signage anywhere!) We weren't told about reduced dinner menus, breakfast times etc...
We stayed in the oval room at £185 per night. Nice and large room but basic things were missing. No room service available, no phone in the room, dirty bathroom floor, no where to hang your towels, no bath robes or slippers. We never found out where the light switch was for the bathroom. There was no iron or board in room as advertised. The clothes hangers were cheap and tacky. For me basic necessities for a 4 star hotel.
The bar was a mess and looked nothing like the online photos; this can be said for the entire hotel! My wife asked for a drinks menu to be told there wasnt one, she asked for a cocktail menu, again told there was none. The bar man named a few cocktails he could do and we picked some, which were really nice. We were given 2 different menus for dinner. 1 menu had 3 choices on it , the other had 4. No waiting staff to be seen. Just the barman to run the food. He was pleasant although looked run down to the ground! Double espresso tasted like bathwater. I was told the bill would be settled in the morning. Good sleep was to be had. Breakfast was horrendous! No one to greet you, in fact there was no waiting staff, only an older man dressed in a slogan t-shirt behind the bar and told us to pick a table and help yourself to buffet. Food was tepid at best and was cooked God knows when and then forgot about. It was foul! Cold tea was self service from a flask. Toast was soggy and cold. The only other option was cereal! No fruit no healthy option! Nothing. Gobsmacked by an atrocious breakfast! On check out i paid the bill only to realise I had been over charged! Overall a horrible experience, which is the total opposite of what used to be a lovely hotel and a great experience. Be warned ⚠️

Enterkine House is beautiful.
However we booked lunch and it was not so good.
We had Scampi and Chicken meals. The Scampi was out of a frozen packet as were the so called hand cut chips. The chicken was rubbery so don’t know where that came from.
The pepper sauce had no pepper corns in it. The mushy peas were horrible.
Made the owner aware.
She stated these we difficult times and they were not the usual standard and rabbled on about the Government deal.
They are obviously making up for lost time by making and serving cheap produce.
Was looking for wedding venue for my daughter but will give this Place a body swerve.
They need to up there game . What was strange is the female owner kept referring to me as darling, I guess I must have impressed her in some way !!!

Beautiful 4 star hotel set in over 300 acres of land although despite this there is no car park for guests strangely. The Deluxe room we booked was huge with a comfy bed, shower and bath as well as all the usual bits and bobs except for toilet paper.

We also booked an evening meal as well as breakfast too and were looking forward to something a bit special as we don't normally splash out on swanky hotels. The evening meal had 2 vegetarian options - Cajun Macaroni Cheese and Veggie Haggis Lasagna so you'd better be ok with pasta! We both opted for the lasagna as the haggis lured us in with it's Scottish vibe. And then the dishes arrived. In what level of hell would you be served lasagna with garlic bread and chips in the restaurant of a 4 star hotel? After nearly dying from a carb overload we dragged ourselves to bed for the night.

The next morning I was looking forward to a nice big breakfast to set me up for the day. Thankfully there was a full Scottish cooked breakfast and they had a vegetarian version with veggie sausages instead of the haggis, black pudding, pork links and bacon. Ok, I can deal with paying the same price despite having 3 less items. When I asked for this option I was told that they had no veggie sausages left - this is despite us being the 3rd couple to arrive for breakfast that morning. So I had to make do with a half portion breakfast and pay the same price as the meat eaters version. My partner had poached eggs on toast which were barely cooked and therefore slimy. We had to ask for cutlery, ask for drinks and then ask for the toast they had forgotten to bring.

The end to our visit involved us trying to check out with the lady on reception basically asking us to pay while at the same time holding a conversation with her colleague and practically ignoring us.

The totally unprofessional staff and distinct lack of culinary skills including the hotel's woeful attempt at catering for vegetarians leave me never wanting to go back here again. I've had better experiences at hotels that charged half this price.

Accommodation Booked was 2 nights deluxe room with a glass of Prosecco on arrival dinner bed and breakfast.

On arrival, our room was in the Attic there was no dinner available on any of our two-night stay, as there were weddings booked. We could however pick from a Chinese or Indian takeaway up to the value of £30.00. which would be delivered to the hotel. we were told this was due to covid as the kitchen was not allowed to cater for both wedding guests and residents.
We went up to our room to unpack the corridor was covered in plaster dust, no carpets on the floor ( Building site ) the room was far from deluxe but adequate.
We went down and ordered our takeaway which arrived cold.
In the morning at breakfast, we were greeted with two flasks of tea and coffee on a table for all guests to help themselves no hand sanitizer ( covid regulations ignored ) we asked several times for toast and were Ignored. That night we had to ask for the glasses of prosecco and again the takeaway was cold.
Overall service was very poor staff just didn't care and everything appeared to be a bother. NOT A PLEASANT EXPERIENCE.

Very few hostelries would permit a dog in the dining area. We had our dog with us and put him in the car whilst we ate.
