I paid £300 for 3 nights here for a break away for my Mum as a gift. We stayed in a twin room on the 4th floor. The view was great, but the room was very tired looking as was the rest of the hotel. I generally like old buildings but that is no excuse for it to be in...

Went in for dinner and a drink. The bar was relatively quiet so I asked if I could eat in there. The bartender told me no. I ordered a glass of wine that I saw featured. I was charged 10% more than it was posted. When I pointed that out, I was told that I had ordered incorrectly. The atmosphere...

I booked this hotel for myself and my partner for an overnight getaway at a cost of £116 which I though was a bit hefty but I expected great things for that cost, how wrong I was! This hotel is flawed on so many levels as per below: • Entrance rotation door is far too small, it’s actually a struggle...

Warm and cosy and popular with coach parties and a slightly older clientele, this hotel is not without its charms. It just feels a bit dated in decor and approach. There are the old style keys (just one per room) and wifi only available in the public areas (and then only if you do a sun salutation and angle your...

Pros - Excellent food - we had the set menu in dining room as the restaurant was full, so best to book a meal in advance. Breakfast was nicely cooked, plentiful and loads of choice. Helpful staff, free tea/coffee in residents lounge, comfortable bed with decent pillows. Clean, controllable (and warm!) radiators. Two bucket chairs and coffee table in room,...

I am currently sitting in the lounge part of the hotel, having finished our lunch 35 minutes ago , all our dirty plates remain despite 5 staff members passing our table one of which is the hotel manager!!! Deserts ... Perhaps for breakfast . One staff member even came over to talk to our dog and afterwards left leaving all...

We did not stay at the hotel but went there one evening for dinner. The food was excellent and the service good - although the waitrons were extremely young and therefore not all that experienced. The restaurant forms part of the hotel and therefore does not have any specific charming ambiance.

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. There was a large group of us (16) split into single, twin and double rooms. Staff polite in the main, although language issues complicated matters occasionally. We were given two round tables in the restaurant for breakfast and dinner which were ours for our 3 day duration. This was really good. Breakfast: plenty...

Stayed at the alexandra, after reading reviews of the hotel being a little dated and in need of a refurb. ..we found our room to be very nice indeed, a friend we were travelling with said his was very dated. The staff were friendly and the breakfast was great, however my only moan is that we were unable to eat in...
