We broke our journey from Glasgow to Kirkwall here and were glad it was only for one night. The room was small and dull at the back of the building and down a narrow corridor. Soundproofing between rooms was poor - the person in the next room had a terrible cough. The welcome was friendly enough, but one element of...

Excellent service, room was amazing, good breakfast, friendly service and they ensure you are happy. Internet access, big tv, nice sofa. It is dog friendly so it was perfect and there is a riverside walk right outside the place so its very easy to walk the dogs and great views along the river!

Travelling as a family of 4 plus dog can be very expensive and at times awkward. However the Waterside Guest House made it easy. Nothing was a problem, and the price was very reasonable indeed considering they were cooking 4 breakfasts. They even went out specially and bough some vegetarian sausages. The Waterside is not a formula hotel, where everything...

Really lovely people, great value place to stay - stayed up late for us to come from the last train! Nice clean rooms but the friendly manager was the best thing about the place. We'll come back next year.

The room was number 1 right inside the door which was very convenient with all the motorbike luggage. The room was comfortable and the bathroom appears to have been recently redone. Overall the place is a little tired, but our hostess was very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was just fine.

Arrived very late Friday night after a horrible journey up from Devon, had a very friendly welcome and a much appreciated comfortable bed to sleep in. Bicycle accommodated no problem, scrumptious breakfast before we left for John O'Groats. Arrived back on my own on Sunday after seeing my son off on his JoGLE cycle. Again, a very warm welcome and...

Booked in to stay two nights here in a family room. We had a kingsize, single bed, single sofa bed and after asking for a bed for our third child, a fold out bed was happily set up and made while we were out for dinner. Room was large and comfortable and the ensuite shower room was modern and clean,...

Working up in the far north of Scotland can be a grind (especially the travelling) but on arrival everything is set out as arranged and the rooms I get allocated are all really comfy and reasonably modern. Sandy and Fiona are really putting a lot of effort into updating the place and Audrey is really nice and helpful too. I've...

This is a very basic low priced B&B, however the room was much better than many hotels I rejected inThurso. The bed was very comfortable the mismatched bedclothes gave a very homely feeling and the interior was as good as any 4* hotel I have been staying in in my travels. The power shower and large clean bathroom made me...

Despite recent comments I have just stayed here and my room had been updated. Other works going on unnoticed to my stay which will bring the remaining up to the standard of my room. All friendly and helpful staff. Would definitely return.
