Cannot fault my evening at this hotel in the slightest, The hotel interior was stunning and the staff member at reception was incredibly helpful. I came in for a dinner with my daughter, our waitress Hannah was lovely and knew a lot about the food and drinks which really showed she had been trained properly and knew what she was doing. Our meal was so enjoyable we will definitely be coming back very soon. Would highly recommend to anyone considering booking.

Kirsty is a fantastic waiter who catered to our every need. Very helpful and polite. She deserves a raise. Fantastic cocktails severed, best I have ever had. The food was also excellent and severed in a timely and efficient manor. Reasonably priced and would highly recommend. Always ask for Kirsty!!!!!

Spent one night here whilst on a business trip in Inverness. A brilliant little hotel with really accommodating and helpful staff. Food in the restaurant was of an extremely high quality for dinner and breakfast. Bar area was really nice too. Would 100% come back if I’m in Inverness again!

Was staying at this hotel on business reasons. 1st impressions was good. Breakfast fantastic. Bar is lovely and inviting. Bad points are, I had a single room. Only 1 coat hanger and was freezing cold. I had to wear a hoodie all night. When bar closed I was refused an other drink. I told the barman I was a resident but was rather rudely put in my place. Our table, all residents only wanted 1 more drink before we retired.

Friendly hotel in the castle area of Inverness. I stayed here for one night. The welcome was genuine and helpful. The room comfortable and clean. The food excellent. The hotel is a little bit of a climb from the city centre but that was fine for me. It has car parking if you need it. It’s an old hotel so maybe looks less minimalist than modern hotels. But they have tried to keep it maintained without losing the character. What stood out to me was the service, especially by the chap on reception in the morning. When hotels become a bit of a blur for business travellers, it’s genuine service that makes the difference. I should finish by acknowledging that it was very good value, perhaps because off season.

Very disappointed with the 2 night stay and the lack of response from the management. I’ve tried phoning several times always with the same response the owner is busy & will phone me back. I’m still waiting 3 months after I stayed. One of the oldest hotels in Inverness with a great reputation & yet no night porter. It is an accident waiting to happen. I tried to contact the emergency numbers during the night as no heating available & eventually a young man appeared from the basement in a state of undress. He told me he had been advised to switch off the heating earlier in the day as it was a milder September. I’ve stayed in other Inverness hotels and normally the male staff would not enter your room during the night. I asked was there any other biscuits available to be brought another Tunnocks Tea cake. ( these were already provided in the room complimentary). In the morning when I spoke to the reception staff they didn’t believe me when I said the instructions in the room were to go to reception & use the hotel phone to phone the emergency numbers. On seeing this notice they said it was a mistake & would rectify it. The room door was noisy again the staff assured me that this would be sorted. There was no difference the 2nd night. This was classed as a Disabled Room, if there had been an emergency it would have been very difficult or impossible for an less able bodied to get themselves to reception go under the desk shelf and use the hotel telephone. I would not recommend staying there yet had a very comfortable stay on previous occasions. The hotel manager was rude when I phoned later, yet again to try to speak to the owner. I will not return there as a guest. However, it is likely I will be back as it seems to be a favourite choice for Invernessians to have their funeral tea. Maybe then the owner will have time to speak to me as I hear she does oversee the funeral teas.

I phoned the hotel saying I was considering booking a double room online but the Booking.com website said this hotel’s rooms had either a bath OR a shower. I asked if there was any way of knowing the room I was going to book would definitely have a shower, not just a bath. The receptionist said all rooms have showers as it was not the 16th century, it was the 21st century! I suggested the website should be updated if that was the case, and that I’d stayed in a 4 star hotel just last year where the room had a bath with a hand-held shower only so we could not stand up and shower which is why I was asking (as that was the 21st century). From the rudeness experienced just to make a simple enquiry, I would not consider booking a stay at this hotel. Some staff are a liability to a business - if a receptionist can’t demonstrate any customer care skills, the hospitality industry is not for them.

Having had an afternoon tea previously that was average but we were forgotten about often by staff (getting cutlery/tea etc) we decided to give it another shot and went here for an evening meal - the interior was very nice which draws you in. My partner ordered the Cullen Skink, to find out it was off (I tasted it also and it tasted sour and not right) our mains were very basic for the price, and desert we had the cheesecake which had no taste at all and was stale, the base was rock solid like it had been in the fridge for 2 weeks … overall we were sadly disappointed by each course and had to pay a large bill for it. We stayed in this hotel and for paying a lot for the night we would expect the room to be clean, except we found wrappers near the bedside cabinet and a dirty wet used towel behind the bathroom door! The staff were nice but overall our experience was very poor.
