Detailed Reviews
As a wheelchair user I was thrilled to see the hotel was w/c accessible and had accessible rooms with facilities in the centre of Glasgow on a budget.
My wife and I booked for a stay on the 19th and 20th of June 2021. The hotel is located about 50 metres up North Frederick Street from George Square, It is quite a steep street to get up in a manual chair but worth the effort. There is 24 hour keyless level access into the hotel which is very clean and modern with a few quaint features left over from the old printworks that one occupied the building.
On check in the receptionist explained fire evacuation procedures in detail which I find classy but unfortunately quite a rarity unless you ask.
The handmade pizza served in the bar or room are delicious
The staff were very friendly and helpful and the reception and bar area was quite open with plenty of turning room. The lift and corridors are spacious to allow easy turning and movement. The room we had was on the second floor and was fully accessible with all adequate grab rails and bars fitted.
Cheese and wine are no longer server at 5 o’clock because of covid but they do hope to bring this back once restrictions ease.
Would highly recommend and will definitely be staying again.

The Z Hotel first impressions, easy to find! Minutes walk away from both bus station/train
Reception and bar area looked cosy, especially checking in on a rainy day.
Check in - smooth and friendly.
Corridors clean.
Plenty of Hand sanitizer/covid procedures in place
The room, reading other reviews I had worried there wouldn’t be much space but we were actually quite impressed with the this especially for the few nights. There are other hotels in the area with rooms a lot smaller and less storage. I liked that the windows could open, would definitely think of booking here in the summer months.
The bed, plenty of pillows, comfy and also cosy. I didn’t want to get out of it.
The bathroom. Usually not the best things in hotels but on this one the shower wins, a lot better than many other hotels. The downside not so much privacy due to frosted glass, so make sure you’re at a level of comfortable with that other person
Check out was 11am but was able to check out later which was a huge plus!
The only downside I nearly lost my boyfriend to the BT Sport and Sky Sports. At one point he was ready to not leave.
There was no cheese and wine but hopefully it will make a return at somepoint
Loved it. Ready to book again.

Hi OkCake, Wow, what a wonderful review! I am thrilled that your first impressions were so great. We are proud that we have managed to remain so COVID secure during these uncertain times. Our bedrooms, while compact, are very roomy. The BT Sport and Sky Sports and full Sky package is a huge plus, I really agree! Please come back and visit us again in the summer when hopefully life will be a little more normal. Thank You Donald Cameron Hotel Manager

This is my favourite hotel in Glasgow. In the past year I have spent about 20 days in the city, with the majority at this hotel. While the rooms are quite small they are always spotless and very modern. The shower is huge, the water pressure is great, and the beds are the most comfortable that I have slept in. Additionally, the rooms are cleaned and fresh towels are supplied every day. All rooms have aircons and the majority of rooms are noiseless, except for a small number with large older single glazed windows facing the street (although it's just a side street, so not busy). The TV boasts the full Sky package, including movies and sports. Breakfasts are good, but continental, unless you pay extra for something like a bacon or an egg roll and are served up until 11am. I have salads or pizzas on the occasions that I have returned to the hotel for dinner and all have been delicious and at a very reasonable cost. An added attraction is the reinstatement of their policy of offering a large glass of wine and a cheeseboard from 6:30pm-9:30pm FREE OF CHARGE. However, apart from the wonderful central location, it is only a one minute walk from George Square and five minutes from Queen Street train station, the clincher for me was the very friendly, efficient and helpful staff. All were great, but I would like to single out the Duty Manager, Charlie Novello, for his extreme professionalism and friendly manner. I am sure that his people skills played a major part in such a well run hotel.

+1
We had booked a room with no window as we, after all, were only going to sleep there! The room is so small that the standard size bed (4ft 6 ") is pushed up into the corner. No problem if only one of you, but very difficult to get in and out of if two of you. At the end of the bed where you have to climb out is a small corner unit with tea/coffee making facilities with a couple of shelves under neath. Next to the pillow on the free side of bed is a similar unit. These form your drawers. Hanging space is 5 pegs on the wall with 4 hangers and a small square stool is the additional seating. The rest of the room is taken up with the en-suite.
When I enquired it turns out that ALL the rooms are like this even the more expensive ones with windows. Anyone with mobility issues would not be able to share a bed in this hotel. This, as far as I can see, is not made clear on the website.
The bed was not made properly - the base sheet was placed along the edge of the mattress with no tucking in so rucked up every time you turned over, as was the quilt. I did point this out to reception so she didn't charge us for breakfast. In my view, if the cleaners can't make the bed properly then it is not fit for purpose. The staff were all lovely and welcoming and it is very centrally located.

