In 20 acres of beautiful landscaped gardens and woodland, on the shores of the Beauly Firth near Inverness, this 17th-century Scottish mansion is now a luxurious 4-star country house hotel. Free parking is available at this hotel, and there are Tesla and non-Tesla electric car charging points on-site. Rich in historic character and traditional charm, parts of the Bunchrew House Hotel date back to 1505. With dark-wood panelling and real log fireplaces at both ends of the room, the Drawing Room is a warm cosy place to relax. Each en suite room is individually decorated with its own unique character and the rooms are named after local places and Scottish clans associated with the house. All rooms have TVs and fridges, with fresh milk supplied daily. With fabulous views over the Beauly Firth to the mountains beyond, the wood-panelled restaurant has received 2 AA Rosettes for the quality of its cuisine. The Cocktail Bar looks out onto the hotel’s magnificent gardens and offers a range of drinks, including fine malt whiskies.

I found the hotel to be absolutely charming with warm friendly staff, idyllic setting and good food. Looking forward to stay here again. The bedroom had a sea view. The bed was comfortable and a good nights sleep was had. I would certainly recommend this hotel.

We had a lovely stay here, the rooms downstairs are beautiful with open fires and traditional wood panelling. Very well set out, the staff are incredibly helpful and friendly. The rooms are clean, bed large and comfy with beautiful views. The restaurant is simply outstanding, some of the best food you could eat!

We stayed for 5 nights together with our dog. And we had a splendid time here at Bunchrew House. If I could I would give them 6 stars. First of all, dogs are really welcome here. There's only one small exception, the main dining hall. However this is no issue at all since you're more than welcome do take your furballs with you for breakfast and dinner into the adjacent MacKenzie room. The staff is just marvellous. A shout-out to our wonderful waitress with the pony-tail. At last but not least, you have to eat dinner at the Bunchrew House. The chefs are wizards and what they create is just absolutely astonishing. That we had dinner 5 out of 5 nights there is just logical and needs no further explanation.

The location is beautiful, the staff were extremely helpful and friendly, and the common areas of the hotel were comfortable and pretty. Our room, however, was outdated, threadbare, and not very clean in some areas. The bed was the exception -- it was very nice and comfortable.

Dear Cindy D, Many thanks for sharing your experience of your recent stay with us. Glad to read about the team offering great hospitality and that you managed to have a good nights sleep in a comfortable bed. I am sorry that the room you have stayed in was not up to expectation. We have an ongoing refurbishment plan and all rooms will soon be remodelled. Having said that, all rooms should be cleaned to the highest standard. This aspect is something we take pride in here at Bunchrew House. I am very sorry if this standard was not met during your stay and I will investigate why this could have happened. Best regards, Norbert Szabo General Manager

The building is beautiful and the view pleasant. The bar is also nice for a break. Unfortunately we were disappointed by our room, large but located apart on the ground floor, in front of the air conditioning and backed by the kitchens. Child's bed (payed in extra) in the entrance is not usable because the day light passes through the doors of the entrance ; and at night there are lights in front of the offices, laundry etc at 2 meters. We paid an expensive price for a premium room that was not at all a the level expected.

Dear Caroline P, Thank you for sharing your experience on your recent stay with us. The room you have reserved is located on the ground floor with a separate entrance and with stunning views over the Beauly firth. A majority of our guests consider the positioning of the room to be an advantage. As with most hotels, extra beds will come at a surcharge and this also includes breakfast for the extra person. This will have been included in your booking price at the time of reserving the room. Thank you for mentioning the blinds on the door. This is easily fixed and will have new ones installed shortly. I am sorry that you did not opt for dinner in the restaurant and have the chance to enjoy wonderful food with impeccable service. I am sure it would have made all the difference. Best regards, Norbert Szabo General Manager

This is a really nice historical building, and one can clearly feel it. The garden and the view over the river are really beautiful, and the position in quite good to visit both Inverness and to have a tour of the region. Rooms are a bit dated, and need a serious upgrade. It was also very warm and difficult to breath inside our room, despite not being so warm outside and we kept the windows open all night. Food is very good, better than I expected, but the system is a bit weird. They force you to book even if there is nobody, and then the bar food needs to be served outside of the restaurant on small uncomfortable tables, while they could just have the entire menu at the restaurant. They are dog friendly that is a big plus? And the car chargers worked really well and easy to use. In general we enjoyed our two days there, but I feel the price was slightly too high due to the low quality of the rooms , and especially the bathrooms.

Dear Alessandr078, Thank you for your time spent writing this review. Lovely that you have noted that Bunchrew House is a historic building with beautiful gardens and one of the most ideal locations to be based in whether you are visiting Inverness, the Loch Ness area or exploring the Highlands. During your stay, we have experienced a very hot spell that has been a very rare occurrence in these parts. There is an electric fan supplied in every wardrobe to alleviate the heat on those rare hot summer days. Happy that you have enjoyed the food. We do have a booking system in place as we have a small team. Both the fine dining and the bar menus are prepared in the same kitchen. Whilst it may seem that we are not busy in one room we could be fully booked in the other and it is one venue and one team looking after guests, therefore timing is of great relevance to us especially when the service and food are to be at the level we strive to live up to. In the fine dining environment, there are certain rules that apply so bar food will not be served along with the restaurant food. The bar menu is simply there to offer an alternative, but not to compete with our main focus, fine dining. We are proud to have been one the very first to offer electric car chargers in our region for hotel guests. We will continue to add to and improve this service in the future. Thank you for mentioning this in your review. Best regards, Norbert Szabo General Manager

Dear ianeT8719VB, I appreciate the feedback on your experience. I will defend the menu price and subsidies which are in line with the rest of the industry. The products we use and the work and talent that goes into preparing the dishes and the service that follows are what make up these prices and not one ingredient on one dish. The size of each dish is measured on the scale of how the menu is meant to be offered. Three courses with starter, main, and dessert preceded by canapes, homemade bread and finished off with petit fours to go with your coffee/tea after dinner. We feel that this is plenty of food for any occasion. Best regards, Norbert Szabo General Manager

The furniture in our room was very used and in need of some TLC. The bed was very comfortable but the bedside lights have about 7 watt bulbs and are useless for reading. One of the down-lights nearest the window was out. The carpets are passed their best from the front door and up the stairs. Breakfast was, we thought included as it says on the website, but on arrival we were advised it was £30.00 extra. This hotel has a fabulous location and has all the basics to be a Grand Hotel again but it needs someone to do the pushing. Disappointing.

Dear John G, Thank you for your review. Sorry that you felt that the furniture was not adequate, but appreciate your comment on mentioning that the bed was comfortable. I have addressed the issues relating to the lighting. This could have been immediately rectified during your stay. Breakfast is always included in the room rate. Always. I am confused about the £30 extra charge. I don't know who or why would have advised about extra cost on arrival. We would only charge extra if there was an extra person to stay in the room of whom we would not have been informed before arrival. If you could get in touch directly and show us this extra cost it would be much appreciated and we would be happy to rectify if there was an error made on your bill. I value your comment on Bunchrew House having all the basics to be a "Grand Hotel". I assure you that it does have a whole team of people who "do the pushing" and will do all that is necessary to remain a "Grand Hotel". Best regards, Norbert Szabo General Manager

We traveled with 3 children and the Bunschrew staff and accommodations were perfect. Our rooms were charming and the grounds were beautiful. We enjoyed dinner and breakfast at the Bunschrew. The food was wonderful. (Try all the desserts!) The property is located just outside downtown Inverness and is minutes from Culloden Battlefield Museum and Loch Ness.
