Me and my husband stayed in one of the lodges on site for a week. On arrival we went to the hut and were met with a very uninspiring young boy who seemed like he didn't want to be there and knew very little about anything. On day 1 I got locked in the bathroom as the door handle stuck. I emailed to report this as no staff on site. A maintenance man arrived and removed the handle and said he would be back later that day with a replacement, well we never saw him ever again and spent the week with no toilet door handle!! The Internet is TERRIBLE! false advertising to say its high speed quality!!! Struggled to get 1 bar of signal and Netflix on TV didn't work due to this. The free view TV barely got a signal at times too. We raised this with park staff and maintenance man none of whom seemed willing or able to fix it. After reading All the reviews I see that the Internet problem has been going on for years and clearly nothing ever done about it!! The lodge itself was very clean and comfortable and if the TV signal and Internet were greatly improved it would make me consider going back. The lack of site staff was also a concern. I feel we were charged vastly over the odds for a less than top quality holiday! Such a shame as its a great location and has potential to be so much better!

Stayed here at the start of our NC500 journey and the end of the trip. Site is fine, good size pitches and reasonably priced. Staff fine, helpful enough. Toilets were ok the first time, but a week later, on our return, I’m really not sure if they had been cleaned as there was the same rubbish on the floor and a sponge on the sink. The showers were ok on first arrival, ( apart from the shower curtains that were covered in black mould) but second arrival they were filthy. There are also signs around the campsite stating the food and coffee hut is open 8am - 8pm, but in actual fact it’s 10am open. Good location - a 25mins walk into the town centre!

We arrived for a 2 night stay so it was okay but could be great with a little effort. Our booking process worked well having booked online and checked into reception as you would expect but there was no-one attending reception the following day or o the morning we left. A white board was outside reception with the name of the camper and pitch number. In all the years of camping I have never seen this before. We were in a grass pitch which was good, not at all soggy even though it has previously rained. I did notice that some campers don't give others adequate space between pitches. The toilet block has been updated in recent years but isn't as clean as it could be. I didn't use the laundry but I did look into it but it was very untidy with a pile of cleaners laundry there for the time we were there. Dishwashing room was very good. Very easy access into town, either a 25 minute walk or twice hourly bus service. A lovely walk along the Caledonian Canal which is next to the campsite. With a bit more effort and attention to detail this could be a great site!!

Right from arrival things weren’t good. The young man in reception couldn’t give a monkeys, especially if you have concerns. Don’t bother having any special requests. My wife is disabled so we asked for a hard standing pitch. Nope. A very soggy grass one cramped in the corner blocking another van! Two pitches later were still on grass but now in the middle on a small pitch less than 15’ from the next van. The pitches appear to be of varying sizes with no clear layout. Some vans are less than 10’ apart and a lot of people are not happy. The ground isn’t well drained and has standing water in most areas. The toilet/shower block is in desperate need of a lot of tlc & cleaning. Very limited on numbers too considering the number of pitches. As for the chemical emptying point… Clearly any money spent is on the lodges not the touring pitches. Certainly won’t be returning and wouldn’t recommend.

Small site, approx 25 min walk from city centre, near canal. Perfect for campervans, caravans etc , Flat pitches on grass. Pods available. Felt safe. Toilets and showers clean and warm. Not best site for children. Little room to play.

Me and my wife came to this campsite because we were doing the NC500, we gave it one star review because there wasn’t any lower options. When we came to the park we got a very warm welcome from a young gentleman called Ryan, he was very friendly and helpful. The toilets were nice and clean, for a campsite but there’s only 4 showers in the female and 2 showers in the males, and that’s meant for 50+ people? The sanitary bins were overflowing and disgusting, I went to the campsite reception, and complained, I know that this is not a job for any member of staff, so they need to have something in place where they get emptied more often. I came to do my washing, when I went to go over to buy tokens for the washing he only had 2 tokens, which is not enough when they have so many people in here that also have things they need to get washed. When I finally got my 2 tokens I took my washing in the washing machine, they were in for 15/20 minutes before the cleaners in the park came and took my washing out, dumped it on top of the dryer, to put their own stuff in, I had to go back and get my clothes they were soaking, the cleaners were using the dryer and the washing machine, they left the campsite about 15 minutes after they took there washing in, so do they expect us to take their stuff out as well? Maybe fold it for them, and do their job for them? This is the most bizarre campsite In Europe, they don’t have a system that works, and it’s the most expensive place in Europe for washing, when you can’t even do your washing. They have one washing machine and one dryer for 50+ people, which is not enough. Not allowed any ballgames or cycling at the campsite. Which is what most kids do when their out, should be allowed, but a warning to be careful around the driveway, and around other caravans. Also looked like they were short staff in the black box/campsite, The food was very delicious, but they need more staff. They need more toilets, showers, washing machines, dryers, etc. I was speaking to a couple of people, and found out that there’s only one key for disable toilets. There is no pitches marked for disabled people. There is no baby changing rooms. The drainpipes near the reception has a really unpleasant smell, and it makes you sick. As I said earlier when speaking to other campers a few of them told me they had to move from pitch 31 because of the smell of the drains. (NOT VERY HYGIENIC) We will not be back, thank you!

The campsite was welcoming and clean. The facilities were absolutely spotless We only stayed one night, wish I’d booked longer. They had a large food kitchen cooking. We had burgers and chips and it was delicious. The camp was nice and quiet

We stopped here for one night in our campervan on our way from west to east. It was quiet , clean and very friendly. The walk along the river and islands into the city centre was beautiful. We booked another night so that we could enjoy a walk along the Caledonian canal. Breakfast rolls and coffee from Black Box food highly recommended.