Hi Starnurse2, Thank you so much for taking the time to review your stay with Z Glasgow. I am unsure as to which room type you booked with us but we do offer single rooms right through to our largest Queen sized rooms. To maximise space all of our beds are against the wall. Our concept is that of a compact one but we feel that we do maximise the space. We would love to welcome you back to us but I do feel perhaps more traditional hotels may be better suited to your needs. I will be sure to pass on your kind comments to the team, Thank You, Donald

Just home from a very enjoyable stay in the z hotel. Nice clean rooms which are minimalistic but had everything we needed (although we just asked for fresh towels etc as required). Only downside of room was that the bed was right up to the windowsill which makes it tricky to get in and out of bed if there is another person in it!! A smaller unit at other side would possibly allow enough of a gap for ease of getting in/out of bed. That said, it was nice to have drinking water in room as well as usual tea/coffee etc. Also a nice touch to have sky sports and movies channels. We were also offered complimentary wine on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day which was appreciated. Staff are helpful and friendly. We had breakfast one morning which was basic but tasty and only £5 per person. Location (just off George square) was ideal for us and it was not as noisy as I had expected. Would definitely stay here again if in Glasgow and was good to finally get the stay we originally booked for last Christmas. Many thanks to all hardworking staff.

The hotel is located almost in the heart of George square which is amazing considering the price and the discounted car parking. We booked the smallest room without a window so I was expecting it to be small and it certainly was! However the way they have managed to squeeze a shower, toilet, hanging space, tea/coffee making facilities, tv and air conditioning is amazing and if like us you are just using it for a night as a base to shop and have a night out in Glasgow then this is perfect. If I was to go again I would book a bigger room for 2 of us as 1 of us was wedged in the bed against the wall which made it awkward when needing the loo through the night!

I’m on my gap year and travelling about and decided to stop at Glasgow. The staff were nice, I believe the girl that checked me in was Katherine or Kathy. She smiled a lot and made it feel like home a little and is very attractive too, may I add.
The room was good, mini wet room design was cool. The bed was a tad hard for my liking but did the job. Breakfast rolls were delicious, add a hot drink with that and it came to £7.50. Tad steep but the roll was very good so almost balances out.
Overall, good stay and lovely location. Would recommend.

We stayed at the Z Hotel in Glasgow for one night at the end of February. Location is great - situated right across the road from George Square and a 5 minute walk from Buchanan Street. The hotel room (albeit small) was very nice and modern, and the bed was very comfortable. We were told upon check in that there was complimentary cheese and wine available for guests (because why not?) so that was nice too.
I would only question the soundproofing the room offers as advertised on booking.com as we could hear other guests from their rooms as we were walking past.
Overall a lovely room and stay in the middle of Glasgow at an affordable price.

We stayed here for a quick weekend away in Glasgow. A very convenient location near the merchant city area of Glasgow, just next to Queen Street station. Parking is in a large garage and although not free there was a significant discount making it £12 per day which is pretty good and cheaper than taking the train in from where we live, an hour away.
Staff were friendly and the rooms were clean, however they are very small. Both my husband and me could not be standing up at the same time, for example when getting dressed and ready for the day this was challenging. The loo is the most problematic part if you are sharing with anyone as the walls are made of glass (!!) and the door does not close properly. If I was on my own travelling for work this wouldn’t bother me in the slightest but it’s not very couples-friendly. I love my husband but I don’t want to be involved in his bathroom routine.
Overall a good and inexpensive hotel with a nice location. But I wouldn’t stay again unless I was travelling alone.

Hi Kristen, I really agree that with the discount at the local NCP to us, it certainly provides excellent value for money! I am pleased that you found the hotel to be so clean and our team to be friendly and helpful. The concept of our bathrooms i agree might not appeal to all of our guests. Our wet room style has been developed to make maximum use of the space in the bedroom while still providing a powerful shower. I really hope we can welcome you back again to us very soon, we would love to have you back with us again. Thank you Donald Cameron Hotel Manager

We stayed at Hotel in Glasgow for 2 nights, and it was generally very good. Great location, just around the corner from the Queen Street Rail Station which is almost right on George Square. The On and Off bus route begins right at George Square, so this was very convenient as well. The hotel is also a couple of blocks from the main shopping and restaurant/bar areas on three major pedestrian ways. In other words a superb location. The staff was very friendly and helpful and there is a nice small cafe on the ground floor. Also, due to COVID, Z Hotel moved our reserved room several times over 2 1/2 years as we tried to go for this well planned vacation, which we greatly appreciated. The slightly weird part was the room itself which was so small that the bed was in a corner, requiring one person to crawl either from the bottom or over the other person (if 2 persons), and there was almost no room to open two suitcases on the floor. Also, a nice modern bathroom was plunked in the room, with hazed glass walls that were open about a half meter from the ceiling. So there was technically a separate bathroom except for the light, sound and hazy images that were all part of the "experience." For two nights, it worked, and I would recommend staying in this hotel again because overall it was excellent, but I would pay more attention to the specifics of the room. For one person, this would be a great room. For two, a bit awkward and cramped. When we arrived, the host did not have us on the list for that night, but when we provided the reservation document, he found us a room. So it may be that this room was not intended to normally be used for two people.

I would advice against sharing as the rooms are small and I can't imagine them being able to fit a bed in
I don't think there is in rooms but they may have one in the reception/dining area
No unfortunately not as I asked when I visited. They stopped because of Covid 19
There is not a car park specifically for the hotel as such, but they have a deal with the nearby NCP car park (approximately 8 minutes walk away) for reduced rates. You just get your parking ticket validated by hotel staff upon checking out to ensure your discounted charge.
